- In this video I give you 6 reasons why you should buy a Panasonic G6 for Vlogging or as camera for making RUclips videos. As its right now very affordable ,especially looking for a camera that does 1080 50/60p, buying it 2nd hand used, you can find it for less than 200 buck. Its also nice and compact being a M4/3 camera and great compact wide angle lens, while with DSLR would end up with a quite large lens and a much heavier setup. The Panasonic G6 also got a nice flip out screen to view when filming yourself, which if you look at other cams with the same price range you only end up with a larger DSLR from Canon or Nikon. Also the Panasonic G6 got a 3.5mm mic jack and a good pre-amp combined with a Rode Videomicro you can get proper audio out of this camera which is quite important for RUclips or Vlogging. Image quality of the Panasonic G6 is actually really good for such an affordable camera as it got quite the sharp 1080p which scaled up 200% it still looks nice and sharp then compared to a Canon DSLR 1080p footage. Overall the Panasonic G6 is packed full with a lot of features which a lot of the camera's around the same price would need to hack or pay extra to unlock the features. And if you are afraid that the G6 would not focus well, from my experience you just need to set it to AF-s and 1 Area focus and it will do the job well.

I have to say, this is the perfect video, exactly what I’ve been looking for! I’ve watched quite a few G6 videos, as I’m upgrading from my G3. All other videos left a question or two I have not answered, but you have explained everything vital to whether to choose this camera. I was wavering, but decision finally made, I’m going to get a G6! Thank you so much, subscribed 🙏
You forgot to tell the G6 has almost no moiré effect comparing to Canon DSLR. I made a few test videos myself with the G6 and posted them on my channel. I compared it to Canon DSLR and you can see how better the image quality is. I also made video tests to find out the ISO that gives you the smallest amount of noise. Some say it's 640, I would say 800. The G6 is also not that bad at in low light. With a speedbooster and a fast vintage lens, you can reach insane low fstops and capture decent footage in low light at 800 or 1600 ISO.
They're pretty hard to find right now for 2020. Thank you for sharing your video. And your presentation was great. All right now have the G7. And really enjoying it. Thank you. Again. My friend keep up the good work. Keep us informed on what's coming out next. Thank you again.
Great video, just purchased the camera at an auction and I was considering the Go pro hero 7 black for vlogging, but after having a good play with the G6, I'm now saving my £340 pounds for something else. Great camera and much lighter than my G80, just the job.
I still have a gh2 just for its unlimited recording time. very useful for wedding, event, conference, show type of shooting.
I got an Asian G6 which got unlimited recording on AVCHD only mp4 are limited to 20min.
Loved you in Hangover movies ....
i was thinking about a G7 but,,, the G6 is really good
Yup, if you don't need 4k then G6 is already very good.
Wow! I never knew of that mic input location!! Too bad Panasonic didn't incorporate that input location into all of it's new designs! AH!
Nice video!
Very clear!
Do you know if the G6 is able to provide Clean hdmi output?
Thanks!
For live streaming noo, it does not work
i really like thsi video i never see you before and i love your way of explain things thank u for your help, and i m you new follower or fan or whatever this is on youtube , thanks again and i will keep my eye on you
Do you got any links where I can watch the videos you made with this camera??
I agree this is an awesome camera for the price. I have a bundle of vintage lenses that work very well with it especially the SMC 50 mm Takumars f2 (cheap) or f1.4 if you can get it (not so cheap)
Color profile. I know it been a long time but what con, sharpness, noise reduction, sat and what color profile did you use
Standard with contrast set to lowest setting
Hi, what wide converter you are using?
good work, and I agree
Please does the GX7 have better video quality than G6 ?
hard for me to choose. I don't need 4K, just crisp, detailed Full HD for short films and documentaries.
I would go for G7 with 4k , having 4k you can reframe shots if needed in the edit
Goed nieuws want ik heb net een G6 op mp gekocht :)
(upgrade van de G3)
Thanks super informative good day!

Good review
Hey man do you have any issues getting the hdmi port working with an external monitor?
