Deserves a "Damn Expensive Award"...
i am just gonna leave this like here
Not "Damn", DAM (canuck, get it?)
it's DAM as in beaver DAM.

Now they need to create a fully programmable topre 60% RGB keyboard. That would be awesome!
theodoro89 just use hasu controler on hhkb, no nedd for rgb, because its just a gimick you will use for some weeks and them it will just stay off or on one color.
If it has mechanical switches its all pretty much the same, give or take some extra features you may or may not want/use.
Well it doesn't have "mechanical switches" so that's your point out of the window straight away why would you even say that? It's nothing like mechanical keyboards, it's dome with slider.
And all mechanical switches are totally different... compare cherry mx with ALPS.
You're right its just a pretentious keyboard, overcharging you based on little "features" they added to the average keyboard. If you pay that much for a keyboard you are brain dead.
If I don't need the RGB, is the Realforce 87U a good buy?
This version is apparently made quite poorly in comparison to the normal 87U, so I view the RGB version as a terrible value. If you type a lot and want very comfortable switches, then the 87U is definitely a good buy.
In Japan this cost like $200 thou
I would just get the Corsair K95 Platinum
For being a "keyboard nerd" Dmitri seems to have zero knowledge about keyboards.
How so?
@@skycorrigan6511 maybe because topre 45g switches are not linear
@@bananaforscale1445 they are linear. the rubber dome gives it the tactile bump, but otherwise, it is linear 100%
@@MrFreeze79 based on this, every key is linear but the tactile bump is tactile? What are you saying...
This 'keyboard nerd' has no clue what he is talking about its hilarious
@@MrFreeze79 wow you really don’t know too much do you? Shame
Wow, look at all these casuals who don't know anything about topre switches. Maybe you should do some research before you bash something you don't know anything about.
I'm a huge proponent of torpe keyboards and mechanical keyboards altogether, but when you say topre, I think of Leopold or HHKB, not this rgb... thing
EvOLVIEd813 Well, it's not like this is a clone made by a shitty company. This is made by Realforce. Their non-RGB boards are the best Topre boards out there hands down.
I have 2 87U and i love it, not this thing
To be fair, it's their call. I tried a bunch of Topre keyboards when I was in Japan, and I really didn't like the feeling. To each their own.
They feel like rubberdomes... pretty accurate considering they use rubber domes to create the tactile feeling.
I would rather have the 87U if I were to get a Realforce :)
A cheap IBM keyboard will do. No need some bullshit 87u. Have you even worked in an office? LOL blue collar
Lionel Lim I bring my Infinity 60% with 78g Zealios to the office every day fyi. Where I work has nothing to do with the fact, that I would rather have the 87U as opposed to this.
Idef1x Zealios? I'm jealous.
They are quite nice, but also a bit (over?)hyped in the mech community in my opinion. Perhaps some of the other variations are different, but the 78g are not that far from a MX Clear - the spring "pings" a bit less, which is nice. I would still choose the Zealios, but it not something I would go out of my way to get, opposed to Gaterons og Cherry MX.
Idef1x most of the hype is a result of it being an easily availabe 'tuned' switch. Originative MOD switches are probably going to be regarded in the same sense eventually. I have 78g Zealios and I definitely can say they live up to the name of being extremely tactile and satisfying.
So I got the topre, after having used Cherry MX Browns, and Cherry MX Speeds. Topre definitely feels smoother and bouncier than the browns, which I like. The tactile feedback is a lot more noticeable than the browns. I didn't have any trouble getting used to it. The Topre switch is quite nice, and odds are you won't regret the purchase.
Thanks man - this is EXACTLY what I was looking for - straight forward comparison to the browns...
Old comment but I've owned several mechanical keyboards including cherry variations. I found that capacitive switches don't fatigue my fingers are produce a much more pleasant sound over the course of use. After a while the sharp clicky noises get tiresome too.
Topre Keyboard
>RGB
>Full size
This keyboard is a crime
Why would you ever need the numpad?
Some of us use it for spreadsheets, programming - and game macros. I had my entire numpad dedicated to WoW macros back in the day, because they were easy to reach...and I had already bound the entire F row as well as what is now known as the MOBA keys (QWERT etc..)
It's not ergonomic. Personally I have a HHKB with a topre realforce numpad on the right of my mouse area. Any full size keyboard will just put strain on your shoulders.
Why the fuck do people care if it's RGB? If you don't like it, just set it to one color and leave it there. Is it really that hard?
I've been using full size boards for 30 years and my shoulders feel pretty damn good. Don't drink the koolaid kids.
I noticed new rewiev of keyboard from harwarecanucks and I though "maybe finally something affordable"
And then 289$
a7a
A nice keyboard but the price is too steep..
