Thanks for the tips! I would still use Cine-D in the day since noise is not an issue to get the most dynamic range. @@GlenReed Thank you. If you have the time could you let me know what use case during that footage did you give for these two? Is the second one more for moving shots and darker environments?
Honestly, I don’t really remember which I used for each shot, I just know those were the two I used. The 12-60mm was used the majority of the time as it gives me the widest shots of the two. I like the 25mm but wide open it can be a little unforgiving when it comes to setting focus as the focus plain Is razor thin with not much fall off, so I will tend to use it for shots that I really need close up with more shallow depth of field. In theory the wider the focal length the more things will be in “focus”. However what allows more of the frame to be in focus has to do with the the aperture. The higher the aperture/f stop the deeper the depth of field. Think of focal length as wide vs narrow 25mm is wider and 40mm is more narrow and zoomed in. Hope this helps.
@@GlenReed Thanks. I may get my head around it soon! I've just bought the 12-32mm, 3.5 f stop. I hope it will be good for 4k landscape filming, but also give me the versatility of other types of filming too!
Not sure if you are using the kit lens which goes fairly wide. If you are, then you would need to go with something like a fisheye lens to get wider amzn.to/2KbpKL1 this a manual lens though. If you are not this lens is a decent inexpensive lens that has better low light amzn.to/3oZviqP . If you need a zoom this one is a bit more expensive but is a really good lens that is also better in low light than the kit lens amzn.to/37j7M1U Hope this helps!
Hello, although typically you’d use more traditional cinema cameras for feature films people have filmed movies on iPhones. Really it all comes down to the camera being able to capture the image the way the filmmaker intended. On a side note, if you are planning a feature film and have limited budget, I’d personally recommend the BlackMagic Pocket 4k. The pocket 4k with shoot in raw and give you much more flexibility during the editing process. Hope this helps.
Check and make sure you have more storage on your SD card. The limit is only for 4k and will still be limited to the amount of storage you have remaining. Hope this helps.
I believe the camera is the same both UK and Ireland versions but they have different lens options between the two. Hope this answers your question. Thanks for watching.
Great video, do you have anything on editing after talking footage on the Lumix g7? What the best editing software for beginners ? I'm making an online floristry course so I need to brand it and be able to make it look professional thanks
I’m actually considering doing a editing/color grading video for the G7 and G85. Thanks for letting me know this is of interest to you. I personally use mainly Davinci Resolve Studio but I also use Final Cut Pro, in my opinion these are fantastic editing platforms. Davinci is a little more complex, but they do offer a free version and a free training course that covers everything the software has to offer. Final Cut is a bit simpler but is also a bit limited in comparison. Thanks for watching!
Glen thank you for showing how to unlock the record time limit on the Panasonic G7. I shall try this with the Panasonic S5 when I eventually purchase it and when it's in the 4K 10 bit mode hopefully it will work. How did you find out how to unlock the 30 minute recording time limit on the Panasonic G7.
The S5 is an awesome camera! I don’t remember off hand how I found the record limit unlock since it’s been a few years now, I think I may have found some leaked info on a website somewhere (I’m totally not smart enough to figure it out on my own 😊). It will likely not work with the S5 since they are totally different cameras, but it’s worth the try. Thanks for watching!
Glen you never know. It might work then hey presto it will mean the Panasonic S5 is cheaper than the Panasonic S1 brand new and it can have unlimited recording in both 8 bit and 10 bit 4K.
How you get the camera to have a good stabilization because I can't FIGUER it out what you do to get that smooth filming.is there a lense that I can buy that has stabilization? Hope to hear from you
The shots were done of a tripod or gimbal. In order to get more stable handheld shots try rigging the camera out to be a bit heavier, this will give you less micro jitters. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
Hi glen thanks for this tutorial, I did all of the things. A question about photostyle; It just simply isn't an available option on my G7, running firmware 2.2 and purchased in 2018. I'm late to the party and think that I missed something.
Your very welcome! The Cine D style is only available in the movie mode. Sometimes people mistakenly put the mode dial toward the power switch instead of the marking on the other side of the dial. This may solve your problem. Hope this helps, thanks for watching!
I'd say probably once I can I'll get the g9 and maybe pair it up with the gh5s. The g9 is the perfect photography camera but the video is also insane and the gh5s is a perfect video camera that's great in low light even if you'd like to take photos with it. Seems like a great match. I'd go with the g9 first though because it's not as expensive and I'm not to crazy on video.
The G9 is an awesome camera and is very capable in video as well. But looks like they will be introducing a couple new m4/3 cameras in a few days. This will probably lower the prices of the GH5S and G9.
@@GlenReed that's great. And I'm waiting for pentax's new dslr to drop a bit. Once the newer cameras have a bit of a price drop it'll be easier to get my hands on em.
