And my ancestor compiled & wrote music in the original Southern Harmony - a shaped note versions of the 1st recorded American music. His name is Ingalls.
I saw the Crowes in a small bar while home on leave in the early 90's. I stood in line with Chris, between sets, waiting for a beer like everyone else. He was very generous to the fans and a "regular guy." Their first album was just getting airplay at that time. I heard "She Talks to Angels" for the very first time that night, like most of us. The following night, I saw them open for ZZ Top at the Joe Louis Arena. Getting to see the Black Crowes in such a small venue was a highlight of my youth and an evening I'll never forget. That bar, as well as the Joe Louis Arena, are both gone now. Getting old sucks.
@@cstocker77 "The Ritz" in Roseville, MI. Just outside of Detroit. They used to book a lot of up-and-coming bands. Saw my fair share of really great shows there.
That’s awesome! Saw them in my early twenties 3 times. I saw Chris two years ago in Philadelphia. He played all the Crowes music and still can sing his ass off!
This is one of the most wonderfully put together songs, the layers, the swell of the guitars coming in, the soulful vocals, the guitar solo duel, so much going on and then those backing vocals and piano and organ, and you can hear every note! It is so beautifully produced, performed and arranged
They went and grabbed two sistas in the middle of choir rehearsal and told them to get on the mic because their voices are pure gospel, honey. This song attracted me because of all its bluesy soulness, and Chris' voice is straight fire. The groove goes so deep. It's so hard to believe this was almost 30 years ago but I still wear them out on my playlist rotation. 💗🔥🔥
I won a dance contest (I was only one participating probably) in 5th grade, and the prize was The Black Crowes and The Cars on cassette tape! I listened to both tapes on my Walkman hundreds of times. Then I saw them live when I was 12 in Savannah, Ga! They are so unusual for that time period.. Their style of blues rock music was already out of fashion for a decade, hair metal was HUGE but on its last legs, and grunge lurked on the horizon. Ah, the memories. 2021, now 41, and love it more now than ever.
I am a music freak. It is my passion. I have been trying to decide for years what is THE PERFECT SONG. I finally decided. IMO She Talks To Angels by Black Crowes is THE perfect song. The lyrics, the music and the vocals. There is no better song. Always will love the Crowes ❤❤❤❤❤
I remember back when I was in high school, I'd sleep with my stereonon all night, and this song would came on every night around midnight, and I loved hearing it come on. Man, I love little simple memories like those.
" You tell me with a whisper of things that will never be " That verse hit very hard with me when this came out . I didn't know at the time that I was in love with a narcissistic woman.
One of the best arranged blues- gospel songs I have ever heard. I never get tired of hearing it because of it's complexity and the energy that Chris and company brought it to life!!
I watched this in 1993, as I was beginning to get good at learning to play rock tunes by ear on the guitar, and it just blew my mind. I thought to myself that making music in such settings with my buddies was basically the apex of what life could ever offer to us mortals. I also recorded this video from a TV show (there was no MTV available for me at the time) on a VHS tape, so I could watch it before going to school. No need to say how that helped get countless great days started.
I saw Black Crows open for Grateful Dead in April 1995 in Tampa, Fl. I was 20. From what I remember it was amazing even in Jerry's declined state. Crows blew my mind that day. Truly an incredible live band.
Well I just checked it was April 4th and 5th in Birmingham wow synchronicity. That was the last Jerry Show I saw I'm fifty-nine now I started following them in 1980 Good Times
I DON'T REMEMBER HOW MANY TIMES I'VE SEEN THEM. WHEN THEY WERE JUST STARTING OUT I SAW THEM AT A CLUB IN HOUSTON, TEXAS. THE A/C WAS OUT BUT HE SAID ,,"IF Y'ALL WANNA STAY WE'LL PLAY" IT WAS 100 DEGREES OR HOTTER IN THERE BUT THEY PLAYED & CHRIS DANCED LIKE HE DOES. IDK HOW HE DIDN'T PASS OUT. I WAS RIGHT UP FRONT. SWEATING MY BUTT OFF AND I WASN'T MOVING AROUND LIKE THEY WERE. I'M SURPRISED I DIDN'T PASS OUT. THAT CLUB STAYED PACKED THE ENTIRE TIME THEY PLAYED. TALK ABOUT A DEDICATED BAND. THIS WAS RIGHT AFTER THEIR 1st ALBUM CAME OUT..I WAS ALREADY A DEDICATED FAN. DANG. IT WAS HOT IN THAT CLUB. IT WASN'T EVEN A BIG CLUB. WE WERE PACKED IN THERE ALL SWEATY.
Saw these guys in Salina, Ks. At a venue called the Steifel theater. About 15 years ago. Might have been a hundred people, but they played like there was 10,000. I was broke and bought the cheapest ticket available. Nose bleed balcony seat. Ended up about 10 rows back dead center. I went from being a casual fan to having them live in my soul. Forever greatfull I got to see them. ❤
Shh Wake me when the day breaks Show me how the sun shine Tell me about your heartache Who could be so unkind? Do you dream to touch me? And smile down deep inside Or could you just kill me? Let's talk a minute.I saw these guys young & hungry, during shake your money maker,in a relitavley intimate setting. It was one of the most awesome things I've ever seen.Probably300 people.Chris was every where.I love that guy, musically.
This track reminds me of earlier days in the early Eighties. By the end of high school I had my license and inherited my mum's Chrysler station wagon. My younger brother played drums, so I got roped into roadie duties now and then. One long week-end we drove about eight hours, with Made's drum kit in the back, north of Sydney to a commune in the coastal bushland of Bundagen. It was night by the time we got there and a party was in full swing. A band was playing, beer, food and other 'goodies' were being passed around, half naked girls and guys were wafting and twirling about the place. There were three guitarists on stage in addition to the bass player but they seemed to be able to put their egos aside and just groove along together. Kinda like the Black Crowes; they had that natural groove feel.
Such a great band I'm so glad to hear they are still touring with Aerosmith I got tickets last year and then we all know the show got postponed I wasn't sure if the black crows were still going to play man it made my day when we finally got a new date and found out the black crows are still on board yessa can't wait
For me the Black Crowes are one of the best bands ever to come out of America.
I agree bud
From Atlanta and just saw em live. Go see them if you haven't live they're one of the best live bands ever too
Totally agree, they are in my top 5 ever hands down. Nobody touches me emotionally like they do.
I totally agree! Was blessed to see them play a couple of times back in the day. It's great to see that they got back together and maybe made amends.
Whiskey and t
"I don't always listen to the Black Crowes, but when I do so do the neighbors". Good times my friends.
My neighbours listen to the black crowes all the time
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yes!!!
That's exactly right in my case as well
God, this is the perfect comment! Yaz!!!
Hahaha! 🤣🤣🤣
Hey This Song From the Black Crows Great For October Friday 13th 2023
The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion is one of my top three albums of all time. Never gets old.
I whole heartedly concur
Yes definitely
And my ancestor compiled & wrote music in the original Southern Harmony - a shaped note versions of the 1st recorded American music. His name is Ingalls.
Athens
This is a very special album to me. Amorica as well. I need both for road trips. Both are so deep and dynamic!