Well I prefer Mx Black or White switches anyways (yes I'm of a rare breed it seems lol)
Not enough spacers on a $300 keyboard..
Thought the same it's not like they're expensive lol
the spacers come with it or do you buy it separately
hahaha... the spacers cost EXTRA, and these days people mod the realforce rgb with hyperspheres.. which are overpriced, but still better than buying the "Type S" topre, which is like $100 more than this keyboard :[
Had this keyboard since its release still 0 issues and best keyboard i owned i use it exclusively for linux terminal work.
How's it holding up? I just bought the ivory pfu limited edition full and I'm very excited
@@skycorrigan6511 still working just a few weeks ago I lubed it and feels even better but still waiting on some silence rings and ordered MATT3O MT3 /DEV/TTY KEYCAP SET as original abs keycaps are already shiny and do not feel too good. I see now they have 65% ones wish I could trade my as I am not the biggest fan of very large keyboards.
Writing this using my IBM model F All hail the capacitive buckling spring
How'd you get the compatibility? The model F doesn't use a PS/2 plug.
You can make the adapter yourself (Soarer's Converter) for about 20 $ or buy one for around 40
All hail the keyboard hipster!
ALL HAIL BUCKLING SPRING!
for the AT models you can just use an adapter and it works fine
would make sense to have 3 different actuation distances if buying 3 keyboards with 3 different switches didn't cost less
And the 3 keyboard would last far longer.
and have keycaps and switches to spare
Toxy Dmitry and everyone else talks about actuation point in length measurement units. does this mean what the keyboard does is not what it says out should do?
Toxy It's a pity I didn't see this in the video
ok im actually wrong I have no idea what the fuck that is Topre normally have 3 different switch weightings but this clearly isn't that , this is 45G on the entire board but you can change the actuation point somehow, good feature but not what is normal for Topre. Oops.
ugh, I hate that it sounds so hollow when typing
Brannan DI but if you post price of hhkb here ppl will definitely say "no arrow keys, number pads, media keys, wrist rest or function keys and it's 250 bucks???" Lol
try one, like @Stefan V mention the 87U and you'll never use other keyboard again
Roger Wang - $289 per Dmitry
Get a leopold
Are you the actor of guardian of galaxy?
this channel should be called keyboard and case reviewer
$300? Nah...
I like the old review style more
Topre is tactile, not linear.
It should really have PBT keycaps at that price. Those are MX compatible sliders, though, which is incredibly nice. Pop on a set by Matt3o and it'll look beautiful.
Made in Japan? Shut up and take my money.
I will Build my House with that Keyboard
Last time I was this early, Razer Blades were cheap. As in never.

Tom Greek well said
I had a privilege to try more or less any available mechanical keyboard while I was in Japan and I can say Topre really is something else (in the most positive way possible). Downside is EU availability and price (you'll buy one that'll be passed on to your kids anyway). It's a proper Japan product; probably the most expensive keyboard you can buy (I don't count even smaller series 'ergonomic' experimental keyboards). Switch is very specific; after actuation you'll hit the spring which is inside rubber coat and the feedback it gives is amazing.
TOPRE IS A TACTILE SWITCH, GET IT RIGHT DMITRY. This is the second time you have said Topre was linear which is clearly untrue. You should know better.
To everyone complaining about the price: the reason is because Topre makes their own exclusive switch for all their keyboards that is meant for enthusiast typists. The quality control is top notch, unlike Cherry clones. However, I would still URGE people to try them out before they buy, rather than buy them just because they are premium. I tried out a bunch of Topre keyboards in Japan, and I was honestly not a fan of the feel. In the end, it is all subjective.
Another advantage of this board is the Cherry MX compatible stems, allowing you to use custom MX key-caps to customize it. It's shame they didn't include programability (macros, hotkeys, layouts) at this price point, given its opensource.
Hearing ALMOST $300 is expensive for a keyboard looking at my $550 full cost of my M8 MkII build which even then isn't that expensive compared to other stand along kits.... my wallets chuckles while trying to hide it's tears
You need to lube that thing up! Topre sounds like rain when it gets lubed up real nice. I have the original Cherry/Topre switch board, the Coolermaster Novatouch TKL.
Does anyone know the difference between this keyboard and the Seasonic Topre REALFORCE RGB AEAX01 USB Wired 108-Key Keyboard. Thank you.
TBH it's not really worth the extra $150 Price Tag for RGB. These switches are 45G (not as good as 55g) and have ABS keycaps. I'd recommend the Topre Realforce (Non RGB) as it's the same without RGB and much better value for money.
