The vocal group formed by Cheryl Bentyne, Alan Paul, Janis Siegel and Janis Siegel is mainly related to jazz, but also to other musical genres, as Brazilian Jazz, rhythm & blues, a capella, vocalese and swing.
This is what genius sounds like.
Tim Hauser was a genius for not only assembling the best voices on the planet, but knowing how to use them, and for helping the group be unique and incredible, and be it first with Laurel, or the second one with Cheryl, become a master class in the different music the human voice can create. They are unsurpassed masters of nearly every type of music, especially jazz. They can sing anything. I saw them the year Cheryl first joined, and 40 odd years later I am still soaring. Thank you Mr. Hauser, you are deeply missed. Rest in Peace great sir.
No disrespect to Laurel, but it was only with the arrival of Cheryl that TMT became something more than the sum of its individual parts. Whether it's a technical/vocal thing or a personality thing, I don't know, but the blend of that particular group of four was magic. And no disrespect to Trist either, but there was always going to be a huge Tim Hauser-shaped gap in the TMT that was impossible to fill.
Including Laurel Massé….who had a car accident and had to become a solo artist….
I listen to this song daily on my Corner Pocket in my home with happiness in my heart.😂❤
Proabaly my favorurite vocal group EVER. I heard them live at least nine times, and finally got to meet all four of them. Wayne Gershovski (BTW) is one of the greatest keyboard players/arrangers ever, too!~
And Wayne is with them for decades - and added value!
Though there is simply no dud here, I was heartbroken when Tim passed...
@@basiefriend His name is Yaron, not Wayne.
I can listen to this forever. It’s one of my favorite MT. Hauser was a genius.
What Man Tran is all about. They all shine. RIP TIm .
I first saw them in Munich also but in ‘75 supporting second album. What a show. The audience ranged from tuxedos and pearls to ripped jeans and peasant shirts. “Gloria” brought the house down. One of my top 10 concerts ever.
the show must go on bravo allan paul
Manhattan Transfer is my favorite group. I also went to a performance in Japan. Among them, it is my favorite number. I am so sorry that Tim Houser passed away. I remember that the Japan performance I saw was Alec Blake on bass and Buddy Williams on drums.
My gosh, how this takes me back. I got hip to the Transfer in '73 as a 22 year old kid. Yep, this kid
who dug Muddy Waters, the Rolling Stones and Foghat got hooked immediately. Watching the group
on tv, I got the feeling that they loved the music they sang and dug each other as friends. That made
their music just that more special to me.
What a rhythm section! Poppin’! Bass player swings like mad!
Poor Alan had a broken arm. Didn’t hurt his singing. Love TMT!
Love this quality no one could ever match them
I never got to see them live. So thankful for videos like this.
I love Manhattan transfer. I'm happy they are still working 😊❤️👍🌞😎.
remembering TIM..
One of TMT's best performances on RUclips! Great sound quality for live performance too. The TMT Band was A++ on this number, all esp. bass player! RIP Tim.
This is just great, and thanks to TMT for every moment I've spent listening to them. So much love to all! Mr Tim Hauser you are missed!♥
I dance along with the transfer.¡¡♡♡
One of my favourite songs from TMT. They never disappoint going from recording to live - the mark of true artists. No Autotune required!
I should have been Munich when they were in 1991. Love Freddie Greene, who wrote the song, Count Basie and, oh... this Manhattan group. Hat tip and love.
Vocal artists of the highest order
Pure class
doesnt get any better !!
never ever when manhatten transfer are singing
i love those dodgy harmonies man - this tune reminds me of that annie ross tune twisted
I was there!!!
HA! Love the percussionist toweling off at 3:27 lol
love love love the Manhattan Transfer, been binge-watching them on RUclips lately, coming across some of these old concerts. My god they sound great here, they are all soooo incredibly talented and work off each other so well! Janis looks cute as a button here, love her hair and look during this period.
This is great. MT you have given me countless hours of listening enjoyment. Thank you.
Love the song and the vocal combinations are fantastic!
Wowwwww so precious
I know lovely song
Benny Bailey from the same show as this is another great performance.
Why would someone dislike this? Like, I get it if it’s not your thing (well, not really), but RESPECT ✊ THE TRANSFER. 😘
Really _The American Beauty_ !
Excellent
Oh yeah!!
Formidáveis! Nota 10.🎉
I love the transfer, I was lucky enough to see them along with Oscar Peterson. Some people use these commentarys to go off on tangents that have nothing to do with this great music. Well different strokes......
The Transfer group is incomparable,a singing style of its own.😆🤩
RIP, TH. Love this act.
Excellent!!
Toda una joya.que no pasara de moda .
The best.
Also, Cheryl.
Great and hot!
I love their "instrumentals". I can't listen to Four Brothers without thinking of them... Did they ever front Basie's band?
With Laurel going strong!
Friends, this is a big band Tune. You made it much more than this….
Always my favorites love the transfer rip Tim hauser I am not crazy about the dude they got to replace him love anne
Tim is irreplaceable, that's why!
no autotune!
This is out of the svale…..
Almost better than the Basie original!
The two women really aged from 81 to 91. Like 20yrs. Tim Hauser always looked the same.
