Attempt 1: From the replays I've seen, building two Spine Crawlers before 2 minutes seems to be the most effective way to defend early. Artanis used his calldown abilities well. Attempt 2: I recommend prioritizing Kerrigan's upgrades. At least Chain Reaction since that helps out so much vs the enemies. Artanis should have saved Solar Bombardment for the 2nd Hybrid. Attempt 3: Yeah, I recommend getting Heroic Fortitude early on for Kerrigan, and let her tank so you lose fewer Hydralisks early on. You need Ultralisks or Broodlords before pushing the enemy bases. You should also start thickening your defenses before 20 minutes to keep the Aberrations off your base. Attempt 6: Nope, Karax has Sentinels. Artanis has Zealots. Static defense does not revive. Use Kerrigan's leaping strike on them first to take them out immediately. Artanis needs more Reavers or Storms to deal with the enemy composition. Attempt 7: Vorazun and Kerrigan are both late-game oriented. It's already a tough combination to begin with. You need to play extremely well to not lose in the early game. Attempt 8: A pair of Spine Crawlers would have held on without any losses. Then you can rush the Baneling Nest off 1 Extractor and get those free Banelings. Attempt 9: There are three types of Zerg enemy compositions. The Roach one does not have Banelings, but it has Lurkers and Ultralisks. The Banelings one has Scourge. And the Mutalisk one has Broodlords. You can tell by the 2nd wave what exact type of composition you're facing. Here are my tips: If you insist on running Kerrigan or Zagara, you need a defensive commander like Swann or Karax for your ally. You need to defend infested waves more efficiently. Losing units to them is not great. But you need to go full offense once you're stable. Let your ally handle the defense to preserve your own army. Nathanias and I have each beaten this on Brutal as Raynor. His bio can really snowball, and it's very easy to replace them with 10+ Barracks and 6 Orbital Commands. This mutation does not have AOE mutators so bio is extremely viable. I found that stability and safety are the most critical considerations. We need static defense very early, and more static defense as we take our expansions. Then add more of those as the reviving Aberrations hit at 20 minutes.

HanBurritoz should watch CtG's channel. He has been doing Starcraft 2 weekly mutation from the very first it was launched. Very impressive plays. There are also forum on battle net and reddit after each mutation he had done so others can have the ideas.
How many time did you watch this and how much free time did you have to write this my god I read it all good tips so I might use this even though the mission probably do t come back
Lowko, here's a couple of tips for Kerrigan. In the early game, try to prioritize creep. First queen do creep before inject because Kerrigan is your main army and you want the creep as far out. Get heroic upgrade first before armor or weapon. This together with the creep lets you solo first two waves without zerglings. Make the zerglings but conserve them. You made dozens of them die for no reason when Kerrigan alone is enough. With the creep spread up very early, you can jump onto a static defense and immediately jump back. This kill the static defense and cause some of the nearby AI to aggro. But they'll be fighting Kerrigan on creep and she can solo them, even with double life as long as there's not another wave. If you did this, you can clear the expansion *much* more quickly than any of your attempts here. Remember, she gains shields as she deals damage, so even though they've double life, their dps isn't necessarily doubled so she *can* stay alive. In the normal non-mutation brutal, Kerrigan alone can be relied upon with no units until the very last two waves of most maps. When the enemy is mostly high tech ground units without much anti-air, you can consider having a mutalisks task force that focus on weakening waves vulnerable to air. Late game, brood lords should also be considered against these kinds of armies against the hybrid wave. Ultras are great but very often their pathing screws up when your ally is also heavy ground based army like Artanis. I've been playing mostly Kerrigan since the start of co-op and while your mechanics are great, I think you should do more to abuse her power. And I mean the hero herself. You've been doing well with her units for the most part.
I find in a lot of cases that Zerglings and their upgrades, while good, are often a waste since Kerrigan can solo early and if you skip Zerglings+their tech you can get up to higher tech units and upgrades more quickly. Saving money on lings and melee upgrades means more Hydras (and sooner) and faster Ultras too.

