- Craft Fair Tips and Tricks for a Successful Craft Fair 2023. I have been doing craft shows for many years. I am sharing some of my tips and tricks that I have learned along the way that I hope will help you have a successful craft fair. These are craft fair methods that I have used over and over that have worked. if you want to start a handmade business, craft shows are a great start. Great tips for newbies. I love your booth. When i started, I bought 3 of the little 2 pocket aprons from Walmart that cost less than $6 total. I layered and stitched them together, leaving all six pockets accessible. I fill four separate pockets with 1's, 5's, 10's, & 20's. I put a notepad, calculator & pen in the 5th and my phone in the 6th. I end up with 3 separate ties that i tie in the back for extra security.I've since sewn a few for fellow crafters who've found them easy to use. I carry what I call my go bag that has things you may need for repairs, clean up or whatever, like scissors, zip ties, baby wipes, jewelry tools & extra jewelry findings, extra business cards, extra ribbon, paper towels, a small medical kit and a lot of other little things I may need. For those starting out and/or flying solo like me, if it's going to be a long day, pack a lunch, snacks and drinks because food at events if available can eat into your profit. Also you should have a trash bag or container, for not just tour trash or others looking to discard cups and such. Just a few thoughts to add to what you've given.

I would love to see that apron, sound awesome. You really load up for the craft fair. I do take things to make repairs, paper towels and trash bags too. Under my tables are full LOL. I will pin your comment to the top so that others can read it. Thanks for sharing.
@PattiJGood I'll get a pic of it once I find it. I relocated my craft space from a small & very cramped bedroom in my house to the large bonus room upstairs with the help of my son & his friend last weekend. I'm glad I had the help, but bless it. They dumped jewelry stuff in with sewing and my vinyl stuff in with my small woodworking projects, and my candle stuff is mixed in somewhere. Since I have a craft event coming up in a few weeks, I've got to focus on getting it all sorted out so I can get back to creating. Cross your fingers that my Go bag is intact because that's where my little apron is. 🤣🤣🤣

Just another thought - if you have a helper (spouse, child, friend) in your booth (always good for the food run and bathroom visits), it's good to make sure you brief them on what you've got and how you make it because people will always want to know and they always appreciate the information which gives them the confidence to buy.

Thank you so much Linda, you so sweet. I do not have a tent for outdoor fairs. I only do the indoor ones. I had a bad experience at an outdoor event where my tent blew down because of a storm.
Also been selling for years. We sell homemade pies etc… thanks for doing learned a couple of things myself!

Wholly cow Patti - what don't you do?! You must have the energy of 10 women! Your craft booth looks FABU and all the extras that you do definitely adds a lot of WOW factor. Great tips, even for crafters who don't sell their items but give as gifts, to add extra bling to packaging.

Great tips, thank you. I have an extra small fold up table in the back of my big table to use as a utility table. I also have a covered shelf in the middle of my big table that I hide my cash box and other stuff under the shelf. I don't do outside shows, but if I do, my husband can watch my table. Inside, the vendors are back to back, so our stuff is safe, and we get tables and chairs, too. And again, I hide my box. But again, great tips are worth exploring some of them.
That's a great idea to hide you cash box under a shelf. If I set at my table I could do that. I only do inside shows also. I worry about the weather.

An while I was watching yr video, you mentioned use what I already own That inspired me to come up with an idea of

OMG Patti this is by far the best booth I’ve ever seen. You are absolutely 💯 amazing. I appreciate all your efforts you put in your products. I’ve learned so so very much these past two years from you. I’m especially grateful when you allow us to make and sell some of your products. Somehow they are never as gorgeous as yours, but I do enjoy making them. Again thank you for allowing us to make and or just give as gifts. I’m on disability and I’m in the donut hole with my medication, so if I make and sell items here and there the money goes to meds. Your booth with your daughter is absolutely gorgeous. Don't let is overwhelm you. Just start with what you have and build on it. I started my first show with a table and a blanket to cover it. Just smile and talk to everyone that passes by and you will do great.
