Your painted dog ornaments are beautiful, you are extremely talented .
My story I made baby clothing for family and friends others wanted me to make some for them. My father kept pushing me to go to the stores and show them what I could do. He believed people were taking advantage as I was only charging for materials. A girlfriend sold at the market so I thought I’ll try a stall that would get Dad of my back 😂 so I made a heap of different designs. As I was setting up a woman came up and asked me who was the designer 😮 I told her I was, she bought the lot on the spot for full price, not only that she asked me to supply her 5 baby stores she owned and would take as much as I could make and any other designs she wanted to see them first 🤯 And of cause my father was I told you so. I have just retired after 35 years of manufacturing children’s clothing, all because I went to the markets to keep my Dad quiet. You never know who’s watching

You are such an astute business person. Our company sold at a professional trade show every year (Toy Fair NYC). Your advice is equally spot-on for a multi-million dollar company or a sole proprietor crafter. I hope you hand each customer a card inviting them to join our Elysia English You Tube family.

However…I stumbled onto this one and watched every bit and here I am leaving a comment. Great content. Great presentation. Thanks so much!

Great advice. I did invest in nice bags to pack purchases in. More and more though I find people bring their own. I stamp or use stickers with my info on them and have business cards too. It’s surprising how many people contacted me for items after the shows. It would be a great way to promote your channel too! Good luck this year.

You’re the best! I’ve been a long time follower of yours and you’re such an inspiration.
I’m doing my first farmer’s market sale up in cottage country (northern Ontario) at the end of the summer. I’ve never put my art up for sale. I used your tips and created things that are affordable, keeping with the theme of the area. And I made a display that I can hang ornaments from to add some visual appeal too.

thank you for being so SANE! When I did craft shows long ago, my partner daughter me ....$20 is tops. But remember everyone needs presents for teachers, neighbors, stocking stuffers, just something very nice that is OBVIOUSLY hand made and not from overseas. Also your tables always look lovely but not so FULL of stuff that no one can see anything! Also, think, just because something is easy or cheap to make ... is it something that YOU would be "I have to purchase this." The "I can make that", no make your own thing and think about something you would BUY!

One other advantage of your small items is that they are light and durable enough to ship. Often I'm shopping for gifts at craft fairs, and usually I'll be shipping the gifts, so I don't want anything heavy, awkward, or delicate. Your items might be staying local, but at least people can ship your ornaments if they want to. Hope your shows are a big success!

Thanks for sharing your advice. I feel encouraged now to sign up to my second craft show. I did the first one in Dec 2019 and came away so disappointed. I just made enough sales to cover the cost of the table. I‘m sure that my pricing was not the issue but the location of my table. It was placed in a corner with 2 steps up, so a lot of people simply passed by and didn‘t bother looking. Also, the lighting was not good - the show took place in a former night club, and my corner booth was slightly dark. So my advice is - bring a couple of LED table lamps and possibly an extension cord, just to be on the safe side when the organiser has allocated you a darkish corner.
Lastly a question to you: Do you display the prices of the items clearly visible on your booth or do you want people to ask you for the prices?

This is such an insightful video, so much good info here!! I haven’t done any craft shows but since Christmas of last year I’ve started making crochet Granny Square pillows and selling them through Instagram, and in the last couple of weeks I’ve started making crochet Christmas ornaments to start gearing up for the holiday season. It’s so intimidating trying to price items, and to guess what people will be interested in buying! It’s a lot of work to put into something that’s going to sit on a shelf! Really hoping I can grow my business a little bit with the addition of the Christmas ornaments this year, does anyone have experience with selling items primarily online but to a local market?

Got my Cricut mainly to make easy stencils & paint wood signs but have yet to make even one from lacking wood cuz I’m either lacking the funds to buy or don’t know what to buy that’s most affordable & still quality. If you think about it. You are evolving things that do well. The theme things like going coastal and the pinecone penguins that sell may be going to the same families, kind of like how hallmark has a series of ornaments. For example I collect Winnie the Pooh ornaments and a new one comes out each year. You are making a collection for families.

I love craft/ vendor shows. Here in Pennsylvania there are so many where I live that it's so fun to see all of the different types of vendors there may be. I personally love anything nativity ( I am currently making my own based on a pattern book) but anything made of wood and especially hand painted is a sure sale for me! My grandfather always made those type of things for everyone so I have such a respect for the people that do it and they remind me of him back when he was still able to To make stuff.

You have been such an inspiration to me. Our school does a craft show around March. What spring things would you suggest I make. I love to craft and upcycle. I have way too many supplies. Lol. I was thinking of rabbit and egg cut out pillows. The cost is $30 and it runs for like 6 hrs on a Saturday.
I drive a school bus and make a personalized ornament every year for the students on my bus. I do like to upcycle and make them as cheap as possible. I have been collecting pine cones so I can do the penguins next year and put their names on the scarf.

Awesome. I’d love some tutorials on some of those ornaments! After watching this I jumped over to your channel looking for the tutorials for those puffins, but not there 😭. I’d love to see how you put any of those together.

Just a short story. I was at a craft show and sale, before the doors opened the vendors walked around looking at the tables. One of the other vendors bought 1 each of3 different ornaments I made. The next show I went to (2 weeks later) she was there, selling copies of my ornaments. I know they were mine as I made the pattern (my original idea). The next year the same thing happened, different items. I do not mind sharing, but this really upset me, so much so that I quit going to those 2 shows.