Hey Lowko, I managed to complete it twice on brutal with probably 30+ failed attempts. So here are few tips: 1. Abathur is by far the best commander for this mutation. There are just tons of biomass around and the units get buffed up pretty fast. 2. He pairs up good with defensive commanders like Karrax or Swann (if you prefer to play safer). 3. If u like to be more offensive, you can pair Abathur with Nova or Vorazun -with Vorazun make sure you put dark pylons (buffed with range from mastery points) near each base and surround those with buildings. This way the attackers can't reach the pylons and derp out. The abbarations later on become harmless. Make sure all buildings in the base are invisible. Do the same with the expos and defend only against the big waves, which bring detectors. -with Nova focus on mec. Those siege tanks do great when pushing bases. Support them with raven turrets and goliaths/hellbats. And put tons of static defense around. You will have the resources after the 20-th min. mark. When pushing the last base stop defending at all and push for victory. It will look more or less like a base trade, but should work out fine. Hole this was helpful :) Cheers!
I know this videos is a bit older, but I wanted to thank you for being such a good sport and actually posting your losses! Nothing wrong with that, and honestly makes people like me (silver player) feel way better! More power to you my friend, and I hope your channel continues to grow! I value your input and commentary.
Just got it on brutal with Abathur and Artanis. Was against protoss air. I massed ravagers and around 20 queens. We basically pushed together until the aberration started spawning. Then I sent my ally to do full time defending, while I push with the huge army. The corrosive bile was very helpful.
One of the things I learned in co-op is that you need to change up your unit composition against different enemy units. Like the protoss ground. It is very strong against pure hydras, but if you add in some brood lords, the broodlings can soak up the damage and brood lords don't really die since enemy has no anti air
I did complete this one. A good strategy: Use Vorazun's timestop for every major push (4 hybrids, 2 enemy bases), use Dark Templar and Corsair(upgrade cloak and disruption web IMPORTANT,). This should do when teaming with any commander, but best with Artanis for the obvious reason.
Yeah with Karax it was manegable. Solar beam on first hybrids, few turrets for defense of mains, ally cleared secondaries which I fortified and from there we slowly pushed forward with monoliths agroing always only few enemies at once from those defense checkpoints. Altough we were probably lucky since we got Skytoss as enemy and those turrets were dealing with enemy pheonix attacks perfectly
Nice video and well played. Haven't tried out yet but Karax looks like a good choice for this mutation. Best static defenses and phoenix, which is probably the only unit that could dodge the bonus objective boss' rapid stun.
Vorazun cloaks building on high ground to block the entrance, the same with other entrance but tiny hole to pass; places a dark pylon near the pit. Vorazun must expand before 2nd hybrid. Karax builds cannon to defend the dark pylon, give Vorazun 1 gas in expansion after 2nd hybrid, build carrier in the end. Must aim detector first! Good luck.
yep, a lot of people don't realize that units near the fight don't matter at all until the hybrids are dead. It's frustrating when your partner splits his units like that and it costs you the game.
The hybrids are a resource drainer. They literally half your army unless you go in 100 % But then there are the little skirmish groups that constantly pop in and out. Lots of fun!
When he decided to play Kerrigan my first thought was "didn't he learn his lesson in previous missions? That Zagara suppresses Kerrigan in hard missions?".
Hi Lowko. I made a very good strategy that work realy well. You will need a Vorazun and a "quick start" commander. The idea is use the Dark Pylon (with mastery) to cloak the entire base against the infested (building around the pylon for protection)! I completed with a Raynor buddy as we just leave the base behind while we watched the aberrations do nothing, just standing still.
I did something very similar. Completed it on Hard but not successful on Brutal. It is a good strategy because the computer does not always send detection with its mini raiding parties and they really do just stand there. Vorazun and Karax have been my most successful teaming. Karax simply turtles the base and builds down the strip. Vorazun takes out hybrids with calldowns with support from karax.
