DO NOT use soap as a wax substitute. When it rains the soap will foam up and it will actually remove the wax that was already on that curb. I made that mistake as a kid and ruined a curb I had been building up wax on for a couple of years.
yep, better off using mums old candles

bit late to the party, but im a street/road worker. when we have old aluminum signs we typically just collect and then scrap, maybe get like .30cents/pound usd. might be worth a shot to ask your local municipality if they have old signs, give em to you for free or super cheap
thank you!

life saver for when you wanna go back and watch
lol right on homie
check this tip out!!
for those who can't afford new skate shoes every month, you can use a (hot glue gun) on the flip sides of the shoes, after it gets melted from flipping put a good amount and let it cool down it kinda create a good tough extra layers and you can repeat the same process once the layers almost melted again and you can skate your same shoes for a long time. i've been using this method from long time ago when i can't buy a new shoes and i've never seen anyone talking about it in youtube it was a life changing thing for me!
( be careful from the hot glue when you use it, it hurts so bad if it touches your hands )
I just use gorrila tape it works really well
Thanks
Use shoe goo and it lasts longer and looks better. Put a thin layer of clear shoe goo on the toe of your front foot right when you get them and they will last 10x as long
so i didnt watch the video yet, but the tab on a wheel bolt works. But i had to put one on my dirt bike to get outta the hills. i lost my axle nut somewhere al all I could find was a tab and speaker wire. so I wrapped the bolt threads with the stripped bare wire and then twisted on the tab. made it up and over the mountain and safely back to the trucks. Im surprised someone else had to find this hack. lol
They didn't even address this hack.
Good shoe tip. Use old jeans cut out and wood glue at holes on shoe. Simple and efficient, and bottom of the shoe you can use wood glue or super glue with old bike tubing or even jeans, old shoe ect
I just rubber cement and stitched a piece of leather to my shoes
If your a beginner and you are having trouble turning a certain direction (left or right) then go on a flat or hilled(hilled is better so you can focus on turning and not pushing on the concrete) non-busy area and turn you skateboard in the direction you are comfortable with and try to turn your board until it is going straight. Hope this will help
1:23 for beginners drawing foot positioning with chalk or a stick helps
I’ve never thought of the metal ruler thing I’m curious to see the results
For a cheap Cruser board what I have seen is people buy a Kryptonics cruiser board often sold for under $50 if under 222 pounds then upgrade the trucks either with stuff they have already have on the riser or work on upgrading the trucks in the cushion spacer parts of the trucks and adjusting the rest of the action to their liking.
My cruiser was from Beleev for only 40-50 dollars and it’s really good quality. Highly recommend
@@loganuselmann1853 beleev is trash dont buy it
@@quinoa5073 really? I had no idea. My cruiser was a Christmas present from a relative, I thought it was really good quality and relatively inexpensive?
@@loganuselmann1853 it’s a nice board to start out with but the trucks are no name generics and the board is pretty weak
it would be better to save your money and buy a legit cruiser than to buy a beleev
but if you enjoy your beleev board enjoy it and keep skating bro !! 🙌🏼🛹🤝🏼
@@quinoa5073 oh alright sick, good to know! Yea man I don’t very fancy stuff so the trucks are alright for me and I’m not too worried about the board. I do want to get a better one eventually!
Also Its good to look out for sales i got a pair of Adidas Superstars for 60 Bucks when normally they cost like 100
This guy deserves a ton for his edits, great video as always!
I use shorties wax because it is the cheapest name brand skate wax and it lasts for like a month or two before I have to put another layer on an obstacle I’m skating

