#Pingyao #China #Travel
Thank you for watching! Hope you enjoyed Pingyao - and making some new Chinese friends - as much as we did! If you know of any more great places to visit in China, we'd love to hear from you where we should go next. Thanks for being here and see you in the next one (don't forget to subscribe). Byeeeee!
Pingyao is located in Shanxi province where I come from, thank you for share the sightseeing and promote the ancient city which been protected very well in thousands years. While, one thing to clarify is that, it is not like Beijing or any city in China don't have street food, it just you can not set your small truck to sell food where ever you want in the street, cuz, it is pretty big issue, some people just sell food in main avenue as well, they cuase trafic, they block the passway for people and blind people, and another big issue is it get very dirty on the street. So, government formulate a series regulation to manage small street food owner, they set up the open market where u can sell with lower rent, and u need to have a health license and meet the food safe standards to sell. and also, they built the whole special street, usually all traditional style street where all sell snack and local street food or other small staff. Like Guijie and Nanluoguxiang in Beijing, Chenghuangmiao in Shanghai, Huiming street in Xian, I think you guys already been there, so you will know. This is very good regulation, things been managed by order.
Yes it's good that the government wants to manage the safety standards etc. But we love the charm of street food stalls. Often you can find really great food there. We found the food street inside the wall in Pingyao to be very geared towards tourists. Luckily there was also one just outside the wall.
The old lady was the cutest omg! 😭
When she first started taking pictures she was like “Welcome!”
“What a handsome young man!”
“Please come (to China) again!”
That couple seems like the happiest and cutest couple ever 🥺
Pingyao was such a surprise! It felt really special roaming those ancient streets. Really loving China so far. The people are so kind and the food... it's the best!
Right on about China! So far it's been a great ride.
POLLUTION SUCK
That old couple was soooo sweet. I understand basic mandarin and they were just trying their hardest to make you feel welcome, but couldn't overcome the language barrier. At 3:57 when the old lady shook your hand she said, "Please come visit again!" in the cutest way possible 😭
aw the old chinese couple were so nice! the lady kept saying "welcome to china!"
I love how every time I watch the part of the video where we are invited to have our picture taken, I notice something new that cracks me up. People staring at us in the background, people clambering over the entry fence. Haha, I loved this day SO much :)
You're going to be very famous in China for sure!
@@NaickKim People seemed to be very friendly and welcoming
@@leekimwah Yes they are! We heard some terrible stories before we came here. But the Chinese people have been very friendly and welcoming! Have you been to China?
@@NaickKim I went to China for the very first time in February. I visited Chengdu and surrounding area. I had a wonderful time ! I intend to visit Yunnan next February.
@@leekimwah Chengdu sounds really great. Everyone we meet is positive about it. We would love to see the panda's. But we decided to skip it for now in favour of some other destinations. We will have to go back haha. Yunnan sounds beautiful too. We hadn't heard so mucj about it, but we just met some people who are going there.
I guys glad you enjoyed the city of Pingyao, I'm sure you'll enjoyed Xian as well, the terra cotta warrior army is awesome. By the way there's the Donghuamen food market at night in Beijing, it's worth seeing because of all the exotic foods they have there. Some Chinese people from the interior of the country want to have their pictures taken with you because in many cases they have never seen westerners in person and they want to show their relatives/friends when they go back to their villages, that's what I was told by a Chinese tour guide on our trip to China.
We thought it was pretty funny to have our pictures taken. Your explanation makes perfect sense 😊👌🏻 the Terracotta army was really cool, we just visited. Really impressive 🤯
Yes, in some parts of China, life is still quite primitive and detached from the rest of the world, both in a good and a bad sense. I have followed some Chinese RUclipsrs and their videos are very revealing.
welcome to CHINA, my friends!
Thank you!
This makes us so much more excited for when we get to China shortly!!!