Won with Vorazun Karax on double Brutal. Karax full defend, Vorazun full assault. The trick is that you use black hole on every incoming attack wave (the ones marked with a red diamond on the map). For some reason, the AI is kinda messed up when speed freaks in in play, they will hit your base, then suddenly turn around and run away, then run back in. This makes it EXTREMELY difficult for Karax to effectively use his powers on the attack waves, but with black holes, they get locked down and are easy pickings for his energy based powers. I didn't even have to cheese the final wave with Vorazun's timestop. Just save every timestop to use with a Hybrid spawn, and it's easy to win against them. If you need to, chain a black hole to the end of the timestop duration to further extend the disabling. My composition with Vorazun: DTs/Stalkers + Corsairs core. Once you get your second base up finish upgrading zealot charge and stun and dump excess mins into zealots. Finish up on the high end with some void rays if you fancy them. The DT multi-slash and corsair disruption webs are must have abilities, and need to be prioritized. This one was certainly difficult, but honestly I had less issues with it than some of the other mutations in the past (on Brutal difficulty).
We WON!!!! Vorzun with Artanis. DT DA with zealots tempest. And to build cannons esp in later game to counter the aberrations. Plus constant upgrading and protecting the expansions. With the DT DA you can counter any ground forces and steal units. The tempest can snipe down units for afar. Zealots for defense. More importantly was to coordinate the timestop/black hole with solar bombardment to kill the hybrids.Force them to stay still and die. They can be one shot with that combo. Like at 10:20 Of course we faced a protoss enemy, so no idea against Terran or Zerg. And of course, screw the damn bonus. Look forward to when you eventually overcome this one. Esp if you manage to do this with the zerg commanders.
Maybe try Alarak, Lowko? Alarak's Vanguards will be very useful against ground and slayers for air. You could also try Nova. With her powerful unit composition, she might handle the attack waves, the only thing is, you cannot reinforce quickly with Nova. You can try Raynor using BioBall, I guess.
I completed brutal difficulty this week...on like 30th try. Was super difficult and i was super lucky. Vorazun{90] plus Abathur[me/85]. Not using time stop glitch, but many stealth pylons must be very well placed. Abathur full air, i spent all my leftover minerals on spires. Vorazun went all DT. It was verzus zergs.
I also think Karax + Artanis is another good combo since shield over charge, guardian shell and reconstruction beam will buff the duration of the units significantly.
When you're team up with Karax or Swan to run full defence, you can keep your expand but you lose on hybrid run, when you're not with them, you couldn't even keep your base after 20 min when they start to have Liberator/Nukes/Brood Lords/Archon.....ect
seems like Spirit TV are running Vorazun - Karax. might be a good idea to have Karax tower up the paths leading to your bases while Vorazun rushes to DTs as fast as possible. would be kinda tricky to pull off too.
Mistakes made: 1) All enemies respawn. Hybrids and bonus objectives included. 2) If the hybrids are not dead, Ji'nara will continue to lose ground even if your armies are next to her. 3) Activating the hybrids without sufficient forces. 4) Needs more air-to-ground. Too many ground units take a long time for them to reach the enemy.
Hey Lowko... just finished this an hour ago with a combination of Karax/static deff only + vorazuns voidrays vs Tossair. Saw some videos where other ppl managed to do this, and mostly theyve gone for airunits. Especially Abathurs and vorazuns Air can be strong enough to clear the map mostly solo, if u get the right enemy unit composition.
Stukov, and Karax or swan. Infested terran is the perfect offense and they come with super effective anti air and liberator siege tank combo. Then you will outnumber your opponent even if you gotta killem twice
No joke, I finished this mission on brutal on the first attempt with myself playing Vorazun and my mate playing Nova against a zerg opponent. I sealed our entries with increased range dark pylons and a small amount of static defenses making the attacks against the base a joke. After that dark templar and corsair with timestop for the hybrids and vortex for every other wave made this mission not difficult at all. We were using the teleport from Nova and some pylons i placed in the middle of the map aswell to reposition quickly. You could do that with kerrigans nydus as well. Hope it helps. :)
I have just passed it, use vorazun and enclose dark pylon for early defense, they cant hit it because of no vision, then keep building around ur dark pylon so that not even ranged infested can hit it, then when aberrations come u can forget about ur base and just play
Lowko - use scourge which are really good! but only build them if you have the Hive tier upgrade that make them cost 50 less gas. That splash upgrade will make them destroy enemy air! :)
