The petersens got started after there father retired from the airforce.
He wanted to do something that the family could do together as a family.
I think the mother and the oldest sister were music majors in college .
Emit Franz was a member of another musical family. The instrument he plays is called a dobro after the two guys who invented it in the 1940s.

If you truly want to be blown away by that dobro player that's in this video, check out an early video he did with his brother and sisters in their band, The Franz Family, back before he joined the Petersens. Incredibly super talented musicians!!! One of their videos won best music video on Vimeo several years ago.

Always love John Denver, but must admit The Petersons do the song justice.
I love the Petersens. Matt isn’t their strongest lead singer. He does OK, and on backing vocals he’s terrific. I would check out something else by them.
