Because California Disneyland's Critter Country settings are themed to Louisiana Bayou as a transition from New Orleans Square so Princess Tiana ride fits the theming and Tokyo's Critter Country is themed to Western village of Texas/Arizona/New Mexico and Mexico as well like Frontierland.
I agree, Tiana's ride being in Frontierland doesn't make much sense at first glance, but neither does Splash Mountain. Both rides take place in the deep south but are in an area themed around the American west. They'll make Tiana's ride work just like they did with Splash Mountain I'm sure.

Tokyo Disneyland's Splash Mountain is also located in Critter Country but Tokyo's Critter Country's settings resembles old American Southwest/Texas/New Mexico instead of Louisiana/New Orleans bayou like in California Disneyland.

I’ve never ridden Splash Mountain. It’s a shame this will be the remaining one left on this world however I think there have been discussions of TDR re-theming this ride but there are no actual plans in place as I think the only reason they wouldn’t want to re-theme their version of Splash Mountain is because they would have to re-do the whole of Critter Country as the theming of their version is based on the ride and their version of Critter Country is also smaller than the one in California
Seriously. I'm usually a pretty liberal person but Splash Mountain isn't racist and basically no one wanted them to close it down. No one that is, except Black Rock.
The reason Tokyo Disneyland’s Splash Mountain didnt close because Disney does not have the rights to change any rides at Tokyo Disney Resort And since of that, im going to Tokyo Disneyland one day and ill finally know how it feels to ride it and i have never been on Splash Mountain once
Yes. Also, in Tokyo some of the vocals are in Japanese and made by Japanese artists and sounds like Japanese anime OSTs like Naruto, Digimon Adventure etc.
splash moutnain can stay in tokyo disneyland and disneyworld but in disneyland splash mountain retheme works in disneyland for the princess and the frog but leave it in wdw and tdl!
Yes in LA's Disneyland the retheme may work because Critter Country is themed after Louisiana/New Orleans Bayou as it is made as a perfect blend with the New Orleans Square whereas in WDW Splash is in Frontierland, the land of the cowboys and Tokyo Disneyland's Critter Country is themed like Frontierland with Texas/New Mexico style settings and is a continuation and sub-land of the park's Westernland.
Can we talk about the sightlines in the outdoor portions? They look so much better than they do in the other parks. You get a good view of big thunder and the rivers of america. I always kinda disliked how you could see the castle and space mountain in Florida. Also, the transitions from outdoor to indoor portions have tunnels to minimize the amount of sunlight entering. Neat little touches that just show how superior this version is.
@@FreeSpiritPaulette I do like the castle view, I just found that it interfered with the frontierland sightlines. The sightlines in Tokyo are much more consistent. I really don't like seeing space mountain from splash mountain though. This is just based on a few povs I've seen of Florida. I've only been on California's and Tokyo's.
Chickapin Hill was missing in USA (both Walt Disney World and Disneyland). Has it been used before? And when will the Princess and the Frog be rethemed when both in USA got 'em done? I'd think of a new name like Frog Mountain or something instead of Splash.
If Splash Mountain is to be renewed, Tiana is not well known in Japan, so I do not think it will be changed as in Florida or Anaheim. If it were to be changed, it would probably be renewed for a popular film in Japan, like "Zootopia" for example.
I guess I'm biased because I grew up with the splash in disneyland, I just love everything about the one that was in Disneyland. The music, the animatronics, the show scenes. They all just looked so much better at least to me compared to this one and Disney World. The tokyo one is definitely more based around the one in WDW than Disneyland, which isnt a bad thing but it definitely wasnt my favorite version, and neither is this one. It always seems to me that the original versions of rides are always the best, and splash is no exception, i think the one in Disneyland was absolutely perfect. But im still glad that Splash Mountain will still live on in some capacity on this Earth. Annoying this one hardly has any english so cant understand it, but at least its something. Still mourning the loss of the one over here in California that closed last night🥺
I think the Disneyland one was really nostalgic. It was version of the ride to start with having a message say "Have a zip-a-dee-doo-dah day" as the log went up the first lift hill. Little details like that are special

