Great and professional video! Big thanks for showcasing the cubeode and NGC shells. Hope the subscribers like it. Please let us know if there're any questions.🤟🤟
the gamecube is my goto console for moding. there are many options to get the entire library on 2 sd cards with full functionality of the disc reader/memory cards. and then the blue tooth upgrades make it really nice to invest in rather than sink money into. even once the disc drive goes the console is still viable !
I appreciate seeing this as mods like this is what keeps these consoles alive. I say let these consoles live on as long as people keep these mods coming hopefully indefinitely.
I'm going to be doing a similar project too this weekend. I have an old GC and GB Player from when I was a kid lying around, collecting dust, and after I tested it, the disc drive wasn't reading discs, so I decided that I'm just going to mod it and pimp it out, lol. Just waiting on my 3D printed mount that I ordered from eBay to come in the mail.
I was modding my GameCube earlier this year in a similar way & it's absolutely awesome now. The GC Loader PNP and a 3D-printed SD card mount are awesome, but probably my favorite mod I did was the Blue Retro Bluetooth adapter board. It's so cool being able to sync any Bluetooth controller to my 'Cube AND still be able to use original controllers with no issues.
That gamecube goes well with the tv. It kind of makes me want to do a shell swap on my gamecube, but I may just buy one with a broken drive and go all out on it
Holy crap I just bought a GCloader, I had no idea I could get an ODE for less than half the cost, but the upcoming Flippy Drive really looks legit too.
Lookin' good. I modded some GameCubes with PicoBoot a couple years ago, both ones with and without working disc drives. Fun stuff. Agreed that aliexpress is a lot nicer than it used to be and worth giving a shot for stuff. Often they have some super niche electronics stuff I don't even know where to find elsewhere. Like extension cables for any old controller type (useful both for their intended use and for if you need to make custom adapters to hook an old game controller to a PC). Also unofficial USB chargers for lots of handhelds are on there.
I put a DOL-001 model into the pearl white shell of a DOL-101. This is the best looking shell, imo, but it was only available with 101 models, which kinda suck due to the missing digital output. Only had to make a little cutout for the SP2 port and the shell fit like a glove. Other than that I have all the games on a micro SD card in the SP2 port and boot into Swiss using an SD Geko and an Action Replay disc. This way the GC stays in its most original form. Even though I could easily solder anything into the cube, I'm really hesitant about doing so.

Not sure if you are in the Seattle area but I would happily install picoboot in your GameCube for you for free if you want to play with that and the og disc drive.
waiting for my flippy drive, but instead of swapping the shell on my gamecube, im reshelling my gbas and getting new ips screens. going to have 2 silver gbas, 2 silver gba sps, a silver gba player, and my original silver gamecube i bought with metroid all those years back. eventually ill get the silver aftermarket wavebirds. hopefully nintendo makes bluetooth ones ill get those
The case swap I wouldn’t have any issue my problem would be to add Swiss and Roms, I am clueless when it comes to that stuff. I wish I knew someone I could pay to hook my GameCube up.
good to know about the shells...STILL WAITING on that 'new' (6 month ago?) $40 solder-less GC ribbon connector/Picoboot thingy, I've put off shipping mine out waiting on this damn thing, god knows what the hold-up is.
I have a near perfect (barely visible paint scratched, no scuffs) Platinum GB w/ matching GBA player (Japan only thing) and an orange GB/GBA combo. I just couldn't replace those shells. I do have a black DOL-001 w/o the SP2 connector so a new shell would be awesome and the CubeODE might be perfect for that. Anyone know how fast the CubeODE loads games? The SD2SP2 can load some games/videos slow or w/ stuttering (Mario Party opening)
@@johnmorris7899 You mean the flippy? As far as I know that's not even on the market yet. I'm going to put the flippy in my other GameCube but If you can do some very basic soldering you still can't beat the $10 price tag of the Pico.

you can add bluetooth? Oh man now you're talking...
@7:40 agreed. The elitism around not buying 3rd party or repro is insane when the price difference makes or breaks if a project worthwhile
I like your regular rant / review videos but REALLY enjoy videos like this one. 👍

Yes it would be nice having a longer video and seeing the whole project of swapping shells and such, like a tutorial.

Looks good next to the Monster tv!
You’re missing the fan upgrade.

It looks amazing, and these monitor looks super impressive!

5:42 "Fwah!, Fwa!... whatever "
Im dying 🤣 😂
I just did this recently with a new shell GC loader recap did the internal HDMI mod, it turned out really nice.
Now I want to buy a broken disc game cube to make this Frankenstein just because I can!
Frankencube
Not sure if you are in the Seattle area but I would happily install picoboot in your GameCube for you for free if you want to play with that and the og disc drive.
Looks great! You really can take a turd of a GameCube and make it into something people would treasure.
sweet setup ronald, im lovin it!
I've got one like this, but also with silent fan, collingan internal bluretro and original gcloader.
Can you do a video of a Original playstation case swap same way you did with the gamcube please 😮
Your TV reminds me of your old G story portable monitors

I want a new gamecube because mine doesn't have serial port 2. Made me sad when I realized it.
It's worth it for the digital video port also. Cleanly adapts to HDMI.
I wanna know where you bought that game screen your using
This is really cool. Awesome little video
The case swap I wouldn’t have any issue my problem would be to add Swiss and Roms, I am clueless when it comes to that stuff. I wish I knew someone I could pay to hook my GameCube up.
That so cool need to shell my Game Cube the game store I go too dose the reshell repair very cool colors 😮🎉
Legend
I bought those expensive Retro Game Restore shells for the PC Engine and that wasn’t threaded either.

Would you recommend that cubeode over picoboot?
That is awesome!
Awesome video!
I recommend going with a raspberry pi pico. Gives you ODE for like $10 without having to lose the drive itself.
Yeah, but the Picoboot mod requires soldering, and not everyone's willing to do that.
This is what I went with to help preserve the Disc Drive.
The floppy drive is the best of both

@@johnmorris7899 you mean Flippy drive (not available yet, just for preo order), I just though of the Floppy drives with 1.44mb of storage 😅
Cool, thanks.
Man I could use that power bank with the screen. I can't find it on Amazon and I don't have a Sam Club membership.
heyyyy !!!!!! what is the 1st game you play on the gamecube (with a taxi ??)
It's called Smashing Drive
Awesome!
No hate, but I'm really surprised you didn't have any gamecube games in your collection. :O
No hate, bu I'm really surprised you didn't have any chocolate chips in your pancakes. :O
what kind of tv do you use?
what is that monitor youre playing on?
You need to get the port lights installed.
I’m going to do this and use Pokémon Box
where did you get the jewel?
what monitor/tv is that?
He featured it in his previous video, and there's a link to buy it there.
