This is NOT boring at all! We're getting ready to re-carpet our house! It will be pricey and we want to do it right, because it won't happen twice! I have carpet sample's all over the place here and the padding is just as important if not more so to get 'right.' I'm happy to see this now before we make our final decision's!!!!!! THANK YOU!!
I have never liked a RUclips video but I appreciate it this video so much said I thought I would leave a comment and thank the creator for making such a quick and easy video absorb. It was short, sweet and to the point.
For an installer you all know a lot about carpet cushion.! Most retail sales associates have no clue what the differences are. Good for you though! Your customers I’m sure appreciate it.
If I plan on doing carpet myself, should I buy carpet from places that don't offer free installation? I only ask because I hear that places that offer free installation is included in the price of the carpet.
I’m wondering the same thing myself!! If I get from Home Depot - it’s the same price with the “free” install and if I install myself which makes NO sense..
Hello, Just wondering if there are any risks of getting sick from pulling up carpet and taking out the old padding before installing laminate flooring. Ik there’s a risk of mold and other airborne diseases but, what about asbestos or chemicals? My home was built in late 00s in 08’.
Lovin' this video! Regarding "Spillblock", I've been told it keeps LIQUID from going down into the pad, but allows VAPOR from the slab to still rise up. True or False?
When you are using the stretch kicker tool, do you place it on the tack strip or two inches from the tack strip? Also, I need to carpet 3 rooms and a loft which include two mini halls leading into the bedrooms. How would you order the carpet? It's about a total of 1850-1900 sq. ft. Would you work from each room and then do the loft and halls entirely separate from the rooms? I'm assuming I would just use seam tape for each room where it leads out of the room? Sorry for all the questions.
All good!! Yep set the stretcher 2ish inches behind the tack strip. If you want to have a massive roll dropped in your driveway sounds like you would need to order a 12x160 to cover that 1900 sft but it’ll be way easier to measure each individual room and have cuts delivered for each.
I only have carpet in my bedrooms, I am thinking to replace the carpet, home depot recommended lifeproof or homedepot exclusive spill proof padding 8lb. What do you recommend?
No people, never, ever ,ever double up on carpet padding.... It is way WAY to much give for the carpet and will cause your carpet to wear TERRIBLY. A 10lb pad will (that was not even mentioned in this guy's video) will be more than enough to deaden any sound or footsteps you don't want to hear. 10 lb is overkill though one layer of 8 lb pad should do the trick.
John Steier we had to haul like 100 rolls of that crap up 6 stories of stairs, was not fun! And the job only paid like $3 a yard, totally not worth the time and trauma LOL

Bad ass video! Thanks
What padding do you recommend for stairs? Should I get 4/6 lbs. 3/8 or 7/16? I plan to buy a low pile carpet.
If its not good to have the misture blick on carpet padding, should I alao install carpet that doesnt have it? No pets or kids

This realy helped!
What are your thoughts on Felt Padding? What about for a bedroom? Carpet company recommended.
Lovin' this video! Regarding "Spillblock", I've been told it keeps LIQUID from going down into the pad, but allows VAPOR from the slab to still rise up. True or False?
True. So maybe not the best choice for a basement. But a den or kid’s game room is ideal, I’d say.
Awesome video! What about automotive carpet padding? Any thoughts?
Wish they made that with moisture barriers

Yep seams in the doorways and any area that is wider than 12ft on the width of the carpet
Dude you’re awesome by the way

Go with 1/2" 8#. Only use spill proof LifeProof padding if you have pets.
I just bought an 8’ by 10’ area rug that is on top of hardwood floors. What kind of pad should I put under it?
The best is British wool. 100% organic.

how does eco products perform?
they should use Shamwow's as carpet padding
I wasn’t expecting “ that good good” 8lb. Lol 😂
Just moved into an apartment, the carpet is new but feels lumpy like there’s no carpet pad at all😔
My man talks a hundred miles an hour but good video!
Can I keep my old password and just replace the carpet
Have you ever worked with that heavy grey hotel pad? It’s awful man, like trying to trim down a wool blanket on the floor lol
Yes we call it horse hair. Man does it suck to work with
For sure!! Thankfully I rarely run into that pad!!

Carpet Expert Blueprint it sucks when a home owner buys the best pad but cheapest base grade paper thin carpet
Were you doing this job through a store? Or did you guys bid it out yourself?
