I've loved this bird ever since I was a kid and saw one for the first time. Absolutely adorable!

I love this bird. It is so pretty. I saw one a while back and it reminded me of the road runner cartoon. It didn’t fly. It just walked really really fast. Every time I moved it went farther away. I wasn’t even going after it. This is also great information. I learn a lot from your videos. Great job as always!

I work Security overnights at a boat marina in South Florida. When I used to hear the call of a killdeer, I thought it was a bat. Then one time I saw one flying in the day making the same bird call. I investigated and found out it is a killdeer.

I work in the city and there is a mama and daddy laying eggs in our gravel lot. I put a rock border around the nest so no one can run over the eggs. I’ve been feeding them wild bird seed but I’m going to get bugs for them. Mama is on her second eggs now. She laid four eggs the first time and all hatched but after two weeks only one was with mama and daddy. One baby disappeared in week one and then two more disappeared in week two. They don’t mind me coming around checking on them and feeding them but when my coworker tried, they acted like they were hurt and leading him away from the nest. I love them.

@@photographyadventuresbygraciel 💗 They really are amazing birds. Now every time I walk by they come up to me. They start singing their beautiful bird call and come right up to my feet. I love them. I put up more rocks around her nest because we have had more people drive around the building. They love the bugs I got. I mix them in with the bird seed. And thank you for making this video. Without you I wouldn’t have known how to help them. I really appreciate you!

Man ive been watching a couple pairs of these birds land at my job and raise their young right outside my shop door so i see them every year. I just learned that some are known to return to the same place every year to meet their mate and raise chicks. Crazy to think ive probably seen the same pairs for the last 10 years.

That’s awesome!! They are such amazing birds! I have never seen a baby killdeer to my knowledge I don’t think but I bet they are so cute!!
That’s amazing that they keep coming back to raise their young there. Just proves that they feel safe there.

oh...now I know why...I found a pile of speckled eggs right in the gravel down at local Barton Park...then saw a Killdeer bird,
so assumed it was being foolish by laying eggs where it did...I notified park ranger, glad I did...was tempted to move them because were right in middle of the road.

That’s crazy! I cannot believe it laid them in the road! It’s a good thing you did notify a park ranger! Thank you for watching!

We had one lay her speckled eggs in our gravel driveway. I spray painted an orange circle around the eggs so we wouldn't drive on them. They were there about two weeks. Then they disappeared. I think a possum got them. Great video

Had a pair of these birds hatch some babies in the gravel behind shop at work. Was happy to see 4 babies running around for a few days. Then came to work and noticed momma calling and calling for her babies. Obviously nature is brutal and it’s part of life but it was sad to see mom and dad just searching and calling for the babies for days.

Some one told me the very aggressive dive bombing in your face birds on the side of my property were killdeers and I believed her. Now after watching this vid, I know she's absolutely wrong! Geez! Goes to show u can't listen to just anyone lol.

Oh my goodness! Thankfully I can say that I have never had an aggressive Killdeer encounter in any way. They are actually one of the more peaceful birds to watch and photograph from a distance. However Bluebirds and Brown Thrashers are untrustworthy!
I had a Brown Thrasher dive right in front of me one time to grab a grasshopper to feed its young! They are fast and incredible birds!!
Thank you so much for watching!!

I had to do that one time and I use earth worms and crickets from a fish supply store and it depends on the age of the bird but if it has fuzz or small wings you probably need to feed him or her every 45 minutes until dark. I can’t recommend bird seed as their little bodies cannot digest it. You also don’t worry about giving the bird water as the live bait already consists of liquid. I am pretty sure it’s not supposed to have water. Any bug though will probably suit its fancy just make sure it’s in small portions so he/she can digest it.

If it too distressed, contact your local DNR wildlife rehab facilities as they are trained to deal with such measures.
I could not do this however because the bird I rehabbed fell out of the nest from the tall eave of the house and was in severe shape and minutes were on the line. His mom came back to get him two weeks later.
