      I felt the same way. Couldn't believe I never saw it in a theater, IMAX, or super wide 70 curved screen, 3D. Actually, I was hospitalized last Jan and there's where I first watched it.
      Since, I've watched it several times and still discovering new elements of the film that blow me away. A magnificent film indeed, and to cap this off, very underrated and misjudged.

      Totally agree; most critics call it derivative cause it took a bunch of things from other movies, then used it to make a unigue concept: we thought we won the war but we didn't and out their our species is slowly being killed off until the Tet has all the power it needs, then will go and do it again to another world. Let all to die. I have never seen a movie like it; I consider only The Terminator and Star Wars Episode 4 more enjoyable than this classic.

    A simple story:
    The Tet is an alien pyramidal artificial intelligent machine. It's mission go to planet to planet living or non-living consuming every last natural resources. Sixty years ago the Tet arrived on Earth and staying on orbit examining human civilization. Three U.S. astronauts went up to space to recon the Tet or try to communicate. The Tet saw the spaceship and uses its tractor beam to lure the astronauts in its ship. One of those astronauts was Jack Harper. The Tet use Jack and the female astronaut's DNA to produce a mighty army of clones to seek and destroy anything that moves. The Tet machines kill the three original human astronauts. The Tet uses its powerful weapon to blow up the moon into thousands of pieces. This cause the Earth to develop earthquakes, global volcanism and disturb its atmosphere. Mankind were in panic. Over 3 billion people died. After the quakes other global disasters, Tet start the invasion. It brought trillions and trillions of cloned Jack Harper soldiers trained hunt and kill without mercy. Another 3.8 billion survivors died. The remaining survivors went to hiding. The Tet start to use Jack Harper and female clones with other machines to collect Earth's resources. Once Earth becomes a dead planet, the Tet leaves taking everyhing with it.

    • @random3857
      @random3857 7 лет назад +61

      Not Three astronauts but 13 (ish) with two awake to Control the ship. | And we don't know what happened to the original Jack Harper and Victoria. Maybe they where kept alive to have their DNA stored, creating clones from clones isn't perfect. | The Moon was probably blown up into something Close to billions if not trillions of pieces. | I doubt it brought trillions of cloned Jack Harpers, way to many. It'd serve no use. Freeman's character in the Movie said he saw 'thousands'' exit from drop ships or a single drop ship. |

    • @franciscomoutinho1
      @franciscomoutinho1 7 лет назад +8

      Why blow up the moon? Just seems overkill from a story and motive wise. They could have just farmed the ice in it.

    • @random3857
      @random3857 7 лет назад +36

      franciscomoutinho1.. There is no ice in the moon, it is a dead rock. Even if there was.. They'd have to mine to get it and refine it to get only the ice and not residual rocks then heat it and process it. A waste of energy. Much more efficient to target a planet filled with water. And blowing up Earth's moon is a logical way to kill Humanity. Life as we know it can not exists without our moon due to the Earth's wobbly nature, maybe read up on it Before commenting.

    • @steinal1169
      @steinal1169 7 лет назад +4

      Not when you consider using simple biological warfare.

    • @franciscomoutinho1
      @franciscomoutinho1 7 лет назад +11

      +h5 " In November 2009, NASA re-confirmed water on moon with its LCROSS space probe which detected a significant amount of hydroxyl group in the material thrown up from a south polar crater by an impactor"" , emphasis on RE-CONFIRMED.
      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lunar_water
      ... maybe read up on it Before commenting, or just not comment at all until you fix your attitude.
      ...the part of life not existing without the moon's granting Earth's "wobbly nature", in circumstances where small variations of gravity are a not relevant, life still exists. It would mostly affect tides, not even near the cataclysmic effect described in the movie that would kill half the earth's population.
      In fact, for a fraction of what it costs to blow up the moon, using a part of the same energy on earth, or simply diverting a large enough asteroid or several would be far more efficient.

    This movie didn’t do that well. But is had a lot of interesting ideas. For example the technology is pretty cool, the plot is relatively descent, and the setting was beautiful. They should make a TV about what happened before Jack Harper Tech-49
