Logic and creative people seem to have this tendency to flip and mirror stuff the wrong way.... I do it all the time and it always gives me that nice reminder of how smart we really are when we do not think. :)
Your one of the most practical You-tubers i watch always find new ways to restore old things. Thanks for the awesome content that lens made me laugh, i honestly don't mind anything lighting bull crap that others haters hate on. Keep up the good work its always cool to see what your up to. Hope to see the next video soon.
Awesome Job on the set: Always love watching your builds and how you cheaply and effectively reuse/recycle different things to make drums or make accessories.
Man, I appreciate you doing what you do. You have inspired me to do work on some percussion stuff that I haven't had the motivation to do. Thanks for the videos and keep pushing out great quality videos.
I have a suitcase kit... my solution for the handle rattle..... I put my sweat rag through the handle.... It is easy access for when I need it and it stops the rattle. Your mileage may vary!
Wouldn't that be almost too easy? All you'd need is a big birdhouse or a small doghouse and then you just sit down on it and pitter-patter with your hands on its front! 😄
I saw a guy play at the rangers ballpark in dallas with a flight case as his kick, it may have been like an old fiber trunk and that thing sounded huge! I ended up meeting the guy and he said he broke through the 'head' on the suitcase so they ended up mounting on some plexi glass, man that thing sounded bigger than any drumset I've heard
awesome. I didn't know if I would like all of the metal on the bottom, but it turned out great. what's awesome is if the hinges start to fail or make noise you could remove them and put a weld on continuous piano hinge. I'm really looking forward to the next one. Have you heard of anyone using these kits with triggers possibly on the kick?
I tried the pink ball thing in the beginning but really didn't like the tone. I made a beater out of those foam gym mats. I cut three layers of about 1/4" gym mats, made them circular and then stacked them on top of each other. They had a good, wet, "thump" rather than a "thwack" when I'd hit the case. Only bad thing was that I had to replace it every few months, but it sounded great. I love the idea of the steel at the bottom. I wish I'd done that with mine.
place velcro on the handle and the top of the suitcast it can stick to it when u arent using it to carry the thing. I would put the scratchy side of the velcro tape on the suitcase so it doesnt irritate ur hand when u carry it to a gig!
What a fantastic video! I think it's nice that you left the welding mistake in there - could have happened to anyone. You probably made the right choice with sound over looks. I reckon, in addition, the bulge would have interfered with your foot pedal mount / when playing. On that note, have you considered putting some kind of support inside / outside the suitcase where the drum beater sits to prevent against wear? A nice piece of felt would perhaps do the job... Already psyched for your next vid! :D
I believe you've put more into attaching that pedal that any other video on youtube. What do you think about the door hinge approach? I'm agonizing over how to attach it. (I believe I have the same suitcase).
I have made similar drum projects, welded similar projects. You can not know how much i laughed at that "Noooo". How many times in a hurry I have welding things on the wrong side! When I carried my first suitcase kit for the first time, the weight made me wish I'd done things differently, do you now consider your weight/strength choices??? after playing it and carrying it, would you still do it the same???
Wow, pretty cool! I wonder if you have any ideas about a bass drum pedal pad to practice at home (for single and doublepedal). I once tried the Pearl BD-10, but it was unexpectedly loud and the rebound was kinda awkward. Besides that, it moved a lot while playing. Also if anyone has a suggestion in this topic, I'm thankful for any advice :)
Have you tried fixing the bulge in the side? maybe a sandbag or weight on the outside and heatgun on the inside might take care of it? Also nice videos man keep it up!
I'm In the midst of a suitcase drum build, i have a 14.5" floor tom sticking five inches out of the side of the case for a kick-drum(which adds space for a reduced tom in the case), any clue how to get a deeper tone?
Hey man, love your channel! i had a question i was hoping you could help me out on. i bought a double bass pedal from my local music store and i assumed because it was tama that it would be kinda popular. i get home and look it up and i believe i have a tama pro beat hp45tw (i say i believe because theres so little info out there about em). what can you tell me about this pedal, if anything? keep up the good work, man!
+rdavidr lol no worries. just some old discontinued model from the 80s. only problem is im fairly new to drumming so i dont have a reference point to know if theyre decent or noy. i guess ill just play on different ones and see what i like. cheers 🍺
Hey, David, so i saw this PDP 8piece shell pack on ebay with two basses, and like i bought it( there's money back guarrantee so what do i care), like i looked it up and IT usually retails for 1000 but i bought it for 100, did i get scammed lol?
I'd have made it look good... it's a suitcase. It's a novelty. Sounding a little different isn't a big deal. If it was meant to sound good, it'd be an actual drum.
Dude, why don't you look at making a kick-port type thing that you could install right where that bulge is.....that would take care of Mr bulge and give you some extra low end??
Logic and creative people seem to have this tendency to flip and mirror stuff the wrong way.... I do it all the time and it always gives me that nice reminder of how smart we really are when we do not think. :)