try using karax and abathur. abathur's inject locust could be very porfull against respawning enemies, that is if it has a probability of being triggered by respawned enemies that dies again. have karax build static defences at your pit and base entrances and eventually transition into carriers? have abathur build a pile of roaches/ravagers, maybe some dedicated aa. the first hybrid wave might be difficult with this setup, but the remainder of the game should be significantly easier. make sure to deploy abthur's forces and whatever few zealots karax kan deploy, against the first hybrid wave, assisted by abathur heal and karax bombardment.
I've played this mutation earlier and I think the problem was choosing Kerrigan to play this mission. My team was Raynor + Artanis and I rush Marine+Marauder+Medic +3/+3 with Marine Shields and Medics Upgraded Healing and it was... a little bit less impossible
I succeed with Swann and my ally used Vorazun. Swann used static defense to defend bases and route of enemy attack. If Amon's army composition is Terran air, many missile turrets are needed. Then make an army with 8 tanks on a Hercules (others defend with static defense), hell bats, goliaths, thor, and 8 science vessels. Science vessels' abilities are important for saving you units and healing the army and ally's. My ally's army composition is DT and corsair.
vorazun(dt/pirate) + raynor(bio) = eazy peazy ts on every hybrid wave, hyperion on mass attack waves, great combination of black hole and aoe banshees and powerful a-click on other staff :D nice tip - place dark pilons near main/exp and block melee access to them by 4-5 cannons or 2 full bunkers. after this, u'll forget of infested waves. ) dark pilon cover must be maximazed.
Use the mutalisk and brood lord combo to counter the mass of units. And the cannons. That should soften your enemies for ally support. Just for future attempts.
lowko, i dont know if somebody told you already but in this mission the hybrid spawn based on how far youve gone not how long its gone, so the final group of hybrid wont spawn untill your almost there
At a certain time, the Hydrids will appear regardlessly where the Champions are. Otherwise most players will delay to push in order to max out and this mission is no longer a challenge. Giving advice with fault information is not very good!
Coop missions are very opposite to ladder play. Its more like fastest money possible no rush (but low economy). U try and rush your upgrades and fully saturate 2 bases before even producing an army. You just rotate ur special abilities to survive. If u make too many units quickly and take too long to expand u will be overwhelmed late game. So mutations that make u fight for ur expansion are rough (unless the affixes are tardedly easy).
Tip: you always have a lot of larvae. Dont build drones for natural in the main as you have larvae in both bases and your bottle neck is minerals and not larvas.
Took me a few times (With hard failures) but eventually pulled it off. I played Vorazun with my partner as Nova. The trick is to somehow make it through the early game which is pretty tough when you virtually have no army. :) After that the late game is much more manageable. I guess you also need some luck with the opposing army composition. Anyway - would be nice to team up with you if you still haven't gotten around to nail it.
I almost did it twice with Vorazun (my ally was Karax). He was with the static defence and I was with attacking. We almost did it but i didn't have sufficient units for the last hybrids behind the pit. It is so difficult only one army to attack, because Karax with static defence has no units...only Spear of Adun. So.....my advice is high level Vorazun and Karax AND save cooldowns for every hybrid spot on the map (Time Stop+Spear of Adun). It will be done, mark my words!!!
Well if anything, Vorazun wins most mutations. Dark archons can deal with basically anything, and are pretty powerful by themselves. Capturing them means not only do you kill that unit, it's yours now and you don't have to deal with the second one. However, this mostly only works against protoss, because zerg ultralisks can't be targeted and Terran doesn't have as many big units. If you can steal a couple of carriers and like 6+ supply units, it makes the fight SOO much easier. Just make sure your ally let's you tkae their natural gases. Vorazun is op. Black hole, shadow guard, dark pylons, everything!!!
I wonder if using lurkers or swarm hosts would be good here? Playing with vorazun means they will ressurect if they die as long as they are burrowed, and a lot of this seems like defence. So make a bunch of lurkers use dark pylons to warp them around for defence, and if they die the rez. Just a thought anyway.
tomorrow will you try the mission with alarack with his high templars they will use there psionic beams to the enemies and with sacrifice they will use it so many time and will kill enemies again when they provide I do the mission with this strategy
New plan : We are going to do the same thing
I know, right? *sigh*
Out of ideas for this mutation lol
Yup
Attempt 1: From the replays I've seen, building two Spine Crawlers before 2 minutes seems to be the most effective way to defend early. Artanis used his calldown abilities well.

