Very Beautiful Antique Jewelry Box - Restoration ASMR

- Hello!
In this video I will show my restoration of a very beautiful and antique box. It heavily rusted and corroded. This indicates that the has been lying in the ground or water for a long time. The surface is in very poor condition. The box is made of brass, bronze and copper. These metals are resistant to deep corrosion, which is why it survived to this day. It is decorated with birds, ancient dragons and various beautiful patterns. This gives it uniqueness, originality and beauty.
I wonder how old it is, who made it? Because I don’t have any information about it , maybe you know something or have any guesses, write in the comments. I will be very interested.

Restoration and bringing the item back to what the artest/designer/marker of the item originally intended the item to look like is not only awesome but respectful to that artist/designer/maker. It also preserves the item from further damage and disintegrating into nothing. Future generations can now enjoy and appreciate these historic pieces. Keep up the fantastic job!

Rubbish, the artist clearly intended it to be blue, or it would not have been blue just lazy
@@YoungRestorer small suggestion for the lining fabric: if your fabric is thin then you may want to add a layer of thin batting (like for quilting) to provide padding so that items stored in the box don't damage the lining or themselves during use. The easiest way to do this is to cut the batting to size but cut the fabric about half an inch bigger all around the outer edge. Wrap that half an inch over the batting and glue it down so that the fabric lies flat on the "face" side of the batting. Then flip it over and apply glue to the batting before sticking it to the restored box. This lets you spread the glue easier and lessens the risk of getting glue where you don't intend it. I hope this helps with your next project of this type. This was a really good video and I thank you for it 😊
You have done a beautiful job, please ignore the jealousy. I respect what you do as a fellow restoration worker. You can never please anyone and everyone thinks they are an expert in the industry when they know very little about what we actually do and it annoys me to the core!!
Hi young restorer I’m back again lol, please don’t listen to these people. I’m an archivist, and any conservationist would have done things similar to you. If it kept rusting it would keep disintegrating. You know what you’re doing, keep doing it. You did it a service, not a disservice by restoring it. You preserved history and you should be proud. These little boxes are hard to come by and I would hate to see them leave the earth forever. ❤

I think the blue is absolutely gorgeous too, but I'm confused with how copper and brass managed to become rusty..
I strongly disagree!! That patina looks, & IS, awful and horrible!! I can’t stand patinas on anything. It’s not my style/cup of tea. Some people may like it. I hate it.
This box was beautiful at every stage of its restoration. I know it had to be treated to preserve it, but how lovely those colors were at every stage! Great job!

This was absolutely beautiful before you polished and cleaned it - but very impractical. You did an incredible job cleaning it up and making it useable again.
I believe they meant that it still looked very cool before the Young Restorer fixed it, but the box was not functional (because of all the rust). Now it is usable and still looking cool. The patina had its own beauty. In a way I wish it could have been saved. But, I understand the nature of copper and the need to restore it to preserve it.
I wish I had a fortune to temp you into selling it. It is truly an outstandingly gorgeous piece.
My Mother passed recently and I was fortunate she left me some unique art deco and vintage pieces. Now I am inspired to find a case worthy of them.
I am sure you do, but please ignore the children bickering. Someday they will grow up and understand the way the world works. And hopefully put down their childish trolling. Thank you for sharing your talents.

I know, the colours (before restoration) were like a painting, a piece of art. Maybe that would have been cool, a professional photograph of the piece before starting work. I would buy a framed version of that.

I almost preferred it before! It looked like a treasure found under the sea... I would have liked to protect it as is! that being said, your restauration work is amazing, it's just that I found the old version very poetic

@@YoungRestorerCould you please try building a box from scratch and intentionally design it like the before of this one? In a few years, you can post a restoration of THAT piece. You can show how art ages even with care. I think you would have fun designing your own antique.

The jewelry box pre-restoration was a hell of a vibe, but the box post-restoration is actually usable and still such a vibe. I especially love the red fabric interior you added to it. That should make storing things in it a lot less noisy.