The Black Crowes are to be played
Extremely loud
Every Day ,mamy times😊
It's so worth being old now to have been young then.......

You've been so lucky tho
Which bar was it?

Wiser for The Time
That’s awesome! Saw them in my early twenties 3 times. I saw Chris two years ago in Philadelphia. He played all the Crowes music and still can sing his ass off!
A masterclass of songwriting and rock n roll. Rivals the Stones
This is one of the most wonderfully put together songs, the layers, the swell of the guitars coming in, the soulful vocals, the guitar solo duel, so much going on and then those backing vocals and piano and organ, and you can hear every note! It is so beautifully produced, performed and arranged
Amen.
Yeah, it even sounds great on my laptop's tin sounding speakers.
The fuckin blues is strong with this one
Real musicians
Real arrangements
Right on
Yeesss !! The arrangement is exceptional . Bad to the bone .
Every Rock n Roll album should be required, by law, to include at least one track that features the Hammond B 3.
heard that b3 and thought... man that's what we are missing in my band
No laws in Rock bro
My favorite band❤
I’ve been a Crow-head for 30 years. This song redeems the 90’s, musically. All of their music is a huge sigh of relief. Their sound brings joy ❤️
12/24/2023. ❤
… merry christmas …😊…
Best song ever. Must be the Hammond.
Definitely the Hammond
The B3 always gets you
Definition of 'southern funk'. Black Crowes is one of many great bands out of the region!!!!!!!!!!
Then you tell me with a whisper of things that will never be...
I think I've listened to this song at least a dozen times tonight. So many memories of this point and time of my life. So much relevance today.
The entire album was emblematic to me, one of my main coming of age albums.
That would make you almost ipso facto the perfect woman.
Chris Robinson is one of the most Underrated SOUL singer...wow!!!
Saw them in 2023, best damn concert I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen a bunch!
Thank the Lord for the Black Crowes, what a crappy world it would be without such legendary musicians. I have a Black Crow Soul, and I'll never change
Dam!!!!! They don’t make bands like this any more. Black Crowe’s rule
One of the absolute best southern symphonies ever. Thank you Black Crowes
Amazing tune. Perfect blend of Southern Rock, R & B and Gospel. Probably Chris Robinson's best vocal ever.
Elvis was right real rock &rock are embodied by these elements and of course the blues!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊🎸🎶🎼💯🎵
This is by far the best black crows song
One of the BEST BANDS EVER...
Their very best song. And just about one of the best songs in History.
Heard this on the radio tonight 10/21/21. Almost forgot how good it was.