Hot damn, this one sounds fairly tough, but looks even harder than I imagined!
JayborinoPlays you give it a try jay! I was just done watching your previous co-op missions. It was pretty intense.
could the dark pylon be used to make cloak field, and then put a lot of cannons around it, so melee units can;t reach it, withouth detection?
whoa ivan i had the exact same thought
Hey Jayborino! Fancy seeing you here, I love your videos! you helped me so much with the brutal campaign missions :D
Remember guys, use lowkos tipps: "Whenever there is a Video on RUclips with over 15 minutes, just skip about one third and you'll be perfect" - LowkoTV 2016
Nuke Official exactly - but on Punday Monday, just tell your wife your eyebrows are drawn on too high. She'll look surprised ;)
I love the fact that you are showing your failed attempt. It shows how hard the mission really is and it's entertaining!
Hello 360p my old friend
I've come to talk with you again,

hooray 1080p is live

Wow, can't believe this was 4 years ago. Time does fly.
The hybrids DO come back btw
Hey Lowko, I managed to complete it twice on brutal with probably 30+ failed attempts. So here are few tips:
1. Abathur is by far the best commander for this mutation. There are just tons of biomass around and the units get buffed up pretty fast.
2. He pairs up good with defensive commanders like Karrax or Swann (if you prefer to play safer).
3. If u like to be more offensive, you can pair Abathur with Nova or Vorazun

hybrids ressurect
Saw the little bonus triangle flying around on the mini map before super fast, was like this is gonna be good. You did not disappoint. lol

This one is so difficult..
won it with Karax + Vorazun (vs zerg).
1 word: Stukov

Lowko plz, mass scourges as Zagara is core to most maps

Thanks man. Last day before work starts again and I get a hr and a half. Better than Christmas.
Tony614 couldn't agree more I love these co op missions it's so fun to watch !
The way the 3rd mutator was worded made it seem like the units would never die.
It reminds me of Husky Starcraft's IMBA League Zombies
the Hyperion solos the bonus, but as soon as I saw you walking toward it with hydras, I was like heh they're doomed.
The Hybrid override units near the Heros. Need to rush the Hybrids ASAP. Save all spell for the Hybrids. Great Video as always Lowko!

24:20 dude the power of Hybrids push it to the pit xD, when you do the custom mutation ?
1:13:13 the best moment, laughed my ass off when those tanks sieged :D
Don't. . . don't go for bonus on brutal mutations. That's painful to watch :P
it's not that hard the last few weeks, but this one IS really painful
When I saw the triangle of the elemental on the minimap move so fast I already knew it was not going to be a good idea.
Admittedly, it was hilarious to watch it revive.
Often the best part of the video is Lowko's reaction when he gets wrecked by something.
Seems like perfect mission for Abathur.

