  • One of San Luis Garbage's newer Peterbilt 520 Labries in the standardized Waste Connections blue color scheme collecting recycling on the Wednesday route here in San Luis Obispo. One of the things I like about the routes up here is the cart variety, which I've noticed is quite similar to what North Bay had set up (ottos, rehrigs, toters, cascades). This is also one of very few trucks that actually flips all the lids and can run the route at a pretty solid pace.
You may notice lots of glass bottle and beer can clanking - welp, that's a college town for ya.
Special thanks to the driver for making this video possible!

Now that is one sharp looking truck! It operates so smoothly and fairly quickly. Great work on this video, a cool change from the usual SoCal trucks!

Thank you! Appreciate the comment. It sure is something a little different from all the amreps we see so often.

I knew Waste Connections operated in Florida, but I didn't know they also operated in the rest of the US, including California.

I find the sound of glass breaking in the hopper so gratifying

my grandfather used to live near San Luis Obispo at one point. You should travel up to Arroyo Grande (where my grandfather actually lived at one point) to film the waste haulers up there if you get the chance

Noah Ater arroyo grande is serviced by the same yard as SLO, except they run primarily bridgeports down there

Love how they kept the names of all those companies on the trucks and to be honest, the blue is a nice change from the plain white trucks in my opinion. The whole CNG tank blending in with the hopper looks so strange haha can't say I'm a fan of that but these seem to be working out well as far as new trucks go. Smooth operation and I'm willing to be that they are a welcome change from Bridgeport lol. Any idea what they'll be getting for special ops equipment like RLs and maybe some carry cans? Cool video!

WMmaster626 thanks Aaron! Appreciate the comment. The blue is a much nicer touch after years of plain white trucks. I actually kinda dig that CNG tank set up, not necessarily a big ass box on top of the body and just more fluid. Not sure what they’re doing in terms of RLs, they seem to be still running all the older WXLLs pretty regularly! If anything Id expect Heils in the future. I hope they dont scrap those carry cans! Thanks for watching!

Nice video! The truck practically looks brand new and runs at a nice pace! How long have they had it? Last time I was in their area was 2017 and they were buying Rehrig, are they still with them or did they switch yet again?

zp12684 thanks! They got a batch of these in the spring of this year, so no more than 6 or 7 months old Id assume. They are currently giving out EGs and the newest M style Schaefer.

What a beautiful truck!!! Colors remind me of BFI. Is that company somehow related to former owners???

Thanks! Not entirely sure on the exact affiliation between the two companies.
