I’m looking into buying this car because the design of it is unique, the back seats with “no windows” are perfect to sleep/rest with less hurting light/ annoy unwanted company :D
I bought this C-HR 2021 and I love the smaller sportier suv look alot and the fact that it gets superb gas mileage and compliments everywhere I travel in it. Love it!💞🏆🌠💚
Iono, I really liked that back end of the car. I love my White Nightshade. For me it was just one of those "I need it" feelings. It's my first car so I have plenty of opportunities later on down the line for another car. But for now, I love mine. It's not a great car, but it's doing it's best. Just like me.
Only reason to get this is if you really need ride height for whatever reason, but you don't have the money for an actual SUV. You also don't need interior space and you don't mind a freaking slow car. I do like the looks but that's about it.
I bought it 2 weeks ago, and honestly I don’t have particular why I bought it but l like it cuz a cute sporty look and and the roof rack caught my eye make the car more exotic look. And love it now…
the c-hr is really popular here in europe, especially the hibrid model , mostly being the fact that it is compact and has good fuel economy , people out here want suvs but usually cant afford the price for a awd mid size suv , so the c-hr is a nice middle ground where you get what you need and a bit of what you like...
Diesel taxes are high and lez zones will start so benzin suv consumptions are too high cost for pocket so hybrid is the best to drive in the cities. I live in belgium and so much corolla and chr around me.
Yes, I bought this vehicle CHR 21 , I changed it , I was driving a Corolla IM 18 hatchback and I still love it. But, The CHR look sporty , out of the ordinary , unique, its like a small tank on the road , it's depend what is your need , is a hatchback SUV , I think this is not a family car , for me is practical.
As some other CH-R owners have stated, it's practical, stylish, unique with lots of safety features. I love my limited CH-R. Great lil car for commuting and city driving and parking. Especially for Chicago since there's never street parking anymore.
As a 2020 CH-R owner, the seats are very comfortable compared to a lot of other vehicles I have spent time in! Apart from the ride height (which is a plus for me lol), the sell for me was the price with all the standard features and the holistic design of the vehicle with a few exceptions and compromises.
Good review to some extent and an owner of a chr xle. Hands down the reason and a very justifiable one is road height. Corolla feels like the Flintstones. Way too low. I could careless about speed as Iam a city driver and also on hiway it has adequate pickup. Most importantly that you missed is price. I did cost comparisons and quite frankly my deal was better on a xle chr vs an SE Corolla simply because chr is a slower mover with more incentives. Corolla is a volume mover with no incentive and higher interest rate. To me it was better value, the road handling is just as good if not better. Lastly build quality built in gold awarded plant in Turkey. So to each is own in their needs. Chr is better value which you did not mention. Cubic interior ft is larger in a CHR
Love my 2021 Limited my main gripes are with the infotainment system, its dog slow and the tiny gas tank, barely over 10 gallons and only 300 miles city range. You cant really complain about the limited space if you are seriously looking into this as its just a given, you could look at a Kona or Crosstrek or even a HRV but its the styling that sets this model apart. The rest of those models may be "nicer" in some areas but its the uniqueness that sets this one apart.
The Corolla hatch is not as sporty looking and not as attractive in design. I like that this car looks way different than anything else in the Toyota line up. The Corolla to me looks and feels a lot cheaper than this. My C-HR was built in Japan you can tell that it’s a well-made vehicle. You can definitely tell this car was a scion concept it’s totally designed around the drivers experience not so much for the passengers. Corolla would be better if you intend on having many passengers daily.
2021 CH-R and 2021 Corolla hatchback/sedan do not share the same engine. Yes they both have 2 liter engines but the CH_R has a port injected low compression engine that gives out 144 HP and 139 ft lbs of torque. 2021 Corolla has a dual injected high compression engine that gives out 169 HP and 151 ft lbs of torque. Corolla also has the CVT with the launch gear which gives it great off the line acceleration. CH-R's CVT has no launch gear. Thus, the Corolla SE/XSE is significantly faster and more fun to drive than the CH-R. Especially because the Corolla weighs 300 pounds less too.
I just bought this exact vehicle. In fact this may be the exact car I bought through Carvana. It has the roof rack and mudflaps and it came from up north. I live in South Florida and have no need for AWD. I love the fact that it has a back seat just in case I'm transporting a crew. But I don't need a RAV4's room since 95% of the time I'm by myself or with one other person. The CVT is not ideal for performance driving but I got enough tickets in my 20's to last me a lifetime. I bought mine with 1,800 miles and plan on having it for 40 years. Yota life!
More so practicality. I used to have a 17’ Yaris iA before it got totaled. Definitely don’t mind how slow the CH-R with the 144hp. Nice middle ground SUV. Picking up a limited CH-R tomorrow
I bought a 2021 CH-R so I can be an SUV owner. Everyone around me owns SUVS. I feel like if I want to be one of the cool kids, I need to own an SUV. I can't afford a brand new RAV4 so bought CH-R instead. SUV craze is just too much here in the US.
I love this car. I don't really care how it looks from the back seat because i am usually the only one inside 😂 Everything you don't like, i love. Plus, i added heated seats and remote start so it feels my needs. And the fact that almost nobody around here driving all black nightshade C-HR makes it even better for me.