Like at 10:20
Of course we faced a protoss enemy, so no idea against Terran or Zerg.
And of course, screw the damn bonus.
Look forward to when you eventually overcome this one. Esp if you manage to do this with the zerg commanders.
You can do it lowko! You're so pro!
1:30:30 Lowkos face sums it all up.
When you're team up with Karax or Swan to run full defence, you can keep your expand but you lose on hybrid run, when you're not with them, you couldn't even keep your base after 20 min when they start to have Liberator/Nukes/Brood Lords/Archon.....ect
Karax focus the defence and suport atk with kerrigan ou zagara
seems like Spirit TV are running Vorazun - Karax. might be a good idea to have Karax tower up the paths leading to your bases while Vorazun rushes to DTs as fast as possible. would be kinda tricky to pull off too.
Mistakes made:
1) All enemies respawn.
Especially Abathurs and vorazuns Air can be strong enough to clear the map mostly solo, if u get the right enemy unit composition.
when i saw the picture for this mission im like wow hes finally gona play alarack! but he didnt ;(
And, lowko, LOOK AT THE BATTLE WHEN IT HAPPENS! The hybrids WERE reviving...
Stukov, and Karax or swan. Infested terran is the perfect offense and they come with super effective anti air and liberator siege tank combo. Then you will outnumber your opponent even if you gotta killem twice
Try Vorazun + Artanis. Black Hole for minions and Time Stop + Solar Bombardment for hybrids.
I imagine Swan should be good for this mutation -- he got just the right special weapon to deal with a shitton of forces.
Lowko is that one annoying co-op ally who doesn't help pushing and just stands there to the side, just outside the area.
id personally run Karax and Alarak or Abathur. Gluck Lowko!
vorazun + karax makes this doable as long as u dont go against air or zerg attacking with vipers
Nope, the air Terran with Raven is no better.
try using karax and abathur.
abathur's inject locust could be very porfull against respawning enemies, that is if it has a probability of being triggered by respawned enemies that dies again.
have karax build static defences at your pit and base entrances and eventually transition into carriers?
have abathur build a pile of roaches/ravagers, maybe some dedicated aa.
the first hybrid wave might be difficult with this setup, but the remainder of the game should be significantly easier.
make sure to deploy abthur's forces and whatever few zealots karax kan deploy, against the first hybrid wave, assisted by abathur heal and karax bombardment.
As a Zagara player, you need to make bile launchers at your bases in order to kill attacking packs of enemies.
Banelings, eliminated, exploded. Revived. Pain.
Lowko TV is the best at all the commander.
Abathur will be good here, because the 2 life bar units will drop lot of biomass.
wtf that movement speed is INSANE
vorazun(dt/pirate) + raynor(bio) = eazy peazy
ts on every hybrid wave, hyperion on mass attack waves, great combination of black hole and aoe banshees and powerful a-click on other staff :D
nice tip - place dark pilons near main/exp and block melee access to them by 4-5 cannons or 2 full bunkers. after this, u'll forget of infested waves. ) dark pilon cover must be maximazed.
I feel like 4 or 5 mindcontrol dark archons would have dumpstered this mission
Artanis is most certainly the way to go on this mission with reavers, dragoons, and zealots
Giving advice with fault information is not very good!
ive never had the hybrids apear becuse of the timer so i didnt know, thanks for correcting me
Alarak is the win this week
i roll over normal difficulty, but this week's mutation was hard as balls.
I think kerrigan is fine but why don’t you try to use nydus lowko??
Coop missions are very opposite to ladder play. Its more like fastest money possible no rush (but low economy). U try and rush your upgrades and fully saturate 2 bases before even producing an army. You just rotate ur special abilities to survive. If u make too many units quickly and take too long to expand u will be overwhelmed late game. So mutations that make u fight for ur expansion are rough (unless the affixes are tardedly easy).
A few lurkers for home base defences, possibly??
I hope you try again, just like the unit morphing mission.
INSPIRE!!!!!!!
Tip: you always have a lot of larvae. Dont build drones for natural in the main as you have larvae in both bases and your bottle neck is minerals and not larvas.
this make me want to play star craft again
I am much reassured knowing even lowko couldn't handle it
i bet there will be people who will say that it was such a easy mission without beating it on brutal.
I've succeeded twice. Both times as Vorazun (DT corsair). Once with Nova ally and once with Raynor ally (bio). I failed it maybe 10 times :D
Took me a few times (With hard failures) but eventually pulled it off. I played Vorazun with my partner as Nova.
The trick is to somehow make it through the early game which is pretty tough when you virtually have no army. :)
After that the late game is much more manageable.
It will be done, mark my words!!!
lowko neads to pay the angry couch a visit
i failed 4 times. I gave up. On brutal the bonus its ridiculous, and don't mention those aberrations around 20mins mark that constantly rekt your base
good luck looks crazy!
Black hole, shadow guard, dark pylons, everything!!!
this week is insane...
"I'm out of batteries for this camera" - Lmao..
I just beat it with Karax/Kerrigan. Karax builds tons of static defense and kerrigan pushes constantly with the help of his abilities.
1:01:04 Infestor: Oh shid oh shid oh shiiiiiiiiiiid halp
Love your vids Lowko!
Mind control or reclamation. Check out CtG strat. It's all about responding to waves and minimizing the amount of army just standing around Jinara.
I thuoght only I cant win this week mutation ^-^ but look like I wrong
hybrids did came back, you just killed em fast
tomorrow will you try the mission with alarack with his high templars
they will use there psionic beams to the enemies and with sacrifice they will use it so many time and will kill enemies again when they provide I do the mission with this strategy
provide that was an error
I try to say revive
+Alex Harizanov I gave this a try, but late game performance in StarCraft is pretty bad and I couldn't control my army properly.
Thx I will try and you are right Zagara's scourge will ez kill flying hibrids and time stop with banelings will be good combination
Ok but Thx....
LowkoTV Nova also can get really much damage and hitpoints quickly into combat