Definitely make a small stop in Pingyao if you can! A short daytrip there is really all you need but it's really beautiful 😊👌🏻
Hahaha...I have not even gone 1/5 of the video and I am now typing away! The woman sad welcome to you guys and she wanted her husband to also take a picture with your handsome husband! That's a lot of welcome and warm wishes hehehe. Now I must continue watching ....So far like what I have been seeing.....
Hahaha Thank you ;)
Thanks for the translation, now we finally know what they were saying. It's too bad we can't speak Chinese. We tried to learn a few words but it is really difficult. Where are you from?
We've got plenty more videos from China. We really love China so far!
@@NaickKim I am a Malaysian Chinese. Truly, I enjoyed watching your interesting take on this ancient city of China.
Really glad you loved it Om Ni! So you live in China? We visited Malaysia a couple of years ago and really loved it as well. Borneo has such beautiful nature.
that lady in red called you handsome boy, lol
She is so kind haha.
The more episodes I watched the more I like your style of presentation. Either you're getting better at it or I'm getting better in appreciating your quality of production technically and descriptively.
Thank you for your kind words Janasus. It's probably the second haha.
All old Chinese cities used to have city walls like this, but as the last empire collapsed they all failed to disrepair and eventually were demolished, except a few that survived. They are building new ones to look like the old walls, I just wish they could use the traditional materials instead of reinforced concrete structure.
We read that the wall in Pingyao is the best preserved old wall in China. We're happy we went there, the place is very charming. Thanks for the info and for watching!
@@NaickKim another preserved wall is the Xi An wall. Beijing, Luo Yang, used to have big city walls like Xi An because they are ancient capitals. The old city wall in Ji Nan used to run buses on the top because the wall was so wide, but it get demolished. you can still see old pictures on youtube.
Big cities had big walls, small cities had smaller walls. All cities had walls. Even cities next to Yangze river had walls like Wu Han and Chong Qing.
Every city closed their city gates at night every night, so that no body could get in or out to protect themselves.
Wow love the architecture and the street food, and the purple cookie, maybe you can call it the Prince cookie 😁
ahahaha the Prince cookie, that is definitely the best name for it :D
Amazing vlog Naick & Kim. Am excited for more of your adventures in China
Thank you! We have plenty more videos on China coming up.
Thanks guys you Took the video of my hometown!was so beautiful in your video! My grandparents live in here and grow up in here ! They both passed away 20 years ago and your radios make me think about them
How nice is that....,😍. Nice people there.
Yes so sweet 😍 we couldn't understand each other but google translate saved the day haha 😉
woww this is so beautiful guys...looks like the Chinese movie set...^^
Yes it's really amazing. Such a beautiful ancient city. We couldn't believe it. When we arrived we were in awe. Have you been to China?
Hi guys, Your vlogs are really interesting, with different layers of each story, full of fun acturally. And I just want to keep watching many of your other videos since I happened to find one on youtube.. Great job :P
Hi Lemon Rose 👋🏻 thank you so much 😘 love hearing that! We try to get a video up every other day now so we'll be sure to keep 'em coming 😉 thank you for watching 🙏🏻🤗
Welcome two to visit Zhejiang, China! 欢迎两位来中国浙江旅游!
谢谢
pretty cool scenerio
I visited Pingyao in mid October. Amazing place. McDonald's and KFC has not reached that part of China yet. But I did Starbucks.
This was fun!
5 million subscribers...😁 Definitely one day...
haha, here's hoping Shantamoy! ;) thank you for watching!!
Naick & Kim. Thanks for your beautiful video in China. I love it.
Glad you liked it!
Hahahhahah the wedding cars lol interesting timing
True, haha :D it was so random! I love stuff like that :)
Naick & Kim as a Chinese, I personally never seen this kind of wedding cars with loud music . It is nice to see in ur video 😆
She called u little handsome boy,and they asked where are u from, the US?France?Belarus? Russia? or Soviet Union😂😂?。。。
Hahaha. Thanks for translating. We managed to explain we are from Belgium.