Just got my 2022 C-HR nightshade and I love it. Of course the look is amazing. Besides, I don't have kids and barely need the backseat. Small backseats are perfect for me. I don't like big car but love the height of SUV. The small backseat let me can give my friends a ride when it's needed.
The positive side of the small rear tinted windows is that the baby sleep like a baby in this car. It worths trying for the families that have one or two small kids. Furthermore, I think the C-HR have a amazing driving quality, direct, smooth and comfortable.
I really prefer its looks to the corolla. My wife has a 2021 corolla se and it’s a great car, but I like this one better. I like its ground clearance for bad weather. We don’t get a lot of snow, but we get a bit. We also get rain and the C-HR handles it quite well. The corolla stays parked.
AWD gives people a false sense of confidence while driving. Proper snow tires are a far better option. As an auto tech for many years I can vouch for that.
My wife n I r looking at the ch-r. Although, yes, looks are subjective, we're looking for ride-height, an SUV/cross-over that's not too big, and we think the chr looks cool (in our opinion it looks much cooler than the Corolla hatch. But I'll grant you, the Corolla hb is more efficient with storage space). The chr already looks kind of like a concept car, which is nice to see a car manufacturer taking some risks with their design. Anyways... thank you for the time and effort of your video. It was/is helpful.
Moving from and 2018 HRV to the 2021 CHR - mainly the dealership I worked with was god aweful and wouldn’t fix the broken car they leased me. I need a much needed break from honda. I am excited to see what the Toyota world has to offer. Anyways the HRV is a great car if it works properly, never had an issue with the car itself. Honestly I just needed to get out of the dealership I was at, and the Toyota was right across the street.
I am a young 64 y.o. senior......I’m in a VW Tiguan- can walk😁, but have arthritis in my right knee. This has good ground clearance, but so does SUBARU 🙃.
I am now looking to buy a Toyota. Between corolla and chr is the sitting height. I find that the corolla is to low, I'm tall so.... But I have to go and give them both a try
a bit late on this but i have owned my 2018 C-HR Limited for about a year now and a few things have stuck with me to answer your question. 1) Why the C-HR over a Corolla. well, anyone who is buying this type of car is just as quirky as the car itself. Im tired of the same old economy box sedans with no inspiration or appeal whatsoever to look at. For me that was a huge selling point of the C-HR just by itself. It looks amazing to me and turns heads on the road. Its unique, sporty and agile looking. A corolla just doesnt have any of that. 2) The transmission and engine pairing Having driven this car for over a year now i can safely say that anyone who says this car is slow as a tortoise or doesnt have enough power is either surrounded by idiot drivers, or isnt a safe, defensive driver themselves. I have never once been in a situation where i was wishing for more power or a faster acceleration. If you drive a lower power car you'll find this car no different than the one youre in right now. Smooth acceleration and handling is what this car is about. Its not a rocketship, so dont treat it like one. And if you want a bit more gusto just swap it into sport mode. It turns on a simulated gear change system thatll pause the CVT as its adjusting to make it feel like its shifting gears while also adding a lot more responsiveness and power under your foot from the beginning without the windup. I almost always drive in the eco mode so when i swap to sport its like a slap in the face what the car changes into. 3) AWD Argument As someone who lives in the south the need for AWD is so rare and comical that its not worth the worse fuel economy. If you drive in an environment where that kind of thing is common then this is not the car for you anyways. A simple, light, and easier to setup FWD is the way to go for a cheaper, more affordable but still dependable car. Plus you dont have to worry about a dive shaft down the middle of the car which helps free up a bit of space on the interior of the car. If they made an AWD version the interior of this car would probably be even more cramped than it already is. 4) rear windows, blindspots, and back seats this is another selling point for me that i took advantage of. Im a younger driver, single, with no plans for large trips or families in sight. The rear seats being enclosed is a non issue for me and many others in the same boat as me. More often than not im the only person in my car so i dont have to worry about the view from the back. Storage is also perfectly fine even when going to the beach for a full week with a board, clothes, suitcase, towels, and other assorted items, they all fit in the back without even having to fold the seats down. Blindspots are also negligible if you make use of the blind spot monitor system which will illuminate if a car is in it or close enough to your rear that you shouldnt consider merging. If you angle your mirrors right the blind spots on this car wont hamper you at all. The rear window is also deceptively large since its at an angle. Unless you drive a glass box for a car with a little bit of adjustment and cautious driving you wont have an issue with either. well thats my rant done xD Hopefully this helps any of you still on the fence about one of these types of cars. Several things have changed in newer models so keep that in mind when reading all this! And as always, take a test drive, do your research and find multiple opinions before making your final decision. Safe travels!
im intrested in owning a chr, because i thinks its small enough to go through a city like l.a and plus i think there is more space for my filmmaking equipment and to put the seats down is perfect for storage space plus ill tint put the rear and back windows .i tjink it looks cool and wpuld be very reliable
I have a Yaris and am def looking for something for a more level ride height. In addition, i think the CHR's look is very sleek and sexy, something you don't see in crossovers no a days. I also still like hatchbacks.

I'm considering trading in my 2017 Prius 3 (or 4, don't know which) for one of these. Is that a bad idea? Feels like trading down in quality. I just want the safety features and height.
