If you are looking for the password recovery video keep in mind that it will NOT work with anything other than the iPad 1, iPod 4th gen and iPhone 3GS/4. That is all. Nothing else- • Forgot iPhone password...
This process will not delete anything stored on your iPod. The whole idea is to preserve your data and avoid performing a restore.
This is what I have on my computer and it works every time for me: Windows 7 32-bit version, .NET Framework 4.0, iTunes 10.7.0.21, Java 6 update 41

Gecko works best with Windows 7 32-bit version. Windows 8 users *might be able to use the command line procedure described on my site.
If you get the "INIT FAILED (mux thread)" error, try downgrading your Java to version 6.
Sometimes your phone will show a black screen and stop responding. If this happens for more than a few minutes you should be able to use a hard reset to get it back on. Hold power+home buttons for ten seconds then release and press the power button again.

If you have forgotten your iPod password and entered it too many times, this will allow you to get past the "iPod is disabled" screen without a restore. This way you won't lose all of your data, jailbreak or unlock. Works on the following devices up to version 6.0 Once you get past the ipod disabled message you can once again enter your password. If you forgot your iPod password you can recover it by following the steps in my other video. Works with the following devices:
iPod 2-4th generation
iPhone 3GS-4
iPad 1
This procedure does not require your device to be jailbroken.
You do not need to have an iTunes account but you will need iTunes on your computer.
You can post questions here but unfortunately there are some that I can't answer if I haven't encountered the same problem that you are having. Device: iPod Touch 4G
Software Used: iTunes 10.7, Java SE 6.37
Tools: Gecko iPhone Toolkit
Goal: Allow me to enter my passcode again.
Process:
1. Uninstall iTunes, Apple Application Support x32 & x64, Apple Mobile Device Support.
2. Install Java SE 6.37 and iTunes 10.7 x64 (because I use Windows 7 x64).
3. Plug in iPod, let it get all its device drivers (I had 3).
4. Follow video instructions. My iPod kept going to the screen with an icon for iTunes and a cable, this is not what you want. You want the screen to be completely black after following the instructions to get to DFU mode.
5. There may be a point where the program doesn't stop where it does in the video, it will install a driver for recovery mode, "Apple Device Driver (Recovery)" if I remember correctly.
5. Continue to follow video instructions.
Outcome: Success!

Does this really still work
Yes. On supported devices with the correct configuration on your computer with all required downloads and installations, yes. You must follow the directions to the letter though, i.e it's not exactly easy. If you have:
iPod 2-4th generation (2nd and 3rd are bypass disabled screen only- will not recover pass code)
iPhone 3GS-4 Not 4S or anything after that.
iPad 1
This configuration will work:
Windows 7 32-bit version. Windows 8 users *might be able to use the command line procedure described here bit.ly/2o9YoXg. Also Windows 10 possibly but I can't help you with that.

Java SE 6.37

No. That's the second gen. Unfortunately not supported.
This worked! I found my old iPod 4 that I wanted to start using again, but it was disabled (which I'm guessing is why I stopped using it). I wanted to reset it using my CPU, but to do that I needed to "Trust this computer" but I obviously can't because it's disabled!! With this video I reset my iPod with iTunes!! Thank you so much!!

Succes! I made it on computer with Windows 7 home-premium (64 bit). I installed iTunes 10.6.3 (downloaded it form the Apple support page) and downgraded to Java 6 41st update (downloaded from Oracles site) I bought the Gecko Toolkit and downloaded redsn0w from the links in the description. I didn't install any .NET framework on the computer.
The iPod disabled is a 4th gen and has iOs 6 on it.

This worked beautifully.....I had problems running it at first. Then I discovered the that Java Development Kit had to be installed for this to work properly. But, after I ran that, I had no problems.....Thanks sooo much!! I have Windows 8 x64 and had no problems!! I think this also solves the INIT FAILED error some people are experiencing.

the problem is with the Java version.
do the following.
1) Control Panel / Programs / Java / Update
Uncheck auto update or any setting that will keep Java from updating immediately.
2) Go to oldapps DOT com and download a version that is Java 7 Update 4 or older.
3) Control Panel / Programs / Uninstall
Uninstall the Java 7 Update 5, 6, 7 etc. that is newer than Java 7 Update 4.
4) Run Gecko

When you say "unlock" do you mean a password or network lock?

I realize you didn't list it in your description, so I'm assuming this will not work with the iPad Air, correct? In any case, so frustrating how they lock you out after only 10 tries and force you to restore the entire thing. What bothers me is that even though this is implemented to prevent people from breaking into a device they don't own, it clearly -more often- causes problems for people like me who actually own their device, and simply forgot their passcode. They need to come up with a way to recover it and re-enable the device without requiring a system restore.
Yes it really is awful. If losing your house key meant never being able to get back into your home again there would be a lot more homeless people in the world. Ridiculous isn't it?

Yeah this is from 2012. Apple patched the exploit back around the time that iOS 8 came out. I dont know of anything that works with newer iPods. At least not yet.

You probably have a few connections broken on the outer part of your charging port. I would try another data cable just in case. If that doesn't work the only way to get past the disabled screen is to get your port replaced and then use the Gecko Toolkit.