even cheaper way is to just tighten the wheels to where it barely spin or don’t spin.
that can fuck up your bearings. I wouldn't do it on bearings I liked.
Not possible with good bearings and spacers. You should use old set of wheels with bad bearings and no spacers, that way it will be able to stop it from spinning
@@xxbrkdwnxx are my wheels supposed to shake when I ride or is there something wrong with my bearings? I’ve been thinking about taking them out and putting them back in to see if it stops the shake but would I just need knew bearings?
@@loganuselmann1853 it depends on waht you mean by "shake" a little rattle is normal if you don't tighten your wheels all the way down. but if the wheel is shaking as in you can feel it through the board then the bearings are bad or they aren't seated properly.
@@xxbrkdwnxx yea they rattle when I ride and make my feet vibrate. It’s super loud too
When I was a kid we melted crayons and smeared it all over the unpainted concrete curb in front of our poor neighbor's. It was unsightly and messier than shit especially when it melted in the summers.
Mobbed through the hood again recently and the entire sidewalk is still blacker than the asphalt next to it. I'm convinced we took thousands off that poor dudes asking price, and he never said a word to us.
You can steal a Traffic sign from the street to get a sheet metal. Easy, simple, and very cheap

"...you can customize it to suit your own needs." as he shows a footage with a grinder. This guy knows what's up.
arguably one of the most important spare parts
lool i think it was a yo-yo but I like where you're heads at haha
I can't share your criticism on skate trainers. I haven't tried them yet, but I'm totally comfortable on a rolling board (I owned boards on and off for about 20 years - cruisers and longboards in the last years though), just didn't really learn any tricks yet (mostly commuting). Practicing flatground tricks is a whole different thing - it's scary imho..
6:39 hey that’s me! Lol
I started skating around 2 or 3 years ago but because of covid and how I have really rocky driveway I couldn't really practice much and also my board rusted and doesn't turn properly so last monday I got a new board from salt rock and now I can finally go down slopes without crashing into my brother while at the skatepark and the new skateboard goes in a staight line (my old boards base for the trucks was not aligned with the other truck so yeah)
Buenisimo el vídeo, from Madrid, Spain.
Thanks so much
Thanks to the sponsor, I know how where to make my website!
Back in the days I used to collect my grandma’s burned out candles and burned them into one chomp and use that as wax it was working really well 🤘😎
you can use a toothbrush and some spit to knock gunk loose on your grip that the grip cleaner can't tackle. wipe up anything left afterwards by dabbing a paper towel on it.
About guitar stands - you can buy these guitar wall hangers as well - they're dirt cheap and are very good for hanging skateboards
I use large 3M hooks and shoelaces just looped around the trucks to hang my boards.
Costs less than $5 a board and less damage to the walls and when not in use, they double as hat racks/ wall art as i have the trucks facing outwards , i want to see my graphics . 👍
Back when my geriatric ass still skated me and my buddies would go to the local thrift store and buy all the candles they had (you could usually get multiple good sized ones for $1) break em up and pack them into cup cake sheets to melt them into shape. Not the best wax but it worked and when you live 30+ minutes to the closest walmart and 2+ hours from any kind of skate shop/ park in the pre e-shopping days, you did what you had to lol. I did the content man, brings back loads of memories and makes my old ass wanna get a board again lol.
Another hack you can also use candles as wax they work really well but don’t light it just use a normal stick of candle and use it
I can't tell if this is a joke or not
@jenniferdunstan5065 it's not. I used to always do this as a kid (because skate wax was waaaay too expensive for me, I got maybe 1 stick per year), so I used candles like crazy. Skate Wax is mostly made of paraffin, which is what candles are.
@@jenniferdunstan5065 im not joking