I love how incredibly wel made your videos are! As well as how talented you are at doing projects like this!
"I'm gonna do it the way I wanna do it" this is why I love your vids 😂
I'm super stoked to see how this goes this is my favorite project
coming along great! looking forward to the next part.
hey man, you can also use a door hinge mounted on the bottom of the suitcase to attach the pedal. I did and it works great.
Man, I appreciate you doing what you do. You have inspired me to do work on some percussion stuff that I haven't had the motivation to do. Thanks for the videos and keep pushing out great quality videos.

Ever thought about building a Cajon as a project.
*?
That would be pretty cool
+Eli Garcia i'd love to see how it could be done by Mr. David here
Wouldn't that be almost too easy? All you'd need is a big birdhouse or a small doghouse and then you just sit down on it and pitter-patter with your hands on its front! 😄
Awesome job! You made the right choice of sound over looks with the pedal placement. I wish I had the patience to do projects like these. Great job.
Another awesome project! Thanks for sharing with us, Dave!
Cant wait to see next vid! Looking good bro
I love this build going to be shortly starting one myself
man, I've been waiting for the day you peel that blue stuff off the pedal. that was my feel good moment in this video
you're a genius and deserve more subscribers.
i really like your videos and ideas... just started looking for a suitcase to make my own
I saw a guy play at the rangers ballpark in dallas with a flight case as his kick, it may have been like an old fiber trunk and that thing sounded huge! Unobstructed welding please. Tell the viewers to wear sunglasses. I love your work and attitude.
Hi David, love your videos but im just curious as to how you make your unreal music since its so unique. Thanks, Eddie
awesome work man, always the best vids :)

very nice job!
Nice work, couldn't have though you could make a drum with a suitcase
Great Job !

Dude you deserve more subs!!!!!!!
Love your videos man! Also I was wondering if you like cypress hill?
Sounds dope
This is so awesome. Can I ask what you do for a living?
He said he was a music teacher in one video,he may still but i don't know.
+Rabbi Abromowitz-Fenkelstein Thank you for responding...Maybe the man himself can clear this up? haha :)
No Problem.

love your content as always! keep it up!
i have that same suitcase. sweet
you should make a roto tom snare
YES! And then play some Curtis Mayfield covers.
Would you ever do a When The Levee Breaks drum cover?
whattt????..incredible, thatss cool :D nice work :) ...you always make surprise in every videos you make... keep creative broww
I love that Santa song lmao
I love these videos - creative and resourceful. What is not to like?
Yay santa scratch is back😁
Cool name
Any ideas for suitcase pedal mounts that don't involve welding, and mounting medal to the bottom of the suitcase?
What ride are you using in the beginning of the video?
I believe you've put more into attaching that pedal that any other video on youtube. What do you think about the door hinge approach? I'm agonizing over how to attach it. (I believe I have the same suitcase).
For the handle, you could try just taping some velcro to the handle and one side of the case so it just sticks to it
Though might get dirty if you carry it around too much
maybe a leather tiedown strap riveted on to secure the handle might work to prevent it from moving while in use
what's the liquid stuff you're putting on at 4:35?
just oil. it keeps the bit cooler and helps it cut
you could put another mount on the other side of your snare and put an X hat mount for your hi hats
Love it...

