    Very well done. I would offer a few tweaks. Every 2 or 3 years or so, you need to do a super-duper clean, i.e., you never know what kind of mold or bacteria is lurking; therefore, I would add a step in there that includes a diluted bleach solution. On mine, I took off all the housings for stages 1 - 4, put them in the sink, and scrubbed them with soapy hot water.
    I know they said don’t unhook the tubing to stage 4 membrane housing; however, disconnecting the tubing is really the only way to really clean that membrane housing (mine was a little funky inside). They probably just thought people would forget how it was all hooked up; so I took pics along the way.
    I used a pair of rubber-coated tongs and a wad of paper towels, since I didn’t have a good long scrubber and scrubbed the insides. Then I rinsed. Then I filled all 4 housings about 60 to 70% full with hot water and then filled them up the rest of the way with bleach; I mixed it up and let it sit there, upright, in the sink for 5 or 10 minutes. Note: you have to plug the holes for the stage 4 membrane filter housing for it to hold water (you can use the plugs that come with the new filters).
    I also used this as an opportunity to apply some bleach solution to the t-fitting of the new stage 5 carbon filter t-connector (the one that comes with a t-connector attached), as instructed. Then, after about 5 - 10 minutes of wet time, I rinsed everything really well (like rinsing for 10 good minutes, cumulatively, for all 4 housings).
    I also put the metal frame of the assembly, turned it upside down, and put it in the sink, and did a similar soap & water scrub, plus bleach decontamination with the top of the housing that the stage 1 through 2 housings screw onto.
    Note: this cleaning process was most necessary for the stage 1 filter as it will always be the dirtiest. But I like the idea of doing a thorough cleaning on everything every 2 to 3 years.
    Also of note: I think when they say don’t touch the 4th stage membrane, they are assuming our pliers are cleaner than our hands. I’m down with using some pliers to remove the membrane; however, I know where my pliers have been; therefore, I chose to put the new membrane in by grabbing it with a paper towel (instead of pliers, to avoid touching it with my hands or pliers, while still keeping it as sterile as possible.
    Note; every few years, I would say change the stages 1 - 3, O-rings (not sure if you can buy the stage 4 O-rings but it wouldn’t hurt if you can find them). But in between those 2 - 3 year intervals, if you are changing them every 6 to 12 months, probably just a fresh thin coat of plumbers grease (Vaseline) is sufficient, after cleaning them thoroughly.
    I do like to waste 3 tanks of water before using, albeit, the 3rd tank is likely overkill.
    By the way, I had the ROES-PH75 for 4 or 5 years. I upgraded, recently, to the "APEC Water Systems Ultimate RO-Hi Top Tier Supreme Certified High Output Fast Flow" and also purchased the "APEC Water Systems PHPLUSKIT-38" kit. Both purchases were just a few bucks more than the ROES-PH75. It gives you the exact configuration as the ROES-PH75 but it adds in the 3/8 tubing and connections which allows for a faster water flow out of the faucet. You should put some Amazon aff links to this upgrade in your description.
    My dream setup: eventually, I want to run the stock APEC 4 gallon tank and APEC's 20-gallon tanks in random (for crazy pressure and capacity), if I ever get a place with a convenient garage or basement location to put the 20-gallon tank. Actually, in a perfect world, I would put the filters assembly and the tanks in a garage or basement, just in case, there is ever a leak; and then I would just have feeder lines coming into 2 or 3 faucets in the house and the fridge.
    That’s my 2 cents:)
    Best!

One question: did anyone go through this, turn their system back on and notice that the water flow was a bit slow - and choppy? always run water thru the sed and the carbon before you run it thru the membrane, you can expel a lot of carbon fines that would end up in the membrane, and also put a bypass on the flow restrictor and clean your membrane ever 2 or 3 weeks, you will love the results

    • @NewParentsInTraining
      @NewParentsInTraining  4 года назад

      Thank you for watching! That is a great question. According to the user manual how long it will take to fill the tank will depend on the water pressure inside your house, it usually would take 2-3 hours. Hope this helps.

    • @NewParentsInTraining
      @NewParentsInTraining  4 года назад

      @@kakeilee on the previous reply, I was referring to 2-3 hours of refilling time. As far as to empty the tank, you can't really empty empty the tank. The water coming out would depends on the pressure inside the tank, when the pressure is low or none left then the water inside the tank will not get push out. Hence you will never be able to empty it. However, when the rate of water coming out of the tank is lowering, by refill back the tank, the new water goes in will push the sediment up top, then you cycle again for the second time. After that your water in the tank should be all new.

      Turning off the water first (common sense I didn’t have)
      Bucket is a must have!
      Changing the filters left to right will save you some pain.
      Preorder the rings! This is a must, the o rings should really come with the filters. Would have saved me a huge headache trying to figure out why there is a leak with the first filter change.

      No, just turn on the Apex drinking water valve and let the water out till the water comes out really slow. Turn it off, let the water build up in the tank, and run that agin. You are not going to get 100% of the water out of the tank in one go. That's why I do it twice.

      Thank you for watching! Yes, since you have already emptied out the tank, you do need to wait till the tank is filled again before the water come out normally. Don't use the water, wait for about 30 minutes or so before usage. By the way, if you just changed your filters, then you do need to cycle through the tank at least once before drinking the water.

    Great video! Could you please let me know where I can find the serial number on this item? I have the UV version and they have a different replacement depending on the serial number and I can't find it anywhere. Thanks!

    My 6th filter tube just popped out and drained the whole tank. I inserted the tube back into the 6th filter. After about a couple of hours it popped out again. How should I secure the tube so it won’t pop out again?

    Does anyone know what the TDS of this filter is supposed to read once you change it? I noticed it was 90-100 total dissolved solids. I know there is a final “remineralization” stage, but I didn’t think it would read that high.

    Is your water bill high? you can get the APEC premeate pump, cuts down the water being wasted, you can check to see how much water waste is for one gallon of water - warning, it can be upto 10 gallons of water dumping down your drain for one that gallon of purified drinking water.

      According to the APEC website, the waste to filtered water ratio is 2:1 or 3:1 depending on the system.
