First, let me say how fantastic this game looks and how fun my friends have had playing it. I will add, like a few others below, that once we got caught up on a few rules and were confused about the mix up of wood and leaves in a few areas that it seems I also have a copy of the game where the rule book and some of the cards have incorrect info on them. While I watched your excellent how to play video first on Board Game Geek I just now clicked over to the RUclips video to see that you've commented on how you should have replacement parts in shortly for those of us who have misprinted info. Thanks for doing that and I'll make sure to email you to add my name to the list of those looking for the corrected versions of the rule book and game pieces. Thanks again for making such a fun game! And to clarify, here are the 7 cards (in addition to the rule book) that have typos: Exploration Card - "I Dino What to Do" should say Wood instead of Vines Meteor Card - "Rocket Malfunction" - Should say Vines instead of Wood Rocket Docket Card - "Wood" - Should say Vines instead of Wood 4 Reference Cards - Should not include tarpit as a place that cannot be explored Is that all, or are there others you're aware of that would need to be replaced? thanks!
Thanks for letting us know about the individual cards. Just send your email to me at chip.weir@solidroots.com and I'll get a rulebook to you and when we have corrected game pieces I'll get those to you also. Game On! Uncle Chip of The SolidRoots Crew A Division of Spin Master
Clay, if only the dinosaurs had this game, they could have saved themselves. Although I'm unsure whether I'd like to see a T-Rex coming down my street. 😳 We know you, your family, and your friends will have a "blast off" (see what I did there) playing our game. Play On! I have question about the rules. There is a Meteor Card called "Rocket Malfunction" that states "nothing can be added to the launchpad until 3 wood tokens have been dropped off at the oasis." Does that mean we need 3 ADDITIONAL wood on top of the wood that we have already dropped off to build the rocket (towards the required 8 wood)? Or does our current wood progress still count? Or was that supposed to say vines, since I know that there was a mixup about those in the rulebook. Similarly, there is a Rocket Docket Card called "Wood" that has players drop off 8 wood to get a rocket part. Same question as above for that card. Thanks in advance!
Yes, unfortunately, there are a few misprints on early-game copies. You guessed correctly: "Rocket Malfunction" should require 3 VINES, and the "Wood" Rocket Docket Card should be "Vines" requiring 8 VINES. If you'll get us your address we'll get you a new copy of the rule book. Play On! Uncle Chip of The SolidRoots Crew A Division of Spin Master
Can a tile only be explored once after it has been revealed? Can it be re-explored after an earthquake? And suppose a person is traveling two spaces, once through an already-revealed space and the second movement action reveals a new space, is the resource and exploration of that tile still available to whoever arrives next?
Each time a tile is flipped faceup it gains its resource, so yes they can be explored multiple times after earthquakes. (Note, even if the resource has been taken from a tile it can still be Explored to just draw a card because sometimes they are helpful) Revealing a tile doesn't Explore it, the resource would stay there until a player uses the Explore action there. So yes, you can travel through tiles and choose not to Explore if you don't need that resource right now Hope this helps. Play On! Uncle Chip of The SolidRoots Crew A Division of Spin Master
You must be looking at an old rulebook that is misprinted. The new ones correctly say you need 5 rocket pieces and 8 WOOD to win. If you email me at chip.weir@solidroots.com and give me your address, I'll send an updated rule book. Play On! Uncle Chip of The SolidRoots Crew A Division of Spin Master
I have a question on the rules regarding the Rocket Docket cards. The video above and the written rules mention that it's possible to have more than one card "active" at a time. However, based on the rules, it appears that isn't possible (you only turn over a new Rocket Docket card when turning in the current "active" card when you Resupply). Looking for some clarification. Thanks
Correct! The rules talk about the possibility of 2 Rocket Docket cards but does not specify how. The one way that it can happen is through one of the Meteor cards: named "HIP HIP HUR-RAWWR!" This one tells you to instantly flip over a new Rocket Docket, and from them on there can be 2 face-up cards. Both are viable ways to grab the next Rocket Part.
Can the Tarpit be explored? The video says only oasis and volcano cannot be explored but the rules and reference seem to indicate the tarpit also cannot be explored.
We're so sorry! On a few copies of Escaping Extinction, there are some small typos and you have found one! To clarify, the Tarpit CAN be Explored, it is only the Oasis and Volcano that can't. Make sure to check out the tutorial video on our website for the fully correct way to play. We can send you a new Rulebook with that error corrected, free of charge! Just get us your address. @ ok. I submitted a ticket to Spinmasters and they said they don’t have replacement parts to ship out. So I’m not sure how to get you my info, as I’m a little nervous about just putting my address in the comments.
We are waiting on an order of the new fixed games still sadly, so we won't be able to get any replacements to you at this time. You can email me at chip.weir@solidroots.com to send me an address when we do have "parts" available Thanks Uncle Chip

I've played this game several times now and I really love it. I do have a question though. I know it's been established that the rulebook is incorrect in stating that vines are used for the rocket while wood is used to heal. I'm wondering if the same is true for one of the exploration cards. The card 'I Dino What to Do' states "You see extra Vines in a dangerous spot. You may choose to take 1 die-roll of Damage to gain 1 free Vine' I feel like that should say Wood because taking a die roll of damage to gain vines, which are used to heal, feels completely pointless
Ding Ding Ding, we have a winner! Sir, you are correct, our crack staff took a look and it should have said wood. Sorry for the error but we aren't sorry that you love our little game. Play On! Uncle Chip of The SolidRoots Crew A Division of Spin Master
Hey! First of all, thank you for making this video! Secondly, in the rulebook I got with my game, it says that vines are used at the launchpad and wood is used for healing. Is this a misprint in the instructions? If you see this comment, I would appreciate any feedback! Thank you!
JTMason001, My British nephew-in-law, probably had to have a spot of tea while creating our rulebook. He did confirm though that yes there is a misprint on some copies of the game. The correct rules are that Wood is used for the Launchpad and Vines are used for healing. The updated rules will be available to download soon from the website, but not quite yet. Sorry about that, but we're not sorry for the fun you, your family, and friends will have Escaping Extinction! Cherio! or Play On! Uncle Chip of The SolidRoots Crew A Division of Spin Master
