Ooooh, I wouldn't mind giving that one a go but I think i'd first have to do some personal weight reduction. XD
Can he keep the engine from stalling and get to the track?

Can an F1 test driver convince his team to bring the F1 car to an indoor kart track???

It would serve literally no purpose. Track is too tight even for a supermini. Those shit karts would probably beat something like a Ford ka round that track

@@mabra33 roky destroys him
Max Verstappen he was a great driver 10 years ago. But it’s not 10 years ago it’s 2019 and he’s slow as fuck
At my home track in Delft(The Netherlands) We always have a few karts that are faster than normal but when a F1 driver came with a big event, he would get the best kart, repaired, fixed with the right tire pressure and made sure to be even faster than the normal karts to make sure they would get the track record in the few laps they would drive. After the event we would take the kart for a spin we would also go alot faster than the old record.
Though i do have to applaud that they can get adjusted to the track very fast and get the racing lines right, but beating the dudes that drives there a few days a week for years with over 10000 laps is a different story :P.
100% it's over exaggerated. Most track I go to I can get within 4 tenths or so of lap records. Only recently I got fastest lap of the month at a track then. Switched to another kart to go and break it by another 5 tenths. If the karts were optimised I have no doubt it would be broken fairly quickly
@@armymanalI'll back that up. I am normally under 5 tenths within 20 laps but still the two biggest factors at indoor places like these are the rider weight and the kart. Everyone knows certain karts are faster than others, not like these are being maintained by anything other than minimum wage kids or being examined by F1 authorities.
Matt is like any of us, trying to nail everything and wonder why we are 2 secs off
its just the weight on those karts. 10kg are 1 second more a lap.
@@EmilFitness no its not.
@@EmilFitness It isn't the weight, it's the tyres.
Both of these would have been with brand new rubber. Freshly serviced calipers.
You get a pinched caliper or absolutely less than brand spanking new rubber and instantly 3 seconds off the pace. Just the caliper, a pro could drive that to around 1.5 seconds off. But you will never ever drive around used kart rubber. That's what makes even karting expensive now. Rich kids go out on every round with new rubber.
@@dons1932 what calipers means? the balance?
@@EmilFitness Calipers are the things you see through wheels. They sandwich the brake pads onto the rotor which is how you brake.
Matt: "We'll be using a 4 stroke Sodi RT8"
*sees a bizkart logo on the wheel*
me: "wait"
4:45 he should have said ‘get in there Matt’
Should get the Haas drivers in. They'd be chuffed having so much power for a change :D
Little tip if you lean to the outside of the corner (without tipping the kart) you can increase your cornering speed from the outside wheel getting weight on it and traction
Often wondered how much better they are than most people given the talent pool in motorsport is so small. Obviously it's still a very high level at the top. Well done Jack!
Anyone remember how Ocon was going to do some vids? Maybe a casual Aitken v Ocon?

This is the RUclips Feel good buddy comedy of the year with practical racing advice! Can’t wait for you to get Lando, Max, DanRic, or Kimi on track! The Finnish firecracker would slice and dice the slippery sections like a figure skater on speed.
Suspect the track is the cleanest it's ever been, with a kart in the best condition it's ever been!?
Get in there, Matt.
You are the man. YOU ARE THE MAN.
Tem Radio:
"Get in there Jack! What a mental lap was that."
Jack pulls it out of the bag and didn't know he had smashed it, he was lining up a better lap.
Sadly enough the “lap record” was 4 seconds off the actual lap record, this track is Teamsport Reading in UK, the best is 53.3 not 57
Cannot believe the algorithm has taken this long to bring me here. I live 1.5 miles from this track and have driven it a few times. It is so frustrating if you get the entrance to the climbs wrong as you watch your lap time disappear.
I used to have record for cadets there!

Seing a track on floors like that is so weird to me. Here in germany all the indoor tracks have asphalt floors
doesnt that place burn through a lot of tires then?
it would be a lot more grippy for sure but indoor cart tracks are mostly made with these semi slick floors.
@@MRdeLaat Yeah sure, they propably use loads more tires, even though they use harder ones that dont degrade as much. But the grip is pretty great and in my opinion what makes Karting fun
And i really dont think I have ever seen these slippery floors anywhere in germany.
Not all
@@EdiEdi-mu2gf alright, i stand corrected 😅. The vast majority, though. I have been to around 10 all across germany and they all had asphalt
Was laberst du für eine Grütze? Das stimmt ja mal so null...
Wasn't until Jack said - 'He's not quite maximising the corner there' that I detected a Scottish accent - good man Jack carry on the flag from the 16 previous Scottish F1 drivers combined of course with the Ying Yang of SK.
It's also the weight. I set a record time of 1.16.9 at a local outdoors 1240m track when I weighed 87 kg, and now I am doing 1.21 seconds at 110 kg... same lines, same model kart, same conditions. It's around 1 sec down per 10kg.
did you watch the other video where they compared times with and without weight

He didn't break any record :D It was just target lap time he was supposed to beat, 1,5 seconds of the actual record. But it's all about the fun.
@@tommy4862 I couldnt remember target lap time when Im writing that why I said random lap record yea u're right target lap
Can’t wait to see jack in f1
I did this near Boston. I passed everyone and used every thing that cart had. I didn't even come close to the record. My arms were shot by the end of the day. I remember thinking if the steering wheel was just slightly larger in diameter, apexing would be a lot easier and the cart would be less quirky during recovery. Next time, I'll bring my own steering wheel.
Aitken is a likable young driver. Would like to see him make it to F1 and mix it up with Norris and Albon.
I love to see this because this is my usual karting company. (I go to the one in Cardiff just about to go actually)
On these indoor teamsport tracks you ALWAYS go faster and faster as the plastic tyres slowly start getting some heat lol. MattyG is pretty good though.
Yeah they have to have some getting used too I go to the teamsport track in Warrington only been a couple times but I know what you mean
Well Jack broke the track record at TT Assen circuit during the Gamma Racing Day in The Netherlands on Saturday
3:13 that smile on the "remove last lap" button lol
The test drivers incar commentary was really good to hear.
Look at this kid! Young, small and obviously very fit.
You know you're at the pinnacle of physical sport when the top competitors are at peak physical condition. I bet if you compared the BMI, resting heart rate and VO2 max of today's pro auto racers with those of three or four decades ago, you'd see a huge difference. No longer is motor sports for the beer guzzlers who don't like physical activity. Look at Patrick Long, for example, someone who learned excellent body control and balance at an early age by teaching himself unicycle riding. He cross-trains with all sorts of other, varied physical activity and exertion. Power to weight is important for the car AND the driver! Pretty cool.
PS Do they polish the track to preserve the record?!!!! Roughen it up and lap times will drop.
PPS Now that I actually finished the video... It seems like setting the record, with highly skilled drivers, is mainly contingent on cart performance. As Jack said during his runs, the carts are seriously under-powered. So given that serious limitation, how do the ensure that the carts powers are all the same? They have to be pretty much identical in all areas: horsepower identical throughout the rpm range, throttle response, tire pressure, tire tread and hardness, among many other things. I don't know how they can possibly keep all the parameters the same.
Arrive and Drive 4 stroke hire karts are rarely well matched, but usually the drivers are the bigger limiting factor. If you seem to be doing well, the marshals at these places often will help you get into one of the karts that seems to be working a bit better that particular day.
I'd like to see a video of a heavier F1 driver or test driver, if one exists, and see how the line changes. Entertaining video, I'll check out your others.
