Always found these completely stunning. I remember seeing a 430 for the first time in the mid-90s at a car auction in Bordentown, NJ. That interior was mind blowing, so much that I recall it like it was yesterday! The mid-80s through the mid-90s was such a special time for cars. Thanks for sharing.

It's funny because the inside of a 90s car that captured all my senses was the opposite of this 430. The cabin of the 1992 400E was so austere that I couldn't help but remember exactly how it looked, smelled and felt to the touch. Glad you enjoyed it!

@@autosnob I don't disagree with your 400E assessment either. What was so great about that period was that every car interior had a unique vibe, different smells, and materials. Each manufacturer had their own unique strategy. I always think about the Maseratis, the Mercedes, Jaguars, Volvos, Saabs of that era...all so interesting in their own right..probably with the US car being the least impressive of the time. Fast forward to today, and while many interiors of new cars, while definitely some interesting design elements, are really just variations of the same. The only cars that feel "special" to me these days are the hyper expensive.

@@dmcars147 I'm hopeful that car manufacturers will recognize a need to return to form and that not all things screens make a car special. Otherwise cars interiors will only be differentiated by software.

Thank you! I haven't driven a TC but I will say it does share it's lovely leather seats with the Biturbos of that time.

I think all were 5 speed, I had 420 1985, 5 speed, just very small difference between 4 and 5:)

In the US, most 430s and 228s I've seen had the ZF automatic.