@@NaickKim and that guy tried to communicate with you in Russian.
Oh I did't notice. My Russian is not that fluent, but it is slightly better than my Chinese.
Yes Google Translate helped us with that haha 😃
I have never been to Pingyao! Thanks for sharing. Do you travel all year round?
You're welcome! We left our jobs to travel for a year back in January. Heading home for the holidays in a few weeks, but there will definitely be more travel after that 😉
@1:05 I would have been disappointed if he didn't do that. LOL!
By the way, I enjoyed the dancing with noodles scene. Very entertaining.
Ahaha yes it's classic Naick I'm afraid 🤣 I wonder how long it took the noodle lady to perfect that dancing, she was so good at it 😊
There are actually tons of street food in St. WangFuJing in BeiJing at least I know. You can try there next time.😊
Thank you!
That’s funny about the no spitting sign. When I was 15 (many, many moons ago), we visited China for the first time. My sister and I would spit in the ponds, not because of phlegm, but we wanted to see if the gold fish would swim to it thinking it’s food. The guards would run over to us and my relatives had to explain that we were foreigners and didn’t understand the language. So I guess now they have signs in English. 😁
interesting experience :)) can't wait to see more.
thanks!
Nice to see you. I also want to become an explorer just like you but a single question how do you get money to travel
Very very lovely video. Have a nice trip and expect your next ones.
😘✌❤
I like the music that comes with the video, Thanks
Glad you like it
In Pingyao, a merchantile bank there in 1823 issued the first bank draft.
Amazing City 😍
40 min drive from my howntown! Makes me wanna go home!
I can see why :) it's beautiful!
First time I watch a video with zero
Dislike 👍👍👍
Haha, now it has some. Who could not like Pingyao ;)
Happy to see you guys in my hometown! It is been a whore year not going back, miss it.
Great work! I’m very happy to see that you like my grandmother’s hometown Pingyao. I subscribed your channal ^ ^
Thank you! Pingyao is really beautiful. Does your grandmother still live there?
There is a karaoke bar id recommend i think the name was sakura its such a fun bar love it
thanks for the tip Isabella! next time ;)
我认为丽江和大理也不错,推荐给你们!
The Chinese camera woman in red was saying to you, " Must take a photo shot with your handsome man with my husband together". As if his husband is not handsome enough. Bet you both missed understanding her perfect chinese . 😂😂
Yeeees I love that! I initially figured she wanted a picture because Naick is so tall (something of an anomaly in China, I guess). He laughed when we learned what she really said :D
@@NaickKim No, plenty of tall people in China, but usually in the north though, but not that many foreigners in smaller cities.
lovely
Glad you liked it.
Hey guys, just curious, what stabiliser are you using?
Zhiyun crane plus. Our full gear is always linked in the description to each video 😊
@@NaickKim thanks
As you wish, I just subscribed your channel😁 keep going
Thank you Bedjo! Glad you enjoy it.
"Are you from Soviet Union?" hahahhaha
It doesnt exist anymore for a couple of years :)
Naick & Kim Yes I can’t stop laughing when that aunt said it
6:57 You are right, they are wedding cars.
We also have this custom in Belgium with the wedding cars.
Welcome to my hometown!
Thank you, Blue Sky. We loved Pingyao.
So, where is Belgium anyway?
I think you are smart enough to use google.
Naick & Kim 🙌🙌🙌👍👍👍👏👏👏
Thanks! 😊🙏🏻
"Parabolic wouding" :-D
yeah that's a real beauty isn't it :D
我就是这个古城的居民,welcome to ping Yao
Ironically, Pingyao is preserved up to now, didn’t damaged or vanished during culture revolution is due to its poverty in this area, nobody seems want to anything with this old ancient town, back then those old constructions seems useless to local people, until 1992, local government want to find some tourist site to make money, they found this ancient town, then start to promote this place.