Hello, I am 13 years old. I have college level abilities with English language and Maths, doing differential equations and integrals at age 11. I am currently learning vector calculus and topology. I also have a Stanford-Binet IQ of 192 and am fluent in 9 computer languages, and also speak some Mandarin Chinese. I also have Aspergers, ADHD, OCD, and periodic Depression. Despite my perspicuity, there are several vicissitudes impeding my progress, such as that the district will not allow children who were not in it in 5th grade to skip grades except by taking summer courses. Hmmph, guess I'll go to Stanford next year. It's not easy being a genius, in fact, it is harder than being 'normal', so don't feel too bad. Also, for the sake. of being punctilious, nobody's IQ should increase or decrease except for instances of severe damage to the cortical layer of the parietal lobe, because IQ is a scaled score relative to others your age. The variables g, general intelligence, and a, average g for someone of age x can be used in the formula g/a(100)=IQ, so 200/100(100)=200, but 50/25(100) also = 200 It is also true that Albert Einstein never was administered an IQ test, but most experts concur that his IQ was ~150-170.
I wonder if any of the "oh-no-it's-a-overpriced-300-dollar-keyboard-that-looks-like-a-5-dollar" comments are Apple fans? Because that's what I feel about Apple products. And your responses by them would probably very similar to the reasons why this keyboard is expensive
Tesoro Slim is way better!
We've just entered the realm of stupid and expensive....... But whatever floats your boat. I just love my Corsair K70
Everything fine except the software, which works randomly. Many claims it doesn't start. I personally tried on 3 different Win pro platforms, 7 or 10, eng or localised no matter, it doesn't work. Topre support doesn't exist. Would expect more for the price.
MX Reds are for plebs. Lol JK, but Topre and MX Clears are, IMO, the best for typing and I find them great switches for gaming. Even though people think that lighter means faster, it also means more accidental keypresses and slamming your fingers against the chassis rather than a cushion. Ergonomically speaking, slamming your fingers down while typing on reds will cause more fatigue than you think.
$289 and not enough foam pads to actuate the entire keyboard? LOL... no way, not even close to being worth it... and it sounds AWFUL! /pass
The whole point of a review is for the reviewer to go over the points of the product for the viewing audience. Us the audience then has become a little more informed about the product and will always form initial opinions about that product. I know nothing about Topre, I won't even pretend I do. However I still have an opinion based on what I've seen in this video. 1) it looks a very nice board. 2) they obviously put in extra work to make their product unique; to that extent I agree that it is. 3) Pay attention class, "In my opinion" I can't see myself paying $300 USD for a keyboard, but...I would never slam someone else who would. We all have the ability to do what we want for ourselves, that is a beautiful thing.
Lastly why is it human nature to attempt to convene the rest of humanity to like what you like, and curse them if they don't!???
the king of keyboards is an IBM beamspring, and prince model f 4704 (which are being remade with a hefty price tag) and the heir Model m. Topre is. very nice, but it is still a dome, but better than Cherry, but never near the state of king.
To all the normies, the keyboard costs a lot because of the switches. Topres are a lot better than Cherry switches for typing, but also more expensive. But complaining about the price and comparing it to other products you can get for the price is straight up dumb. Let me just replace the keyboard part with cars and show you how idiotic that sounds: "$150.000 for a McLaren? I could buy a boat for that price. The Volkswagen Golf only costs $750."
people that is bashing this keyboard, remember this is fucking ENTHUSIAST keyboard. of course it is expensive.
I would totally fucking buy this shit if it was in tenkeyless or 60%
Okay people don't freak out this is for ENTHUSIASTS not for normal people. Topre is special.
Of all the keyboards in this upper price bracket (e.g. Ducky) they all keep branding off the front face. That logo print in the top right would put that kind of market off. Just doesn't fit. Don't put RGB in the pitch, if you are forcing people to look at red print.
$250. No thanks. Not even close to being worth it. I'll give you a thumbs up when you review a product real people can afford.
Oi, Canucks, you alright there, ay? It's like ya making advertisement videos - I am still waiting for what makes this a good keyboard for the price
the prices of recent mechanical keyboards are ridiculous, i bet they are making like 10 times the profit than what it cost to manufacture one of those keyboards, it is just plastic aluminum and LEDs, what a ripoff!
Another LunaPark of a keyboard! For crying out loud is the G810 the only keyboard that lights up only the symbol on the key cap and not the entire area around it???
Nah...
for me, no keyboard is worth over $100. But then again the most expensive Keyboard I got is a $50 Logitech so it's prob not marketed towards me
The build quality on the RGB version is much worse - the normal version is a better keyboard. But no RGB so gamers won't throw money at it.
The software really sucks for such an expensive board. Should I not be able to map my own keys? Can't even map the app keys to the programs I use.
Why is there no Keyboard Playlist on your channel?
