Great work Barry. I might be slightly biased, but wow. Brings back some very cool memories. Although it appears my only vocabulary on the whole trip was "awesome and bonkers". Seems like only yesterday. Thanks again for the adventure. 🙂
Andy, I loved how it didn't matter if you were pushing your bike over a moutain or descending an epic trail you were always smiling and loving life. It truly is the journey. I hope to one day do the tour. I will follow your example, and enjoy the ups and the downs.
Awesome trip! Epic quality content! And you guys are great as well. Would love to join you on a trip and also on a beer or 2 after the ride. Thats for sure! 👌🏻🍺
Thanks so much! Yes this trip so amazing, can't wait to be allowed back to the alps!

Hi Barry, Very nice video. I really enjoyed it! Last summer we also did the Tour du Mont Blanc and enjoyed it very much. It is a great mtb Alpine activity. I'm glad that RUclips recommended me your video. I see that we like the same type of mtb activities. Now subscribed to your channel and I'll watch some of your videos in order to pick some ideas for future trips! Thanks for sharing, Sergio
Hi, thank you so much Sergio! Yes love an extreme situation, I had a quick look at your channel and see you also doing Via feratta with a bike :-) Thankyou for following my adventures and let me know what you think of them

Hey Barry, which camera gear did you use to film this video? Thanks
mate, the ride and the video you put together of it are just epic! stunning views and rewards for the hard work....glad you and andy had plenty of beer time -very well deserved with all that hiking and those mental downhill trails :) great film and music production - but the ride and the adventure.......inspirational - top work!
Thank you so much for a wonderful comment! Yes was an epic trip that led it self to stunning images :-) Oh and we did manage to sneak a few beers in, haha.
@@andypryke6750 Erm yes I would, some of the descents are pretty extreme, so would say Hardtail but not rigid. Whatever you are riding you will be hanging on grinning ear to ear
Barry Godin cool I have a longitude, and a Sonder Broken Road, both of which I love, I find there more i tackle on the Longitude than I did on my full susser, that’s got a lot to do with the sharp dip you from the from forks when you hit a hole, where as I find the longitude rolls over more
Quality video edit sir! As below, why you don’t have more hits is a surprise! Loved going to the Swiss Alps a couple years ago, hard work but so rewarding! Shared.
That place 1:13 in, remember visiting there, great place, great omelette and chips or frites haha 😀. Tre la tete is superb too, Stunning footage as always Barry!
Thanks so much Will! Yeah super happy with the way this film turned out. And that place was so good to stay, stunning view and rooms of two people and a great price.
Another fantastic video Barry. You should do a doc/ travel for Netflix. Your vids are far better than the Netflix cycling ones. Your editing and music are spot on. What online editing page do you use?
Wow, thanks so much! what a beautiful comment. I use Final cut pro X. My background is in music so really enjoy making the music and images work together
Lovely video Barry. The scenery is remarkable as one would expect from the area. Is that the MSR Hubba solo tent? If it is, how do you rate it as I’ve shortlisted it to buy? Well, it’s that or the Tarptent Rainbow.
Hi Barry, me and a group of biking friends are looking to do the tour this summer. Looks epic! Would you mind telling me where you spent your nights (hotels, etc)? that would really help with the planning. Anything you would do differently a second time around? Thanks so much for your help! Kind regards Kathrin
I really enjoyed this video and would love to learn more details as I'm hoping to ride this next year, such as what time of year you went, direction, other tips etc. Is there anywhere I can get some more info about your trip? Ben
Hey Ben! thanks so much, yeah we went in July, after most of the snow melts which you have to think about, especially after a bad winter, I have done it before in piles of snow. also went clockwise, but think it would still work both ways in places, but think clockwise is a little better.
Like wasing your vid from years ago and finding the inspiration to to Lake district loops .I find myself here after planning the TMB for 2025. Did you ever do a write up on the stages you did and how you found it ? Thanks
I must say that i always look forward to your videos and this one tops them all. What a fantastic trip and definitely one for the bucket list. Can I ask what time of the year you went there and can you get a GPX route for your trip?
Hey Matteo, thanks so much. Yes, I particularly pleased with the way this film has turned out, and so happy you think so too. This trip was back in July 2018, but as Andy will agree, it has taken me toooo long to edit this one. If you do a little googling on the TMB route, there is some amazing websites will a load of gpx tracks to download.
Barry, great example of what mountain bike means, adventure, adrenalin, suffering... Did TMB same year, but much crowded, what month did you ride it? Really good quality footage, what model of camera/s did you use it? Cheers from Spain
Hi Gabriel, thank you so much! Yes it is a great route, we had busy parts, but you always manage to get some empty spots, we were very lucky with a lot of our descents not being too busy, It was in July. The whole film is iPhone 8 and Go-pro on the chest :-)
Thanks Stephen, and not too much rain, yey. Yes, the bags were fairly heavy but not too bad. Lightweight down sleeping bag and jacket took alot of that space up. We put tools, bars and wash kits on the bike, creative packing. Big bags do make a comfortable ledge when hike a biking
Damn nice views you had on this EPIC trip! Looks so so awesome. And nice footage, cut and music. Don't stop, love watching your videos! :) Ah and what kind of cameras do you use? is it only GoPro/Actioncam?
Barry, great video - as always - I am/was planning to do the TDMB this year, I notice you wore a rucksack rather than a rear bike packing unit, could I ask your reasoning?
Hi Mark, very good question. I normally use full bikepacking gear, but these are full-suspension bikes, and the rear tyre would just rub against the rear bag when under full compression, hence the backpacks. Also when hike a bike, it is so much easy with a bag on. Have great trip!
@@barrygodin7538 Thank you, I haven't experimented with the bags on a full susser yet. When social distancing is over, if you are in the North Downs area, a coffee is on me.
Very interesting question. Alot of the climbs is not that you can not ride them, it is more the duration of the climbs, they go on for a very long time. You also for this trip would like to be a confident rider going down or will be also a lot of walking down which quite soul-destroying. But you will have one adventure together you will both never forget :-)
Hi! Yes you can! But I will say do not look at daily mileage in distance, it is the climbing per day, I would say in the alps 1000m of climbing per day is what to plan, even if that is in 20 miles :-)
Hiked TMB Courmayeur to Chamonix via Switzerland in 2014. So many familiar trail landmarks and refuges. We would like to MTB the TMB but the Wuhan Virus may have killed that possibility off, time and age will probably see to that.
Sitting on my couch watching this, making some big life decisions. Tour du Mont Blanc, here we go
Haha, hope to plan has formulated! it is an adventure of a life time! really recommend it!

Looks absolutely mental. Bloody well done. It'd take me 6 months to cycle that not 6 days 🤣
Haha, who wrote your script? A very biased comment I may say so, but what a trip! one we are definitely going back to do again
Andy, I loved how it didn't matter if you were pushing your bike over a moutain or descending an epic trail you were always smiling and loving life. It truly is the journey. I hope to one day do the tour. I will follow your example, and enjoy the ups and the downs.

Camping and a bit of whiskey he says with bright red eyes ! Yet again great footage and editing. 10/10
Haha, someone noticed :-) also that night was two people in a one-man tent, so needed to pass out asleep quickly before Andy snored
excellent film Barry,U must be a film maker at your day job! what a place, you are a lucky man to travel as you do,cheers mate!
Thanks very much! no sadly it is not the day job, just self taught and lots of practice :-)
Amazing footage and edit Barry. TDMB has been on my radar for sometime and this has made me want to do it even more!👍