I'm a do things my way,
It's my way.
My way or the highway.
xD
You need to post more often

you should get a remote hat to mount to the suit case
Do you have a particular kick pedal you recommend for the lower end side of price?
Have you tried fixing the bulge in the side? maybe a sandbag or weight on the outside and heatgun on the inside might take care of it? Also nice videos man keep it up!
I did the hot glue anti-rattle technique. I wish I had the welding skills, or equipment. I have so many ideas.
Are you going to paint that tom?..
That's so cool rdavidr I'm going to try that thanks for the video new sub :)
What snare are you going to use?
I'm In the midst of a suitcase drum build, i have a 14.5" floor tom sticking five inches out of the side of the case for a kick-drum(which adds space for a reduced tom in the case), any clue how to get a deeper tone?
Why don't you make a Kickport or something like Traps drums?
what was the background song about Santa?
yeah check the description. I made it for a christmas video, but I thought Id use it again lol
He used it when he made the bass drum beater with a Santa hat
Hey man, love your channel! i had a question i was hoping you could help me out on. i bought a double bass pedal from my local music store and i assumed because it was tama that it would be kinda popular. i get home and look it up and i believe i have a tama pro beat hp45tw (i say i believe because theres so little info out there about em). what can you tell me about this pedal, if anything? keep up the good work, man!
never used it, so I got nothin for ya...
+rdavidr lol no worries. just some old discontinued model from the 80s. only problem is im fairly new to drumming so i dont have a reference point to know if theyre decent or noy. i guess ill just play on different ones and see what i like. cheers 🍺
Yakk just use GOOGLE

Cajon or Gigpig would be a good build video.
I know that feeling of when you realize you put something on the wrong side alllll too damn well
You should use an old school lady's hat box for the toms
dave, could you make me a pinky hi-bounce beater? pleeeasee
been there done that. link in the description. AND the beater is shown in this video...
but i dont have tools and things dave!
oh, make YOU one. All you need is a drill. Actually probably not even. just jam a rod in one and glue it up
you cant buy those balls outside of the usa. its ok. i'll figure something out. looking forward to the next video :)
For the handle you could just build a new one out of wood or whatever, and attach it without and hinges or anything so it doesn't move at all.
Nice
what's the point of using a suit case as a bass drum?
Watch the first video where he talks about this. It's actually really cool. He's gonna mount everything to the suitcase
HEAVY METAL COVERS I did watch the first video. I still see no point to it
Lmaoooooo the welding
Santa scratch is bae
make a drum rack for ur toms
You could put stuff in the suitcase if it doesn't weigh enough to hold the snare
Man, there's really something wrong here. . .
I like it!
a double core cardboard box works well for recording as well.
at the end it looks like you painted it gold.
I love editing a la 7:22 😄
rdavidr make a video of a tutorial how to tune like me; for example
use magnets to reduce noise from the handle
A door hinge works awesome for a pedal mount. alot faster too.
Combo this with a O2 tank and Saw blade cymbals, etc. and you got the post apocalyptic drum set.
It'll hardly sound like a pearl masters so the tiny pich in sound won't make a diference
It's a cool project though😊
Omg that peeling
do a Pokémon drum kit
dont use a lense on your phone. use sun glasses. people might just be paranoid that uv rays will come through their screen.
Tell me you are going to take out the fabric. That's part of the bass magic.
...so best to keep watching.
Why would you do this, and not buy a real bass drum?
my way or the highway
I died laughing when you started welding. XD
lol people complain about how bright welding is in the videos? that's one of the worst complaints I've ever heard
I'd have made it look good... it's a suitcase. It's a novelty. Sounding a little different isn't a big deal. If it was meant to sound good, it'd be an actual drum.
make more vids
Dude, why don't you look at making a kick-port type thing that you could install right where that bulge is.....that would take care of Mr bulge and give you some extra low end??
It might give it a better sound
Maybe apply some heat and see if you can fix that bulge in the front.
kinda complicated it into a piece of... something. long on labor, short on elegance style and musicality. i like your channel in general. keep trying!
Christ man love your bids but work on your spray painting technique!
LOL this is