I finally got everything to work (Java,Itunes,DFU) now the Bypass says "Unsupported"
But thats not possible. My ipod is a 4G and theres no way it can be updated. Its been disabled for going on two years.

This does not delete your information however you must be able to enter DFU properly in order for it to work. You might have a hardware problem like a sticky power or home button.

It should. I've had a few with newer firmware though where I could bypass the disabled screen but not recover the password.
This question keeps coming up so I'm going to state here just as an update. *Most* questions are answered in the video description. This works with the devices listed as supported up to 5.0.1. I have not had any trouble with 5.1.1 either for the record. 6.1.X sometimes works and sometimes does not. 7.X... not much luck.
Also there is a possible solution for the INIT FAILED error if you read the end of the video description.

What kind of device do you have? Is it on the list of supported devices in the video description?
Also for more info (I read description btw) and my iPhone is definitely under 5.0.1
You can try the whole process again but that usually means that your firmware is too new. I have only been able to perform the recovery up to 5.1.1 although some people claim that it works on 6.0+

You can use the Tiny Umbrella utility for a hard reset but you will not be able to enter DFU mode for the password recovery unless you fix your home button.

Jordan_Paige_Keavy_Katie_Connor I've seen this before too even though I have done quite a few with 6.1.3. It is most likely a compatibility issue with Java version, .NET Framework or possibly even iTunes.

You should be able to get the Toolkit from the link in the video description that says .../download-links
If you aren't going to repair the button you could use a donor phone of the same model and install your logic board temporarily just long enough to perform the restore/password recovery.

It will always work unless Apple creates a new update for the iPod Touch 4th gen which is extremely unlikely.

Hi. I disabled my friends ipad and now it says connect to itunes. I want to fix it before I give it back to my friend. I dont have a back up of the ipad, I dont know the password and I want to give it back with all its data on and original password. If I follow the steps in your video will the ipad still have all its original data and original password, will it function any differently? Thank you. Please reply ASAP.
If it is an eligible device (iPad 1) and you follow the directions then yes you should be able to recover the password and data. Remember that it must be a simple four digit numeric password though.
This is meant to get your iPod working without deleting anything. You do not need an iTunes account. Your first question is answered in the video description. I will add the second answer now so that others will benefit.

Make sure that you are clicking on the correct download link. A lot of the ads on medifire tend to look like downloads. AVG and Malwarebytes show the Toolkit as being safe.

It should be. Did you already try a hard reset? (Home and power buttons for ten seconds then power up.)
Please help me, at bypass it first gave an error in which I downgraded java afterwords. Then it didn't know what program to use in order to open the sshrd.jar file, so I assumed java was the program and now it just doesnt work, None of the java apps work for it in or outside gecko, so now I'm stuck.
@Shenne Tiedeman That sounds like your firmware may be too new. Do you know when it was last updated? The latest iOS that seems to work is 6.1.3

You think this could work with windows 10? I am not tech person so I do not know but I got to access this without losing the data on it and there is no icloud storage for it. I think the iPod is the third or fourth generation so I am assuming that means that part is fine but I do not know about my PC's operating system

I got it to work on Windows 8. If you are getting the "init failed (mux thread)" error you must install an older version of Java. Anything older than Java 7 Update 4. Also, under Programs you must set both set Java to NOT check for updates and Uninstall the Java 7 Update 5 or higher.

hey im having an issue where when i put the ipod in dfu mode the program doesnt see it. when i go to device manager the computer sees apple dfu device but the program still says it cant find it. Any help would be great

So, I'm guessing most people can't use easily use this.
I should update that. There have been people who told me they used it successfully with Windows 8 but required the use of command prompts. This might mean that you could do something with Windows 10 but I can't confirm that. My machine works now so I don't really want to change anything as an occasional customer still asks for this service.
I try over and over the pass 2 weeks and never change my passcode & now im lock-out. Try to plug in into my cpu itunes & still nothing.
In DFU the screen will be black as if the device is off but you will see Windows detect it when you enter that mode.

dont know if you still see the comments on this video, but im trying to get into my old ipod and im curious about something. as far as i can remember, the home button is almost completely broken, and doesnt really work unless you push it down with a ton of force. do you think id still be able to do this, or would the broken home button make this impossible?

That may be due to wrong Java version. There is some info in the video description that might help you.
Using the toolkit with Java 6 and iTunes 11, Win 7 32ibt. In the bypass ( java window ) nothing happens after "connect device in dsu mode".
The problem we are having is that when we get into the gecko toolkit and select the bypass iphone disabled tab and select ipod 4g the dialog then says under the connect device in DFU mode in red "unsupported device: UNSUPPORTED". How do we fix this? We do have java update 7 and iTunes 11.1. Are these adequate in solving this problem? If not how do we downgrade them? What else do we need to bypass the disabled ipod screen? Jailbreak should not make a difference but if you are tethered then you will have to re jailbreak after the process if you want to keep Cydia.
Be sure to put the device into DFU only when prompted. You cannot do the steps out of order. Also, does your computer detect the phone in DFU mode? If not you might have a problem with your data cable or port. Otherwise are you sure that you have entered DFU mode successfully? There are a lot of videos that can help if you are not familiar with entering DFU mode.
Do you have anything on how to bypass google account lock? Where it tells you to enter the google account that was previously associated with the iPhone?
