Yeah, Ive been keto for years and more recently carnivore. Although my diet is high in b12 & b9, my body just doesn't use it. He has me on 1mg of folic acid and I get b12 shots every month. My labs are normal now. I don't know why my body doesn't use the delicious food nutrients but it does use the supplements??? Anyway, my doctor's answer is that this is common for white women of a certain age.

You need folate as primarily L-5-MTHF. If you get it as folic acid, the folic acid has to go through about 5 different enzymatic reactions to be metabolised to methylfolate, SNP's can affect anyone of these enzymes and reduce their efficiency to convert the folic acid in active folate.

  • @24carrotgold8

I use the Chronometer App to track my nutrition. In spite of the meat, cheese, eggs and salmon I eat, I could not get my folate up. I remembered I had some Thorne Methyl Guard and added the dose to the App and it exceeded my folate and B12 daily requirements. I am using ketosis and nutrition to enhance chemotherapy and mitigate side effects by applying principles of metabolic flexibility. Folate is helping me rebuild my red blood cells. 🤗👍🥳

Greetings Ken, first let me tell you that you have been instrumental part of my KETO, Carnivore journey. I wanted to get a message to you and I’m not sure how other than sending this. So for those reading this do not interpret it as anything more than “information”. I love what Ken does and recently his lovely bride... ok... so here’s the message. I recently purchase Keto Chow Daily Minerals and I know you’re not the company but just wanted someone to know that on the bottle it states the serving size as 1 tbsp. But in the write up on the back label, it says 1 teaspoon. Just a type-O. But thought since your face is on the label you might be able to correct that before some poor dude gets a double shot of minerals! : ). That’s it... love you guys and hope you can continue to change the world - 1 SAD eating person at a time... TY

Hey, Dr. Berry! Love your videos! I would like to suggest a video for the MTHFR gene mutation. I happen to have the TT version of mutation. I did not even know anything about this until about a year ago. I took Trileptal for approximately 3 months and got mouth sores to the bone. The dentist told me to return to my prescribing Dr office. The prescriber did a DNA test and sure enough I have the MTHFR gene mutation expressed as TT. I do not process folate well. I was told by that Dr office to take folic acid supplements. Doing research on my own, I found out I need methyl folate for this. Also, one of my twins, has spina bifida occulta which is not severe but she has always complained of her back hurting. Wish I knew all about this before getting pregnant almost 20 years ago! All the folic acid in the world would not have fixed the problem with my daughter.

The mid section is the most efficient place for the body to store energy. Imagine if your fat was stored in your legs or arms. The human body is extremely intelligent, it doesn't do anything without reason.

Fasting around 115. After a meal drops to 95. Been on keto for 2 months.
Even after eating 4 spoons of honey after 24hrs fasting my sugar dropped to 94.
6'1 tall. Lost 50lbs by limiting calories intake.
Any idea how to lower my fasting blood sugar?

VEGEMITE!!!! (Wikipedia: "Vegemite is one of the richest sources of B vitamins, specifically thiamine, riboflavin, niacin and folate (B1, B2, B3 and B9, respectively). Unlike Marmite and some other yeast extracts, the base version contains no vitamin B12 although both B6 and vitamin B12 are added to the low-salt formulation." Get to love it, non-Aussies!

Vegemite was created (Krafted by the later day saints - the ones who own sanatarium and call its poison health foods whilst getting tax exemptions, i digress), as a substitute for meat dripping when they wanted to push our grandpatents off natural fats and into margarine, trans fats and seed oils. Exactly the same context as Japan pushed people onto fake lab grown seafood.

Marmite is made from yeast extract, a by-product of beer brewing. It is similar to the British Marmite, but the two products are made by different companies (the UK version is made by Unilever)."

Fried with butter and sea salt, which is how I cook most of my meat.
You can also dice it up and add it to soup or ground meat.

I took a gradual path. I started integrating liver, which I hated, by having my butcher mix in 1 lb of calf liver into 4 lbs of ground beef. I froze it in 1 lb portions and used in keto recipes that called for ground beef. Then I made Dr. Berry’s mustard sauce dip as a steak condiment. Next was my mom’s recipe for (calf) liver and onions, which was fried in bacon fat, and also included bacon. Lastly, I tried Neisha’s pâté recipe and have never looked back! You can do it! Good luck!

Hello Dr. B. I am a 56 year old male. I had colon cancer 3 years ago and they removed 18” of colon. I am thinking about transitioning to the carnivore diet. My question is... should I try the carnivore diet with only a semi-colon remaining? I appreciate any advice you can give. Happy New Year.

I'm guessing Dr Berry never saw this, but if you see this now, there are more keto/carnivore friendly MD's now. You should search the internet to see if there are any near you. You can still keep your current doctor, but see them for this particular issue. Most regular MD's will automatically say no w/o even knowing anything about keto or carnivore.

Had the same wiped out feeling.
Just got element drops that Dr. Berry recommends. Before the drops arrived, started feeling better after I supplemented with
Magnesium and vitamin D3. Element drops contain potassium, magnesium, and other vitamins.
Feeling much better, after supplementing. Feel better

Say, Dr. Berry... Have you by any chance found a source for Nutritional content/information for the Ancestral Organs? I read through the site and see where Brian seems to believe that nature will figure it out as far as nutrients go (and I get that testing perhaps is expensive, as he "Could" put Nutrition Information on "Food" instead of Supplement Information... But I digress.)
I should just write and ask him (probably will), but was here today and the thought popped into my head...

Hey Doc! I’m looking at my nutritional yeast (Bragg) container and the nutri fact label says it has 540mcg of “Folate” per 9g serving. Can I add this to the list or is it just “fake folic acid” but not specifying?

    • @sappir26
      @sappir26 2 года назад +1

The problem with nutritional yeast is that it's usually enhanced with synthetic vitamins so you need to make sure that you get one without any synthetic additives. I personally take Brewer's yeast which is all natural or a couple teaspoons of flax seed.