And can you consider changeing your profile picture? It doesnt suit with the looks in your videos.
It doesn't sound that great. Kind of noisy to be honest.
Yeah, the Realforce RGB is apparently the worst Topre board. There are much better ones out there, such as the 87U.
I Will get this Keyboard when i get money! it really cool Dome with Slider Keyboard better than Dell Keyboard and RE/\LForce also Made in Japan Other made in China.
$250+ premium keyboard with NO WRISTREST? Come on, that should've been a standard by now
If there is any keyboard worth 300 dollars, this is it.
But I don't think any keyboard is worth that much.
While the lighting is nice and the ability to alter actuation points is cool as hell, the case looks incredibly cheap, and ONLY fullsize? cmon.
i have a mechanical eagle keyboard. rgb lighting ugly font keycaps metal body and fake blue switches. 50 bucks
So with the spacers in the keypresses landing will land "softly" ?....looks like it, i would absolutly hate that, no thx.
Lol this keyboard is almost as expensive as my computer... (I built it myself with second hand parts)
Topre is like paying as ass ton to get into an art gallery and someone's shitting on the floor then trying to pass it off as high concept finger painting: you payed a lot to touch shit. Here's to hoping that you can still afford the face paint and oversized shoes for the rest of your clown suit. Whoop whoop.
So, this keyboard has some extra features, but also a lot of issues. I guess this just shows what probable sponsors do to 'review' channels.
Per-key variable activation force...a solution in search of a problem.
Anyone figured a way to install the software for MAC OS use?
wonder wtf....makes somebody a f**king keyboard enthusiast...?
did he just say je wanted an ARM REST? with a keyboard. man that's asking too much. :))
Topre actually feels nice... try them before you bash em pls
plus its made in japan :3
I spent 30 bucks on a Chinese gaming keyboard and I'm happy with it. If I bought this I'd be so sad
If you want a real mechanical feeling keyboard, don't get this piece of mushy shit.
I think everyone will agree on this, that keyboard costs an arm and a leg. No thanks, but nice review.
another keyboard product sucking people's pockets
it's just some RGB buttons
Is this compatible with MacOS? As in the software to control the RGB?
holy shit 250$ meanwhile im sitting with a 7750 and need a new gpu,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
if it was 60% it would be an automatic purchase for me
Are there any gaming keyboards that are quiet and shallower keys? They all seem to be deep/loud keys
Price is way too high.. I'd rather buy a corsair 795 plat and get all the other perks
Sadly, this Topre RGB keyboard does not feel or sound as nice as other Topre keyboards. Something is different about it and it's not good. The new case flexes more and feels flimsy. The keys make an unpleasant higher pitched noise and don't feel as nice as other Topre keyboards. The RGB software is very limited. The keycaps that come with the keyboard are ABS instead of PBT which is a disgrace considering the price. The font on the keys suck. The case looks out of date with the sharp 90 degree angle corners. They have that out of place, ugly, and fingerprint attracting glossy black part in the top right corner of the board.
For the price, it should have a metal case and an attachable wristrest. Preferably magnetically attaching. It should also have a detachable braided USB cable. I also personally wish Topre would make their keyboards at least IP54 dust and water resistant.
Yeah, this was Topre's effort to get into the gaming market where sadly overrated brands like corsair and cherry are very loved. But it isn't where topre should try to compete, unless they are willing to bring down their price. Because otherwise, their better off staying in the typing and mechanical keyboard enthusiast market.
Wonder how badly the view stats drop off after stating the $300 price tag
300$ with no PBT doubleshot caps, no wrist-wrest, gr8
i like how everybody drops a few hundred dollars on keyboards that light up funny
Hey dmitry, i wonder can human still live with one testicle? cause i am out of kidney
looks like using the spacers seriously fucks with the lighting. for the price, not work it.
This keyboard is more expensive than my PC. Such a shame.
has a "keyboard problem"
all of then are stock out of the box rofl, yeah thats a problem
You really have to be a keyboard junkie to spend almost 300 in a keyboard.
Silenced, lubed, with thick pbt keycaps. ++ way better
looks pretty basic for 300 dollars, no dedicate media keys even...
u wanna hook me up with this keyboard fam?
I've been waiting for exactly this for years now! I thought Topre (Realforce) were one of those mainly B2B companies that release a few consumer products that they never (need to) update. Hell, I'm pretty sure Realforce keyboards became harder to find in recent years.
I think their loyal cult following ensures that there will always be a way to purchase or find one.
In what universe is this mediocre product worth $300?
I like it, now make it about $200 cheaper and I'll get one.
I call it a keyboard fetish. And I like it.
Ans its okay😎😎
this guy's review style is like if linus tech tips and austin evans had a baby.