My dad gave me his old one but bought new hardwear for the cruiser and fixed the wheels
Instead of the grip/sandbelt cleaner, a worn out running shoe/sneaker can clean it too. I’ve seen woodworkers clean sanding belts with an old shoe. They just need a rubber sole.
Totally going to try the tennis ball trick with my niece and nephew, they're struggling to do more than stand on theirs for s few minutes before giving up and getting on their bikes
Thank you
Splattergoat has custom grip for around 14 bucks a sheet.
7:20 ive been using my old guitar wall hooks to hang my boards for a bit now :)
We used to use cardboard to cover up the gaps and you can even use it to skate on the grass or other rough areas of asphalt
If you don't have enough tennis ball's just use a crack form the road(that's what I usually do)
(It worked for me)
my personal tips are:
*use an old toothbrush or nail brush with some dish water on your grip tape
*use a screwdriver and pliers if you don't have a t-tool
*use mineral oil to lube your bearings, and acetone nail polish remover (100 acetone) to clean them
*store skateboards under your bed or desk if you can't find a guitar rack
*wall or wood putty to fix chips and cracks, or superglue for some stuff
Also try and shop local too my local skate shop sometimes sells things at cheaper price then amazon plus you're supporting your scene.
2:08
this is how i do it
1. i get a deck
2. paint it matte black with a 2$ spraypaint
3. get stickers (i just printed mine then glued it on the deck
4. get a 5$ clear grip tape
5. glue your printed stickers on the board
6. put on the clear grip
7. you're done just poke some holes on the clear grip to get rid of the air bubble
after that, it will give you the illusion that the stickers is printed on the grip tape
You can use candels instead using skating wax or golf wax 👍👍👍
This is not really a saving money tip but if you have a market basket near you they probably have a recycling center where you can put cans and bottles and they will give you 5 cents per bottle so you can save up money
you should make a top 10 best Woodward skateparks in the country
Getting some belt sander cleaner next time I go to the hardware. Thanks!
6:54 wtf! I forgot about this youtube completely! His yt name was something like „dailyknoedel“. I watched him in 2013 I think.
I am not sure how you found that footage, but thank you xD that made my day
You can also use curb candy which is like gulf wax but colors
informative video, but I have to disagree with your framing of skate trainers. If the purpose was to prevent moving while standing on the board, a simple crack would suffice. Skate trainers are more useful for getting over the fear of the board slipping out when you land a trick wrong. For me, years ago, it had nothing to do with balance or feeling comfortable riding the board. It had to do with landing too much on the tail or nose and falling. Early in skating, you have higher adrenaline when learning tricks, and aren't used to falling, so the risks are higher when even doing flat ground tricks. The risks are multiplied considering you are going to fall a lot due to being a novice. By using trainers or tightening your wheels, it gets you used to being in the air, flipping and catching the board. You are basically controlling certain variables, and then slowly bringing them back in. After a while you start learning tricks without them and while moving, but in many ways they act as skate trick training wheels to build confidence and get you to commit. Similar to grass, but practicing in grass sucks and takes away your pop. Just my 2 cents.
Lucky as a Metalhead skater, who plays guitar, I happen to have a few guitar stands that I don’t use or don’t need so that hack is perfect for me. 👍
Balance boards of good quality can also be bought at ikea it sound dumb but they are good
8:53 “you have to get used to riding and and balancing on a board before learning tricks”
*proceeds to balance on the side of the skate board*
With the metal ruler tip i just thought of how you could chain together the ruler like with a board or rope or if your fancy just weld them
Another skate box w video
i have an old nash skateboard that my stepdad uses when he was my age and it has a big chip in the nose but it turned it into a cruiser board with th cruiser wheeles my mom gave me.
Wire brush removes enough grime from sandpaper to make it grip though it will stay dirt-coloured.
I got a balance board for Christmas and I love itits from Wahu
You could even use old candles as a wax sobstitute if you buy them it’s cheaper and if you still have some from some party is even free
Hey I tried the guitar rack thing with my skateboard but it didn’t work.
Look up for some spinners and brake'em to get bearings for an emergency
i have that skateboard in the clip where the person was throwing broken skate boards its the one with a tiger on it
what if you just use it skating for commutinghome and back?
I seen some kids use candles to wax things like their trucks and ledges reckon that would work
Even cheaper that a guitar stand to store your boards out of the way, a large 3M hook useing shoe goo to glue it to the wall as the tape is shit and surprisingly the shoe goo dosent trash your wall paint if you want remove the hook and i have a long spare shoe lace tied in to a long loop hooked around my trucks letting me hang my boards on the walls with very easy access to get them down to be used.
I genrally have the bottom of the deck facing outwards as you can just stick a bit of paper to the wall to stop the grip tape messing up the paint on the walls, wheels leave a lot more mess too and thoughout winter when its to wet to skate or just plain out not in use they double as wall art / hat racks ,hanging anything from hats to spare sets of wheels threaded on to a shoe laces off each side of your trucks .
2nd tip, dont buy wheel cases, just thread them on a shoe lace to keep them all together.
I put spare bareings, wheel and kingpin nuts caps and washers on to shoes laces too and if i snap a lace, ive always got a few in with my skate gear that i can just pilfer one from my gear straight away.
Shoe laces have many uses that double as a cheap solution to gear you dont need that will be sold to you at a much greater cost.
If anything has hole in it ,it can be stored on a shoe lace .
Currently i have one of my boards hanging by a shoe lace right next to my front door that has a zip up hoody , a scarf, a beanie, a belt and 3 sets of wheels with spare washers and wheel nuts on shoe laces all hanging off my trucks/wheels that i can just grab anything off it on my way out the door or in the warmer months when i dont need the cold weather gear next tothe door i can just grab my deck on my way out the door.
Got a few other decks hanging down the hall way all by 3M hooks and shoe laces too. .
In stead of a metal ruler I just go steal a no parking sign the bolts fits my sk8 tool
I really don't get skate trainers if I don't want the board to move I just take the wheels off and practice on carpet
in my experience candles were the best wax i had
new video lets go
You can also use candles or bee wax instead of skatewax, and build ur own skaterack. DIY is fr cheap asf, and it works sometimes!

