Very informative, as much as I love Big Sur I don’t think I’ll have it as my first marathon.

Cathleen, thank you for your comment! I definitely recommend an easier one to start with. I heard NYC and Chicago are good ones.

This is a very misleading title and takes too long to get to the point.
You also had mother nature be windy that day. That can happen anywhere.
As a fellow runner, I hope your videos improve and are more straightforward.

I'm not gonna be as mean as some of the commenters, but I think their sentiments are kinda warranted.
    - Dislike the clickbaity title. ("Don't run BSIM as your 1st Marathon here's why" would have been perfect)
    - Maybe it's because your first marathon, but it's a little odd that you were surprised by the hilliness? The website does show the course and elevation profile. But I say that as someone who looks at these things even in my daily runs, so I know what 2800 ft of gain feels like over 26 miles. I don't know if that makes it the hilliest road marathon out there, but it's certainly one of the harder ones - harder than SF, which people complain about.
    - I ran BSIM in '24 for the first time, and I heard about '23 being especially windy. But again, seeing as this is your first marathon - most races have that weather variable that can't fully be predictable - and it matters more over a 3-6 hour effort.

Yes by all means don't pursue difficult levels of sports ..do the easiest ! Then you don't take up motel- airlines- school bus and BS entree spaces.. Leave space for serious athletes not U tube Posers