Same question...
Hey, live pictures on external devices are not possible
I have to use nfc
Thank you so much, just bought one!
how do you find it for video recording, especially if u use on a gimbal
What settings do you recommend using to shoot videos with the G6?
I prefer using standard with contrast set all the way down, get really nice colors for direct output
@@chungdha Thanks for responding. When you say your contrast is set all the way down, is that set to -5?
@@howieyoungmedia7139 yes -5 You get pretty good dynamic range with it and good colors and its not overly flushed out and look really good for direct use, which is the setting I used to make this video.
Have you ever tried to usemetabones speedbooster withit?
Hey Chung, do you know, how to set up the G6 for live-streaming? Is it possible?
it is possible get clean hdmi feed i remember but need extra device like atem mini to get signal to computer.
So, this is a reloaded video? The title says 6 reasons to buy Panasonic G6 in 2019, but I see that there are posts from 2 years ago. Anyway, I love my G6. If I need 4k, I can use my GX80, and I've never used it, Don't want to deal with upgrading my computer and buying expensive video programmes. So, the G6 works great for me.
Still good camera in 2019 if not need 4k, because still online most still look at 1080p
Do you know if this camera will work through a video capture device or elgato camlink for livestream ?
Sadly no tried it and nothing happened
How is the Image stabilization on that camera? I think that's a really important feature for handheld vlogging.
Gear Jones doesnt matter at these price class all cams dont have in body IS and only lenses.
I find it really hard to find a reasonable deal for this camera let alone 200$
Right now mid summer is a difficult time to get a lot of 2nd hand cams as plenty being bought up. You should search close to the end of summer when people return from their vacation will often get more flooded by tons of 2nd hands cams and become really low in prices.
chungdha Thanks for replying. Do you know any other 2nd hand camera websites other than amazon or ebay?
Best to search local website each country got its own 2nd hand market websites.
@@chungdha that's an excellent tip
Please, help me out. It says on the camera 1080p with 50fps ( 2:47 ), but when I google "PANASONIC LUMIX DMC G6" on internet, some websites says it's 60 fps?
Depends where in the world you buy it, buy there is a button hack to convert between 50 to 60p
You have to change the from pal (50fps) to ntsc (60fps).
What camera did you use to shoot your b roll?
Filmed using Panasonic G7 to film the G6
Can I use this camera with a blackmini design ultra studio encoder for short livestream sessions?
Da Ren should be but cannot record video while doing so though.
thank you! After the livestream ends it saves the record
chungdha
How is the lens range for this.....Does it have like a good set of lens or is it a small amount......
Right now tons of lenses available and via adapters can get even more
hey bro! where did u bought ur panasonic g6? any recommendation? i cant find it anymore online :( . I live in dubai for now.
Dubizil have it 650
Can you get Clean HDMI out from this camera? I just want to use it for streaming. I do not want to record what I stream on the camera itself.
DID YOU FIND OUT IF THIS IS POSSIBLE? I HAVE THE SAME QUESTION
THANKS
@@lovebeingawake8549 IT IS NOT POSSIBLE.
@@ionutcrava thanks :)
I had a copy of G6 and I did not like it. I would better recommend to buy G7 or my best recommendation would be G80 or (if you can afford it) G90. That are almost in the professional category.
G6 and G7 when only use 1080p about the same especially not everyone have need for 4k nor have the extra money for a computer to edit 4k.
#chungdha Can you please share the link to lower price for the camera itself ? It will be very beneficial.
Which is better gh3 vs g6? I'm just wondering
Price and specs G6 is better with focus peaking and cheaper and good video. GH3 only got more flatter profile with Cinelike D and headphone jack and longer batterylife which arent so important, but G6 can buy two off for the same price of one GH3.
How does it compare to the G7 if you don't care about 4K?
eidetic.nz if dont care for 4k, G6 is enough unless you film really dark places ISO on G7 is improved and also for grading G7 got more flat profile. But if not care about grading and want to have good straight of the cam G6 is enough
Thanks . I am hunting one of these in UK. Need a versatile camera, which does everything.
