Neutral evil creatures are probably the most dangerous evil, since they don't feel bound by rules, traditions, or laws (like lawful evil), but they are also not as impulsive or short-sighted as chaotic evil.
Certainly a gang of Tweens is terrifying... They're immature enough to just make fun of you for no reason, But old and aware enough to mock you in an accurate way 😔
A Tween bonded to a cleric of Beshaba is a self perpetuating bad luck sphere…and one self loathing cleric. This is BEAUTIFUL synergy…now I want to see this
I can imagine a Tween host and a clockwork soul sorceror getting along surprisingly well. Clockwork Sorceror basically rebalances their luck by negating that disadvantage is likely the only person that can be around them without their luck going into absolute shit.
AJ excellent work as always. I'm enjoying the rap at the ends. I find your depth of knowledge amazing and your ability to string concepts together to be truly inspired. I hope you are having a great week mate.
Hey AJ love the work ! I’ve been a big fan for years and am a forever DM . I was wondering would you do a video on the Dracolisk ? Would be cool to see it get a video , thanks again and adventure on !
This brings back so many. one of my DM mispoke this monster name. DM: you spell appears to work but there seems to someone or something hiding. The party: we would like to do an check on the stone tablet that is guiding us. DM: Okay the party: rolls with proficiency and succeed. DM: you and the party sees that the tablet mentions a creature that could appear if the spell is done correctly. this particular monster are called twinks.... DM and the party : silence the party starts laughing
Meanwhile, I'm over here with a bad case of ROLLtergeists. I'm pretty certain that something is feeding on my luck, but not drawing it in. I'll play a whole session without rolling double digit number. My polterDICE are a scourge. Reminds me of Niven's Ringworld- the character Teela Brown has psychic luck. She is sent along on a mission as a good luck charm, only for the crew to learn that luck protects her, /but only her/.
As far as I can tell, the first usage of "tween" as a description of age was from J.R.R. Tolkien, used to describe hobbits aged 20-33. Considering how much D&D borrows from Tolkien, I'm surprised that these are entirely unrelated to halflings.
Immagine a litch, with a tween familar/sidekick. Togeather, they would cause "unfortunate acidents," for the litch to harvest souls from, while the tween gets protection and companionship from the litch.
I always wondered what happened to a tween if its host were to travel to the astral or outer planes. It's stuck in the border ethereal after all. A tween could kill your adventuring career, unless you never did anything other than solo adventures. An assassin with a bonded tween could be kind of scary. And if that failed you could always become a professional gambler. An evil wizard (or a desperate one) could purposely bond with a tween in order to improve his chances of accomplishing some important task, then when that's done phase to the border ethereal and kill his tween.
Hey AJ, I remember the Tween being an odd monster but not that odd. Imagine if a Tween attached it self to a group of halflings with the lucky feat, lol. I think these days the Tween makes a great opportunity for roll playing. Thanks for the video you have a wonderful day!
I once created a (1e version) bard who used his abilities to alienate rather than charm or attract people. (For instance, he would deliberately sing off-key.) He was Chaotic Neutral, shunning other people. He ended up finding himself bound with a Tween. This suited him fine, because his luck improved, and others wouldn't go near him because of the bad luck effect.
It's not even convertable, its basically a person in a leather gimp suit with different titles per level. I would have to invent the entire class, and I am NOT going to do that.
Its certainly Tom Baxa art from 1992, Dark Sun was published 1991, so it may have been used twice, I don't know the specifics other than where I sourced the image, and that was the Monstrous Compenium (MC14) Fiend Folio Appendix (for 2nd edition AD&D).
@ Yeah, my brain isn’t clicking on where I saw it before. I want to say it was after the 2nd campaign setting boxed set, so it might have been recycled from the MC14 rather than the other way around. That was just as the dark times were getting into full swing, you know? It’s probably going to torture me enough to dig them out of storage for another read, so that’s a plus. Dark Sun always was my favorite, but hardly anyone wanted to actually play it. The artwork was such a departure from Easley and Elmore that it made a huge impact in my memory.
@AJPickett whaha nice! Well thought. And thank you for the making of these videos. Lots of cool new thought material. I am curious what depictions of these creatures (and those you've made video's about already) matches your imagination the best or which one's you like the most, and the least haha. Cheers!
@@pvhep4036 10:13 is the image I think best represents the appearance of a Tween on the material plane. There are VERY few images from other source, this video basically quadrupled the images of the Tween now in existence.

The scariest dnd monster, children aged between 10 and 13.
Sir, a Tween is just a yarn-ball of insecurities and puberty...
I mean, you're not wrong 😅
Wonderful concept. Terrible name
This is next level. Your ability to casually state mind-bending concepts is one of my favorite things about this channel
Thank you sir!
That song was really good. Also, excellent lecture beforehand, as usual.
Feeds on probability. Now you know you're in DnD lore!

Piercings in strange places and disturbing tattoos, so Tweens are the sort of people you meet at the Waffle-House at 3 AM