2021 june
Yesterday.... and the day before. Not much is timeless! You have great taste
They went and grabbed two sistas in the middle of choir rehearsal and told them to get on the mic because their voices are pure gospel, honey. This song attracted me because of all its bluesy soulness, and Chris' voice is straight fire. The groove goes so deep. The sistas and Chris brought incredible energy to this song and CD
Amen 🙏🏾☝🏾🙏🏾
I love this awesome comment!! 🎸

that's amazing that your prize featured the two bands that arguably had the greatest American rock music debut albums in the past 40 years.
Awesome 😊
The Best Black Crowes Line-up
2021. Still kicking ass.

The only band that has that "Stones" sound
This whole album is a gem
" You tell me with a whisper of things that will never be " That verse hit very hard with me when this came out . I didn't know at the time that I was in love with a narcissistic woman.
Sorrow and joy in lessons learned

The Black Crowes always give me a Thorn in my Pride.
Rock on Crowes
So many memories! I've been listening to this song since I was a kid but the emotions are always the same! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Fuck, such soulful music! Beautiful
This is The "Purple Rain" of The Crowes, no doubt!!
The best is last and first is the mission of what once was missing. 🐝 blessed in God's success with Jesus. 💕 👉
My favorite Crowes song from my favorite Crowes album
Mine also. 😢
Chris's vocals always remind me of the great Steve Marriot's...luv the Crowes
One of the best arranged blues- gospel songs I have ever heard. I never get tired of hearing it because of it's complexity and the energy that Chris and company brought it to life!!
Quality m8 they made the 90s a lot more bearable music ly
One of the best songs ever written and played.

Beautiful song,in my opinion one of the best bands ever..
Agreed! Very under rated
Have seen them countless times live in concert. They are amazing. We were never disappointed.
Saw them in concert in Knoxville. They totally rocked. May have sounded even better live. Great band!!
Black Crowes..
Stones meets Faces

Beautiful🎼🎵🎶
One of my favorite bands ever. I have seen them four times and each show, they left it all out on stage. Their sound is so tight and dynamic live.

the reason I love the black crowes so much is the harmony , this and Nonfiction are a example.
You just can't beat a Black Crowes concert. There is nothing that compares. They are playing in Little Rock tonight and I'm going to miss it. Damn..
Today's Crowes blow compared to the prime era version. It's not even a band anymore, just the Robinsons and cheap, hired guns.
Hell of a job on them drums Steve
One of the most amazing tunes ever written ❤🙌😍
I haven't heard this song in roughly 20 years, but I still remembered the lyrics. Amazing how (good) music imprints us.
Music in the early 90’s was amazing, and I think the bands all looked as good as they sounded, such a great time to be young.
What a magnificent frontman Chris Robinson is. Weed and The Black Crowes are my best college memories.
I rember seeing them at Atlanta pot fest in '92 in Piedmont Park
This is a Dam good song ❤
Big swinging riffs and a big swinging beat by Steve Gorman was the secret sauce of this band.
Unforgettable 🥰🫶
Such a great band I'm so glad to hear they are still touring with Aerosmith I got tickets last year and then we all know the show got postponed I wasn't sure if the black crows were still going to play man it made my day when we finally got a new date and found out the black crows are still on board yessa can't wait
Just pure magic🎸🎸… they sang the story of my life for many years. Saw them at lest 100 times.. music like this never ever ever gets old… just us 🙏
I love ❤️ the Black Crowes soulful musicians by far this is my favorite song 🎵

This is the best song by TBC. It just is.
Simply can not listen to this song in its entirety without ending up a mess, on the floor, in tears
My favorite band prior to the Rival Sons..
This song is so fuckin’ amazing every single time
Still Jamming in 2022

I was 25 in '92 and songs from Southern Harmony were present everywhere. Great times and timeless music , Thanks Crowes!
I feel you bro!
I was 28. Great time in music