Still, this is amazing and I'm so glad i can still go on the ride either way
I'm confused about this ride. Like, Song of the South NEVER got released in Japan, and I highly doubt japanese people are familiar with the stories of Br'er Rabbit. So... Why so they have a Splash Mountain?
I never watched Song of the South neither have many of the people I know that loved Splash Mountain growing up. It's just in Disney theme park culture.
As a matter of fact, it did, it had a VHS release in Japan similar to the UK, Germany and other European countries, the movie itself is also public domain over there under Japanese copyright law. Also, most people were introduced to the Br’er characters through splash, you don’t have to watch the movie to understand what’s going on.
This looks so cool! I'd never go to an American Disney park again in my lifetime, but I think before I die I have to go to Japan's Disneyland, this is legit! I won't understand what they're saying lol, but it will still be cool. I'm 1/4 Japanese, and 3/4 Scandinavian, they most definitely will not like me there haha....they don't even like American Japanese people, let alone partial Japanese like myself. Oh well, it is what it is I never identified with that part of me my entire life, so can't fault the real people to accept me as one of them haha.
That's because it gets really cold in tokyo. We had to dress up in thick clothing for late spring. Imagine being soaked on a really cold day that also happens to be humid
Bro, the ride is scheduled for a refurb that will take place on november 2023 before opening again on december 2023. It's not going to be rethemed. Period.
They love it? The Japanese don't have white guilt, about something they didn't participate in. (Not that anyone now has suffered from it.) Not to mention that by removing any references to song of the south, you are removing the fact that the main actor, was the first black man to win an oscar, and they are erasing his achievement. That's what is truly racist.
They are probably happy the ride is here to stay. There are a lot of surveys conducted throughout the park. People LOVE Splash Mountain in Japan. And that's saying something since Tokyo is VERY VERY cold
I was there last summer! It had the longest line in the park-it literally went outside the queue and wrapped around Frontierland. It was just an average Thursday. The cool thing about TDL is that every e-ticket ride has its major, diehard fans that dress up, bring plushies, and go all out, and Splash definitely had many. I have no doubt that most guests think it is original IP and do not know about its origins.

Splash mountain was my favourite as a kid and I’ll literally go to Tokyo instead of California if they keep it
This is why we need a time machine
When the Japanese understand Walt disneys legacy more than the current clowns in charge in the US
Seriously. I'm usually a pretty liberal person but Splash Mountain isn't racist and basically no one wanted them to close it down. No one that is, except Black Rock.
OLC better be looking at the comments on the POV video for WDW and thinking theyre keeping their splash mountain
The reason Tokyo Disneyland’s Splash Mountain didnt close because Disney does not have the rights to change any rides at Tokyo Disney Resort
And since of that, im going to Tokyo Disneyland one day and ill finally know how it feels to ride it and i have never been on Splash Mountain once
Love that laughing place is in English
See u soon Japan just for Splash Mountain
Who cares about Princess and the Frog ride, just keep splash mountain
Yes indeed
Well said.
Man I hope that ride is the best thing to ever come out of Walt Disney imagineering to justified getting rid of my favorite ride
I know it’s such a great ride
Yes. Also, in Tokyo some of the vocals are in Japanese and made by Japanese artists and sounds like Japanese anime OSTs like Naruto, Digimon Adventure etc.
At 2:19: pretty close to the edge, no?
Like the projection at 3:33
splash moutnain can stay in tokyo disneyland and disneyworld but in disneyland splash mountain retheme works in disneyland for the princess and the frog but leave it in wdw and tdl!
I agree they should retirement in Disneyland but not Disney World
In my opinion the Disneyland Splash Mountain should get a major overhaul instead of a retheme
Actually in the concept I think I seen the California log
Yeah it makes sense for the retheme to be in Disneyland.
Anyone know why "Laughing Place" is the only song totally in English? The others seem to be either all Japanese or a mix of both.
I think it's because the lyrics of the Japanese version have a low quality as a song and don't fit the attraction's worldview.
@@bonkurateiou I can see that making sense. The song is pretty repetitive already in English.
Probably just very hard to translate
Can we talk about the sightlines in the outdoor portions? They look so much better than they do in the other parks. You get a good view of big thunder and the rivers of america. I always kinda disliked how you could see the castle and space mountain in Florida. Also, the transitions from outdoor to indoor portions have tunnels to minimize the amount of sunlight entering. Neat little touches that just show how superior this version is.
Why didn’t you like the castle sights in Florida? I loved them!
Very great observations!..and they have a tree perfectly placed, so you can't see the castle!
This will be the last splash mountain after florida and California 😢
The only reason why tokyo disneyland is number 1
The last one left. 🥰
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I might learn Japanese just to ride this again
Chickapin Hill was missing in USA (both Walt Disney World and Disneyland). Has it been used before? And when will the Princess and the Frog be rethemed when both in USA got 'em done? I'd think of a new name like Frog Mountain or something instead of Splash.
“Chickapin Hill was missing in USA” what is that supposed to mean?
@@katef96 I think he meant the music that would play during the lifthill right before the drop. This is the only splash mountain that uses it
I’m going to tokoyo eventually
Don’t remove that ride in Tokyo
Damn I need to go to Tokyo Disney they actually keep their rides maintained I didn't see anything not working
If Splash Mountain is to be renewed, Tiana is not well known in Japan, so I do not think it will be changed as in Florida or Anaheim.
If it were to be changed, it would probably be renewed for a popular film in Japan, like "Zootopia" for example.
Disney world, Disneyland: 👁️👄👁️
I watched that attraction from full house on tbs when i was a kid
American offer the idea make 0-1. And Japanese make it better 1-10
What's your favorite Splash Mountain ride?
I know, I totally miss the scene with the mama rabbit and her kids... it was my fave. :(
Well yeah of course the dialogue is Japanese it's in Tokyo whadya expect? 😂
@Anne_likes_flowers yeah of course I know that, it's just a bummer that the only version that is still going isn't in English
Yea that's true!
I think the Disneyland one was really nostalgic. It was version of the ride to start with having a message say "Have a zip-a-dee-doo-dah day" as the log went up the first lift hill. Little details like that are special
Can someone hook me up with the Japanese lyrics to “How do you do?” I’m trying to learn.