On a budget !!!!
Hey! Did you use an nd filter for this vlog?
No ND filter the wide angle adapter on the 14mm f2.5 does not have a filter thread for it.
chungdha this looks so nicely exposed. What were your settings? I have a G6 too but somehow it's always over exposed.
Color profile I used standard with -5 contrast and I use the histogram to show the exposure, if it is green it be exposed correctly. Also turn on highlight which show if some areas is overblown by flickering from white to black, I try to minimize having too much of that.
chungdha Thank you!
Which wide angle adapter are you using?
added link to it in the description
What would you (or anyone else) suggest for a 4K camera for someone who's starting out?
Square Kiwi you don't need one. Why 4k?
+Square Kiwi get the newer version Panasonic G7 which does cost double of this camera, but does improve iso and got cinelike D for s more flatter color.
+Ell with 4k you get more versatility especially if you want to do a vertigo effect you can do the zoom in post without loosing detail.
For 4K you’ll need a powerful pc
Better than the GH3?
Ti To no, but a bit the same, the GH3 has some little functions that are nice but nothing to special.
Gh3 is very good too :)
Where can i buy it?
What’s the cheapest lens for this camera?Looking around £50-80 because with have to spend all my money to get the actual camera
look for fujian lenses, they are like 20-30bucks each get the 25mm f1.4 and 50mm f1.4 and get you nice range to use
chungdha are they wife angle lenses?
Wide angles are not cheap either buy the kitlens or the 14mm f2.5 2nd hand. But for more ultra wide lenses they be more expensive than that.
You can find a very chep 8mm F3.8 Fish eye Lens for Micro 4/3 on ebay for around 60 usd. Its a no-name lens
is there a recording limit
depends where you purchase it, Asian version does not have record limit when recording in AVCHD.
Does this camera have clean hdmi
yes, but cannot record in camera and external at same time.
hey is lumix g6 have image stabilization
No ibis but have lenses with IS
Is 4k enough to switch?
It depends on your wants. I think the biggest reason to switch is image stabilization if you vlog. Look at the shake in this video. The image quality is excellent, the shake is not the worst, but still "low rent." The G85 and the G9 are soooo much better.
wish can find a wide angle lens has OIS
12-35mm f2.8 I think is widest with OIS
Otherwise is 14-45mm IOS kitlens adding wide angle adapter.

It's 09/2019, the cheapest price I can find is $250USD, and it's not even in good condition.
Does this do 1080p 60fps?
yes
Come over to the sony a7sii
Can it record 1080 full HD 60fps?
Yes, American NTSC version can do that, PAL version there is a button hack to unlock 60p.
Hey Brother I am in India and I want for shooting music videos it will be suitable
Yes still many music video are 1080p and get great result and can do slomo 1080p shots with 50p/60p
One More Question Brother As I am in India So Canon And Nikon are the two brand are mainly found why as Panasonic is cheap and good
how about the g7
G7 is great also, but if you are on a tight budget and also 4k doesn't matter the G6 used is a lot cheaper.
i may upgrade to the g7 because im currently using the eos 600d
did u upgrade?
k
right here cost 700$ :'(
The 200$ price is for a used G6 and without lens...
this camera would make a lot of sense if you couldn't get a used G7 for $450-$500, but you can. So, I'm not sure why you wouldn't. :D
A GX85/80 is not too bad either, and you get sensor stabilization. Though, yeah, that's more of a documentary style shooter device, there's no forward facing screen, no mic in, no Cinelike profiles, etc I guess. Then again, if they aren't using a Sony A7RII etc vloggers are all using a Canon G7X II these days. It's compact 'n light, appealing colors without the need of tweaking. 1080p makes it a breeze to edit. Pretty smooth autofocus. Means: quick turnarounds.
Well, that's twice the price. That can make a lot of sense.
haha
not interesting without 4k THE G80 its better and with 4k and less expensive than this shit with stabilisation
