  • The Ancient City of Pingyao is UNESCO World Heritage site for being "an exceptionally well-preserved example of a traditional Han Chinese city, founded in the 14th century. Its urban fabric shows the evolution of architectural styles and town planning in Imperial China over five centuries."
The impressive city walls (total length 6 km/3.7 mi) were constructed in 14th century. Most buildings in the Old city are from the Ming and Qing dynasties. During the late Qing Dynasty, Pingyao was the financial center of China.

I AMAZED HOW WELL THE CITY HAS BEEN PRESERVED FOR SO LONG AND IT EXEMPLIFIES THE FACT THAT CHINA HAD PRODUCED ARCHITECTURAL MASTER PIECES THROUGH OUT ITS HISTORY.THE VIDEO IS EXCELLENT AS USUAL WITH RICH MUSIC ACCOMPANYING IT.

This is my hometown and I would like to mention that It is lovely to visit Pingyao when it is not the national holidays or it can be very crowdy. Also, winter is not the recommended season to be here.

what i love about your videos are that you always take shots at an eye level and never a drone. makes the viewer feel like he/she's there. plus the wide framing to capture more into the scene, plus slow moving pans. really awesome videos!

One of the biggest tragedies happened when europeans ganged up to burn, loot and pillage the famous old summer palace "yuan ming yuan" in 1860. It was said to be the biggest, most impressive and beautiful garden palaces in the world. Something which even the well known Versailles cannot compare. The palace was so big it took 4000 men and more than 3 days to burn and destroy it. Things the troops could not take with them, they destroyed. Till this day many of its prized artworks, sculptures sit in western musuems around the world.
China was a pinnacle of human civilisation for thousands of years. But was ganged up and humiliated by the west during its weakest hundred. I dont doubt there will be a reckoning when it wakes up from its slumber.

Thanks to the author of the channel for this fascinating video! It is interesting to see how people live in other countries! It is very important to know foreign languages on such trips. I would like to recommend to all travelers a practical guide to learning foreign languages by Yuriy Ivantsiv " Polyglot Notes. Practical tips for learning foreign languages". This book contains a lot of useful tips on how to learn a foreign language for tourists, students, entrepreneurs and anyone who needs a foreign language in life. There are a lot of good tips on how to solve problems with the language from beginner to advanced level of language learning. It turns out that the traveler only needs to know a few dialogues and you can easily travel around the world! You don't have to spend a lot of time to fully learn a foreign language, you just need to learn what you can use when you travel. I wish everyone exciting travels!

This has to have modern re-inforcement right ? It looks too beautiful for a wooden piece to survive.

Not all of them are from 14th century; they range from 10th century to 19th century.(The oldest one in Pingyao is Zhenguo Temple(10th century)). So some of them may seem more intact than the others. Btw, reconstructing WOODEN buildings are not considered as "modern reinforcement"(we typically don't reconstruct though). Most of Japan's ancient buildings are products of "modern reinforcement", but they retain the original design, so that's OK.