I just buy shoes at thrift store like a normal price for a shoe in my country is 209-467 and the thrift store sells them for 60
ive built numerous things for my friends and have only hurt them like twice i think
We used street signs for run up cracks in the 90s
I live rural and we can find soo much sheet metal that’s basically perfectly fine lol
It makes life easyr
so me and my best friend for a long time live nest to each other....he lives in the front office with a back yard, after the person moved out that wad behind him down a dirt road i convinced my dad to movedback there as we were in an apartment and i hated it. so his back yard would be my front yard.....for one of his b days some guy was moving and he had like a 4 foot mini ramp he needed to sell and his dad bought it for like 150-200 which it was in good condition. it was nice to have a mini ramp to skate every day and had to go no where.....this was a long time ago......the price of lumber now and days is crazy
powell decks are 10-15 dollars cheaper than most other well known brands and they are very durable. i haven’t tested it myself but i have heard this from a bunch of people
The deck that lasted me the longest (by far) was a powell premade lmao. One of my first decks, good ol memories
3:34 lol that's el hotzo, a german instagram comedian
If you don’t have shoo goo, super glue also works pretty well
to build off this: depending on the application hot glue may be better. if you’re looking to keep your insoles from moving a small hot glue bead/shoe goo is the way to go as it creates small sticky ridges that will create friction but not make them impossible to remove. to adhere things, for sure super glue
The brand Loctite has actual "shoe glue" I work at a home depot and probably any hardware store has it for half the price of name brand shoo goo
Just use rubber griptape. Problem solved.
but what if i use candles as wax
You could use an old candle for skate wax
Depends on the candle. Some just make the ledge sticker and not slicker.
I've heard that banana peel works like wax. not the outside but the inside.

#1skate trainers are horrible for learning they prevent u from rolling after u land the trick so u don't get the real feeling of rolling away which messes ur balance up #2 u just explained everything that any real true passionate skater would already know common sense

I use a candle as skate wax.

u dont eaven have to buy a guitar stand for ur boards if u have complete boards, not only decks because u can use old trucks instead. just scree them in ur wall and u can hang ur boards from those and it looks cool and unicue too. if u dont have old trucks u can boy like a 20$ walmart board and take the trucks, i did that and it works perfectly and looks rlly sick
