I own a 2018 model CH-R and I never look behind in that direction when you have the side mirror which are carefully designed by Toyota to give a wider angle view than any other car. I also own a Honda Fit and Mercedes and the Toyota side mirrors are by far the best of the lot. Once you position the side mirrors to the right angle you will start to find them very useful.

I own a driving school in the Netherlands and I use this vehicle for teaching people how to drive a manual car. The blindspots are an problem and makes it more difficult to see compared to a Corolla or Yaris. I teach my students to look earlier than normally done in other vehicles. They have to look better to prevent unnecessary collision or damage. The BSM and RCTA is a really good feature on this car and maybe also a option to consider. I have driven many different Toyota models the last year and spend many km’s and hours in it. I still think the CHR is the best one I ever had! Looking forward to the Corolla Cross

If they move their chair back it can completely block the whole window on that side when I’m trying to check to switch lanes. I have the 2020 version w no blind spot monitoring system and unfortunately Toyota said they can’t add it. I did purchase some BSM mirrors to attach on the outer corners of the side mirrors and they’ve definitely helped a lot though.

The blindspot monitoring system is not something I’d rely on. I don’t think they provide enough warning … unless the distance they detect a vehicle can be adjusted. Granted, I agree about mirrors. They need to be adjusted depending on the type of roads you’re driving on. Highway vs. city driving. One of my biggest disappointments is that Toyota never offered factory installed highway mirrors or the convex mirrors that some other manufacturers have provided on their vehicles. Although I did see a few Toyotas that had them. I guess they’re the ones that didn’t have Blindspot monitoring in some cases. Every Toyota that I’ve owned I’ve added my own convex mirror. Doesn’t look the best, but they do the job.

I installed an Arduino with a CANBUS hat, programmed it and tied it to the main computer and installed a single pole double throw switch. Now I do NOT have to fark with the menu again. Stays in Sport mode even after the car is off. :) Thanks to the C-HR forum for the link and instructions.

I have the CHR 2019 LE, and I don’t have much problems on blind spots, even with my ceramic tints being 35 Front, 20 Back (Subcompact SUV. Legal.). To eliminate blind spots, I’m a tall guy, so I push my seat back to the max, adjust my rear view mirror to match my back window and push the side mirrors to the point where I don’t see side of my car. I’m one to indicate while changing lanes and keeping my head on a swivel. Other than that, it’s a great ride to cruise in. Also, I barely use the rear view camera.

I bought my chr brand new in 2019. As soon as i pulled onto the lot and saw it i was in love!! Its the perfect size bc its just me, it can fit into tighter places than my past cars. Im 6ft tall and its still comfortable to me. I was kind of shocked when i sat in it bc i thought id feel squished. I wish it came in a manual and had a little more power but i still love it!! My main complaint is i think mine came with an invisibility setting that i cant turn off bc even though mine is the crazy bright blue flame color, i have more people pull out in front of me or cut me off than any vehicle i have ever owned. It just puzzles me how the bright blue is missed by some people lol So far its one of my favorite cars ive ever owned ❤️ id just like to add that i dont have any issues with blindspots. My husband and says its too girly so im the only one who drives it so my mirrors and seat stay the same so blindspots arent a problem for me.

As a CHR owner, I can 100% tell you I have no problem with blind spots in this vehicle as long as you can turn your head and look over your shoulder, moreover, the higher specs comes with blind spot assist via the side mirrors. I have seen some videos on RUclips saying CHR has no power, doing test drives on this beautiful car like a 90 years old, bring it on to me and I'll show you the full potential on how this beautiful car should be driven, I've had an Audi, BMW, Mercedes all gave up on me on the motorway, sport mode on this thing is just awesome, but I wish Toyota can blow the CHR up with a little bit of height in the future to make it really look like an SUV.😉

Even the quickest chr 0-60 is 10.5 seconds, horribly slow by todays standards. I’m sure this lemon will be dropped in the next year or so - it just serves no purpose, is difficult to see out of, isn’t practical and is just dull to drive.

I enjoyed your video. I’m a new subscriber. I bought a 2020 CH-R Limited in September 2020. I love it! I wish it had remote start though. Blind spot takes some getting used to, but you just have to be aware and make sure you look around. I hope in the future that Toyota will add. Ore features to this car because I think I would purchase one again. Like I said, add remote start, maybe a sunroof, and have the passenger seat powered as well. Thanks for the video!

I think ChR is evolving as a vehicle. And that there is still much more to come from it. For example, AWD, Hybrid etc.

So the base LE doesn't come with blind spot monitoring, nor can you add it on later? With passengers in the back and front seats it could be very hard to change lanes on a fast highway safely I'd imagine, especially at night.

Too bad that we will never see the 2024 C-HR - push-button door handles. More HP, moon-roof, RBG interior ambient lights, plug-in electric hybrid available. Not to mention the C-HR LED rear lighting. Larger media center panel. And --- All LCD driver's console.

I've been having a 2018 for almost a year now. My major blindspot struggle is that area on the driver side of the windshield and that side mirror. I'm 5'0 and in my mustang it wasnt terrible. In the CHR it's just bigger and harder to see when I'm making a left turn. I'm always trying to poke my head around to make sure I'm not hitting anything.
