Great Channel, I appreciate the work you're putting into helping us out with RB. I have a question maybe you can help. Serato has a feature called Custom Crate, does Rekordbox have a similar feature? So for instance in my "wedding playlist," I would like comments to appear only in that playlist. And not to appear in my other playlists like Dance Music or Hip Hop Playlists. It seems if I make a change to one of the columns, it globally changes the columns in all my playlists.
👋 yeah as far as I’m aware the column headings are global. I’ll have a bit more of a play when I’m next at the laptop and see if anything can be done

@ReallyChrisM great video! thanks for the tip. Can you please help me out with an issue i have with Gate Cue on XDJ RX3?
For example, the song loaded in is Turn on the lights again, i set the first beat as Cuepoint and when i used the pad to press Gate Cue, it works as a vocal stab button, which is expected.
However, when i set a second cue point at the start of another vocal, after i pressed that Gate Cue button, the channel continues to play and has the sound like i have just pressed pause on the track and does not stop at the cue point after i released, i am not sure why it doesn't work like the first cue point??

Does anyone know a fix for a reverb bug on my flx4? When I activate reverb and turn down the channel volume you can still hear the reverb.
My Rekordbox preferences (like Gate playblack, Eq type, etc) don't copy to the USB when I load into my xdj rr but my playlists, cues, etc. do ??
hey i figured how i can "kill" the sound with high/mid/low knobs, but how do i do that with the cfx/filter knob ? i was using virtual dj before and had that setting but i cant find anyhting for rekordblox how to do that ?

Now all we need is an enhanced "zoom out" feature. I really hate that I can't zoom out further to see the whole tracks overlaying with each others playheads. Every DJ software has it. Only rekordbox refuses to losten to the community! Therefore I made it a habit to call them weekly until they starting listening. Please help me on this!

great vid but you missed one setting all DJs should change... under Analysis you should check - Set Memory Cue at the first beat of track when analyzing and then under Load - Load settings - Playback starts at the beginning of memory / hot cue. Huge time saver that one
Ah good one! I actually disabled that though because it only ever got it right 30% of the time - especially on instrumental intros
Yeah the "set memory cue at first beat" is so woefully bad at actually getting that first beat its a meme at this point. Anything other than EDM and it could end up anywhere :)

I've gone from NI tractor to record box and this is one of the main things I've noticed is how poor record box is at analysing tracks. The other annoyance is in tractor you can right click on any track and see what playlists it exists in which is useful, can't do this in rekordbox which is a shame
@@talmondnb Doesn't help too much on anything other than pure EDM. The setting that governs this the most as far as i can tell is under the "Controller" tab of the preferences. Its the "Auto Cue" where you set the the -dB dropdown. Its still poop though LOL

I faced an issue where my KEY of a track is automatically changed plus or minus 1 semitone when loaded to the deck - it happens randomly and to random tracks. Key sync is always off, and I'm a bit confused about what could be the reason for it - any ideas why this is happening? Thanks in the advance!

I got a question, when I map my cue points on my cdj rx3 they get deleted when I put my USB into rekordbox, never happened before until I updated rekordbox prior to the new uodate, maybe its a setting?
Just in case… I've just discovered that the setting panels are different depending on which "mode" you are using.
Here you can see Chris is using the "performance mode". There's a "Controller" panel (as shown in 0:42) to edit the settings for the controller you plug to your computer.
I'm only using Rekordbox to prepare a USB key with the "export mode". Though you might get confused with the icons, the panel is called "DJ System", and is meant to edit the settings that will be exported to the USB that you use on a CDJ for example.
If you're in this case the "I hated using CDJS…" video is what you need.
I'm using a DDJ FLX4 and if i backspin my jog wheel before the drop hits my backspin spin very slow and stop suddenly it didn't spin long as the DJ,s playing on the Party😅

Hi, I use flx6 and the volume of channel 1 is lower than channel 2 although the crossfader is in the middle, trim levels are same and crossfaders are at the same point. Can it be because of a problem in recordbox setting? How can I make sound at the same volume level? Thanks
Probably the tracks themselves are different volumes. You can set auto gain in the preferences to see if that helps
For the hotcue Gate playback is there an override if you did decide you wanted to bring in the song or would you just keep holding the button?
Hold down the hot cue then press play at the same time. When you release it will continue playing
Great video! However, one more question: is there anything I can do if tracks simply don't have the same volume? It can be horrible if during a transition, the track being brought in suddenly appears to be way louder than the track before!
Auto gain setting can help somewhat

These are awesome tips, but if people aren't using the crossfader for blends anymore (news to me, btw) then the hardware/software should support disabling the crossfader entirely. Why risk bumping it? Hahaha...further along in the vid and really love your presentation style. Thanks for taking the time, sir.
Thanks! You pretty much can disable it on lots of hardware, just set it to ‘thru’ on the channels and then it’ll have no effect
@@ReallyChrisM you're totally right! I just pulled a DJM-250Mk2 out of its box and there's a crossfader bypass position on the crossfader curve selector. Cultural differences...and I guess this explains why the bespoke-hotness rotary mixer market doesn't even include a crossfade knob on the panel in most cases.
hello I have just bought 2 xdj 700 and can't connect and work with rekordbox...i have done everything more than one time...nothing out of nothing....maybe it looks like the RB free plan not allow to be used in perf mode isn't it ?
Yes they are not hardware unlock devices so you would need to pay

I tried to import music from my network attached storage (where I host my own personal “Spotify”) and the program said the address is too long. That’s a shame.
This is a great vid of getting into RB. I am really a vdj user but I dabble in rb from time to time as I got the 800 and 1000.

I think I need to bookmark this video, as AGAIN my rekordbox went weird and defaulted pretty much every setting, but strangely not the Pad FX bindings I'd set. (Maybe because I loaded it before connecting the controller?)

I'm potentially looking at moving away from Traktor. I like to plan my sets using my laptop but can't see on Rekordbox how to have more than two decks. Am I missing something?
At the top left in performance mode is a little drop-down saying something like ‘2 deck view’ you can change that to 4 :)
Do you have to have a controller plugged in. I just downloaded from the website and can't see an option to change it. Or do I need to upgrade to a subscription service?@@ReallyChrisM

Not many but it can be useful if you are doing a scratch routine so you can quickly hop tracks and/or samples