The only bad thing (but then again, what do you expect?😅😂) is the audio is in Japanese. I've never been on splash mountain, but i grew up on song of the south (I'm from London, UK) so getting to the ones in america before they closed was pretty much impossible at last minute. Still, this is amazing and I'm so glad i can still go on the ride either way
i love tiana but this is just the better ride on all fronts
This possibly might be the last splash mountain after Florida/California...
Fantastic :D
2:22 lol
i hope Tokyo dosnt give in to the race card and keeps this ride as is
I'm confused about this ride.
I went to the same one it was fun I wanna try the tianas
Something tells me tokyo DL is gonna get alot more american visitors
6:50 FSU!
Is splash mountain in Tokyo the same as WDW but reversed?
Yes
The Disneyland refurbishment looks exactly like this
More reason to go to japan
This looks so cool! I'd never go to an American Disney park again in my lifetime, but I think before I die I have to go to Japan's Disneyland, this is legit! I won't understand what they're saying lol, but it will still be cool. I'm 1/4 Japanese, and 3/4 Scandinavian, they most definitely will not like me there haha....they don't even like American Japanese people, let alone partial Japanese like myself. Oh well, it is what it is I never identified with that part of me my entire life, so can't fault the real people to accept me as one of them haha.
Ye
ah yes man we can do it with u

The million dollar bunny works in tokyo!
TBa.....IS just not even a fraction of this
YOUR GONNA GET WET!!!!!!!!!!!
Glad OLC are smart and would NEVER change it to Tianas Flop Adventure
I KNow!! I am so VERY happy!!! They flat=out refuse!!!!! YAY!!!!
Too bad it’s Mudfish Mountain now in the US
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I see this version lacks the exciting “full submersion” section that the US version has.
That's because it gets really cold in tokyo. We had to dress up in thick clothing for late spring. Imagine being soaked on a really cold day that also happens to be humid
They actually add more water soaking, in the warmer months with techno!! how FUN!!!
It’s closing September 6, 2023! I searched it up on google. It’s true
fake
No it ain't.
Bro, the ride is scheduled for a refurb that will take place on november 2023 before opening again on december 2023. It's not going to be rethemed. Period.
Clicks tongue on June 4 2024
Yeah, but.... how do the Japanese people feel about this?