That is quite ironic indeed. Luckily it staid this well preserves.
@@NaickKim there are at least 3 other more towns that are preserved like this one in China.
Beijing is the political capital and Shanghai is the financial capital of China, although both of them still have street food but are not the best in the country. Street food in Chongqing and Xian are among the most famous.
Large vats of water are installed at every tower. They are used for fighting against fire. They have been used for centuries
makes sense! Thanks for the info!
Is this about the city of Pingyao or the two people who think all viewers want to see them?🧐
Beautiful city, I want to visit!
Pingyao is amazing indeed!
nice page and its always so much fun and heart warming to see oldie chinese people taking pics of white people in awe lmao you'll shouldve just said europe
That could have been easier 😅 we initially showed them Belgium on the map, zooming out nicely starting from China, but that didn't do the trick 😋
I like pingyao city, but I love shuanglin temple and Zhenguo temple outside pingyao! Very quiet, not touristy!
Kool video .haoda .
Thank you!
8:16 I love this girl.
Yes it is very impressive!
You will get your wish of 5M subscribers. Just give it time.
Your enjoyment of being in China is infectious , I love China, but your covering of Pingyao is terrific , such a beautiful place, what has China done to have experienced so much tragedy, but produced so much beauty? There are no words to adequately describe the beauty of their towns/ Cities . The incessant accusations that the west keeps wrongly accusing China of being a dictatorial country are dispelled by the over friendly locals
Thanks for watching.
Nice city. I always want to visit there, just couldn't find time for that.
Haha nice! We really recommend it. Where are you from?
@@NaickKim Hehe, I am a Chinese, I am familiar with Henan and Shaanxi province.
@@wangfeiapollo oh that's great. Where do you live?
@@NaickKim Hi, I live in Baoji, also a beautiful city.
just looked it up on google, Baoji looks so green! It looks like a nice place to live :)
There are so many interesting places to visit in China, won't be able to visit 5% of them. What a shame!
Yes there is so much to see. We'll have to come back 😊
Go to Western China! Please visit Li-jiang, Xinjiang, Tibet, and Tiger Leaping Gorge :)
Thanks for the tips! We will visit western China next time we visit. We heard really good things about the west!
I just subscribed
Woopwoop! Thanks Jaya, that's awesome :)

3:23 so that man doesn't speak any English but can speak a little bit Deutsch? it seems that he understood when you say Brussels and said danke?😂
Who knows. We actually met a few other Chinese people who could speak German and didn't speak English.
Thanks for the info! It makes sense. It's good to have English as a mandatory subject, since it is the most spoken language in the world.
Brugge
Ohhh that is the reason for not street food in Beijing.... I heard there is one street with “street food” but it is more for tourist and you can eat scorpions and other weird things that the Chinese people don’t eat, just a show for tourists... 🤔
Yes indeed! We were a bit dissapointed when we found out about that!
ಹಾಯ್ ನಿಮ್ಮ ವಿಡಿಯೋಗಳು ತುಂಬಾ ಸುಂದರವಾಗಿವೆ ❤️
That wasn’t a wedding, it was funeral procession.

Thank you!
As a Chinese, I think it's rude to take pictures like this! But they are the older generation of Chinese, please understand them, they are very curious about foreigners
We didn't mind haha. It was fun!
As a Chinese I think it is not rude but very friendly. I think spitting in public is actually rude and unsanitary.
that's chinese dime, 10 cents yuan.
Yessss 😊👍🏻
Blind followers mostly put the coin in water tub or lake.
What do you mean?
Interestingly, I think it's usually the men who spit. And tend to be older men. The young ones less so.
yes it is true. A few days ago we were surprised to also see a woman spit haha.
that is not good behavior, but you can’t ask 1.4billion people all behave like angel.I saw lots of times european people spit, germen, french, british, every country has some guys with bad habits.
They should start giving tickets for spitting, seriously. It is a big problem in China.
🌚I don't even know how to spit…
