just because you can land some great hits doesn't make you a great defenseman. other things that comes to mind is: reading the play well, positioning, skating, puck-carrying skills, out-let passing skills, composure, stick-work......

Tavares got lucky he’s head hit Kuzmenko while going down and not the ice. Looked to me like Tavares did not have his head in the game yet, and he nearly lost it cause of that. Good clean hit, going to be a lot more of those in the playoffs.

I always liked McCabe as a Sabre, his hit on Patrick Liane a few years back was great. Crushed 'em good.
Buffalo legend, 12th overall, I have to admire his hits but tbh it's expected if your 6'8 and literally only proficient at dropping a shoulder into people heads.

I’m from Vancouver and I love my team, but I also hate my team. Myers is one of those players that doesn’t contribute much considering the length he’s been under contract with the team, he’s expected to collect $5M USD this summer as a signing bonus, he’s got do defensive ability except the fact he’s tall and has a long reach, but he’s slow af. To top it off, this hit he made world easy constitute a flagrant hit as he left the ice, as in his skates and his body took flight. According to NHL ruling you cannot (for the lack of a better word), take flight, leave the ice, propel your body in w way that you become airborne. He did just that, he should be banned, he only got a penalty, the Canucks for some reason haven’t disciplined him for lack of play, he’s sucking up the teams salary cap. Just get rid of him.
Only people with weak character think that a fight is needed after a clean hit. Yes, go after the dirty hits but there used to be a time when hockey players could take a clean hit and get back up and continue playing.
only people assuming moral superiority think that they understand nuances of the pro game

It's only an issue if he leaves his feet prior to initiating contact. It's nearly impossible to stay grounded after big impact collisions, especially with the size and speed of nhlers

I paused at 0:46 and was reminded of a rule in NHL hockey that you cannot leave your feet when delivering a hit, otherwise legal or not. Hence, this was not a legal hit.
