    Your backyard is looking amazing!! I can relate to much of what you talked about. Moving from a cozy, close knit community in Massachusetts to south Florida was a huge game changer for me. So hard to fit in, find the connections I had etc. I stay true to who I am and I don't follow along with the trends I see in Florida. I may be an outcast and "lonely" but I AM content.

    Thank you for sharing lonely! I actually work in a Vegan Cafe BUT I am 70 1/2 years old and my co-workers are in high school and college except for one person! Sometimes at work (3 days a week) I feel so out of place but on the other hand I feel so comfortable there because it is familiar since I've worked there 2 years now.

    We are a fragrance free house because of severe eczema and asthma. Now I can smell the laundry detergent scents on peoples clothes when they walk by me and it’s soooooo strong. Dry overpowering!

    I moved to Lapland/Finland in Nov 22 and I totally get the feeling of aloneness. New language, long, dark and cold winter and very different culture. But I found vegan friends and my gym community is great and it helped me a lot to be open about my feelings and share the hard stuff, it makes us bond when we are vulnerable with each other. And everyone has their struggles. Big hug!

    As someone who has been healing from a rare illness for the last decade, I intimately understand the meaning of loneliness, and lots of questions get asked when you're in that space. During this time, I have deepened my affections for nature, as many a wind has carried a tear or two and the tree's I find are wonderful listeners. Loving the prairie dresses, Hannah.

    When you have a get together with non-vegan food, do your kids get to choose what to eat or how do you deal with that?

    • @user-no2mz9hl4f
      @user-no2mz9hl4f 7 месяцев назад

      I obviously can’t answer this question, but it were my babies - at that age - I’d probably just lead them to the vegan options. For instance, “Let’s look at what we have to eat! There’s some yummy soup, there’s bread, there’s hummus and veggies - what would you like?” And not even mention the non-vegan food. If they asked about a non-vegan item, I’d probably keep it really simple and say something along the lines of, “I know you love cheese, but that cheese isn’t like the cheese we eat - it’s made from cow milk, and we don’t eat that.” I’d also probably come prepared with some vegan options to round out anything missing from what the hostess prepared, so I might come with a vegan dessert, main, or nibbles - something to share that was vegan, to ensure my littles didn’t feel left out.

      @@user-no2mz9hl4f i understand and for little ones that works, but once they are older and start having their own mind / ideas, it becomes tricky....

    • @user-no2mz9hl4f
      @user-no2mz9hl4f 7 месяцев назад

      @@sandraida5895 I think that once they’re older, it makes sense to let them make those choices for themselves in those situations. They’re old enough to understand what happens to animals, and a lot of children, when told the truth about such things, naturally want to be vegan (especially if they’ve been raised in a vegan home). Otherwise, you can choose not to have animal products in the home or to purchase them for your children, but if they’re at a social event and there’s meat/dairy/eggs and they want to partake, I think you have to allow them to do that.

    I’m the only vegan I know, and it is lonely. I do wish at least some of my friends or family shared my values - it would be so nice. But what’s helped me tremendously is your channel, and other vegan RUclipsrs. Even though we don’t know one another, channels like this one remind me that there are lots of other people in the world who share my vegan values and experiences, and that makes me feel far less alone.

    And loved this video. So beautifully filmed. And thank you for talking about being lonely vegan. I feel that and would love more talk and encouragement as you’re going through it. It’s hard for me to hear because your family and husband is vegan and mine isn’t but it just goes to show that also we have different degrees of lonely and it’s still IS lonely! Example my husband eats mainly vegan and some don’t even do that. But I am always encouraged hearing your perspective!!!

    Being lonely- I was once ….Then I started seeking more like minded people. So on the weekends I would find different farmers markets, or even farm stands, one weekend I went out and picked up trash along the beach and had a picnic lunch on the beach , the next Sunday there were 7 people out there with me cleaning up and having their lunches with me. Every week it seemed to grow the number of people coming . Even though they are not vegan they would be interested in what I was eating and would try it some now eat vegan a few days a week. Now my group of friends who all have different lifestyles meet once a week and discuss what project we are going to do next . We cleaned up yards , anything to make our community a better place. So the loneliness is gone replaced by a group of people I now call friends doing and talking about things we all care about a clean Earth!

    Being content is so hard but a huge part of moving and adjusting to a new place. Im finally learning that. Where we are now isnt the prettiest but there are more blessings when you look for them. Also, being open to people that you might not vibe w right away. There have been alot of times of loneliness . I think it takes about 5 years to truly settle in a place. Its way better then staying in Cali. We would be on the street if we stayed. Im still trying to get my brother out of there.

    I get this. I lived in a very progressive community in Colorado and moved to central Florida. They fry everthing here and if it's not fried they add bacon to it. When you go out with friends your only option is a salad and baked potato. But I make it work, I eat before I go or bring food I can eat to get togethers. I'd rather sacrifice a hearty meal for developing relationships.

    Hey Hannah.
    I wanted to share something. I hope you don't mind.
    I have been watching you and your sister for years. I mean... Like... It feels like since the beginning of you both being on RUclips, definitely before you were on here. I enjoyed your sisters message and day in the life but could never see myself going vegan... I still gained so much from you both despite my animal consumption. I had a strong bias, as we all do, and was eating up the lie that sustainable animal agriculture exists. I got talked out of veganism by the Weston A Price folks and even ended up on my own 5 acre homestead to make sure my food was grown by me. The journey of processing animals is dark. My heart hurts to know what I have done for "food." But all this to say, and... Just to summarize and get to the point. I have turned vegan. And at first I thought going plant based was just a good health decision but it has quickly, and more steadily, become an ethics stance.
    Anyway, I love your bit about loneliness. I have a type 1 kid and life is always full of all the things. I just wanted to say, thank you for shining the light in the darkness and allowing me this space to confess this new vegan life. I am so much more inspired to get rid of all the animal agriculture things I own and begin plant farming instead. I hope to help/inspire others someday, like you and your sister have inspired me.
    I do understand that loneliness of being vegan, I feel like I have to hide it. It took me a bit to confess to my husband I'm plant based now when I just kept forgoing all animal products lol. It felt taboo.
    But you never know who is watching. Maybe we feel lonely in doing what our convictions are guiding us to do so that we can inspire change and then... With enough folks going against the status quo... The loneliness will be replaced by a community. It all starts with one person willing to change tho, right?
    Okay super long post. Thanks for the garden inspo! From Washington State here and I can sympathize with PNW garden life. I hope you have a bountiful harvest this year. Stay joyful Hannah. You are a beautiful soul and thanks for putting out content. It's been wonderful to watch over the years. 🙏

    I am with you on scents after being away from them for so long. I never knew until I went chemical free how bad they were making me feel! Branch basics is the absolute best product on the planet. It can feel very lonely being Vegan or plant based when no one around you is. I’m in Nampa ID and I feel alone very often when around people who don’t understand your values and then can try to make you feel bad about it. I have had my feelings hurt many times over what I choose to put in my mouth and how i decide to live. But yes we all have something others don’t understand. I’m glad you found so many loving humans to surround yourself with. I’m still trying to find mine. ❤