So question what is the best settings to keep the camera focus on you without it autofocusing off me when I'm doing a video I'm having this issue it's not staying focused on me and more the background I have it on AF mode
Ok, so I checked out your channel (and subscribed 😉). I see that you are doing a lot of sit-down talking videos like I do. I would suggest to use manual focus and then once you're ready to record use the app to set focus on yourself and then it wont change focus on you. Hope this helps!
Hello great video. I bought a Panasonic Lumix G7 to record my sons football games but I followed all your steps but my camera doesnt have the cinelikeD Option to record. it has everything else. Is there a way to unlock the cinelike D or if not which 1 do i use to record games (standard) ?
Hey! Very cool! Make sure you are in movie mode. CinelikeD will not show up if you are in photo mode. Very common mistake. It’s available by default. Thanks for watching!
I use these setting for just about everything I film with the G7. Also I have plans for a behind the scenes music video shoot. Here is an example of a music video I filmed ruclips.net/video/POU4fJ6FTf4/видео.html
What are the best settings for livestreaming? I am planning on sending the hdmi feed out into an ATEM mini pro for livestreaming, so there will be no post processing.
If you want more of a live feel I would just use 4K 30p Standard profile with a clean feed out of the HDMI. This would give you the sharpest looking image and the ATEM will handle the down sampling to 1080p.
The cinematic settings will work with all Panasonic cameras. However I believe the record unlock is different for each camera. If you try and it works please let us know. Thanks for watching!
Hi! very good video and thanks for the information. One question, do you know if I can somehow connect a video monitor to the G7? I've seen that I can't, that's why I ask. Is there a way? Greetings!
The only way to use an external monitor is to use one that is also a recorder, something like the Atomos ninja v. You need to record externally because once you hit record on the camera it cuts the feed to the hdmi. Hope this answers your question. Thanks for watching!
Yes, that was the problem, but now the picture is too dark unless I select a very high ISO value. There are so many settings that confuse someone like me that is not an expert...
Nope! You can leave it unlocked as long as you want. I basically just gave instructions on how to reset it just in case people didn’t like the warning ⚠️ symbol. Thanks for watching!
Hey Glen great video man, I have a couple of questions. One is how do you choose 100 iso with Lumix g7, I read in the manual that you have the option of extending iso, but that option my camera is grey so I can't choose it. there is something you need to do get that which I don't know now. My other question when you upload your footage to Davinci in what color science do you use in color managment for Lumix G7 when shooting in Cinelike D? There is only a Panasonic V Gamut/V-log there or choosing rec709 is better?
Thanks! I believe the extended iso feature is only available in photo mode. But I don’t really use the extended features as it’s artificial and can cause other problems. Really it’s only good for lowering exposure when you don’t have and filter handy in my opinion. As for Davinci Reaolve, just the default of Rec.709 is all you need. V Gamut/V-log are for cameras that use a log profile to increase dynamic range which the G7 does not. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
Thanks! At the moment I don’t think you can transfer large files like 4K using the app. If you need to use your phone I would suggest buying a SD card reader that will fit you phone to transfer, plus it will be much faster than using the app. Hope this helps, thanks for watching!

That’s a good focal range and should allow to cover a lot of different scenarios.
great video Thanks
Your very welcome. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for this! Can you recommend a good wide angle lens for this camera?
You’re very welcome! Are you looking for a prime or zoom lens?
@@GlenReed honestly I’m not sure. I just need to fit more in my screen while recording. What do you think....?
Not sure if you are using the kit lens which goes fairly wide. If you are, then you would need to go with something like a fisheye lens to get wider amzn.to/2KbpKL1 this a manual lens though. If you are not this lens is a decent inexpensive lens that has better low light amzn.to/3oZviqP . If you need a zoom this one is a bit more expensive but is a really good lens that is also better in low light than the kit lens amzn.to/37j7M1U Hope this helps!
@@GlenReed thanks so much friend, I really appreciate this🙏🏾
No problem 😉
Hello sir,
Can we use for feature film G7 Lumix camera.?
I mean for big film
72 mm screen ?
Hello, although typically you’d use more traditional cinema cameras for feature films people have filmed movies on iPhones. Really it all comes down to the camera being able to capture the image the way the filmmaker intended.
On a side note, if you are planning a feature film and have limited budget, I’d personally recommend the BlackMagic Pocket 4k. The pocket 4k with shoot in raw and give you much more flexibility during the editing process. Hope this helps.
@@GlenReed thank you very much for your valuable advice.
@SRKJollywoodfilms-vi2ub No problem 😉 thanks for watching!
Hello dude. Great video but the record limit still is present. It switched to 30fps but record limit was still there?????
Check and make sure you have more storage on your SD card. The limit is only for 4k and will still be limited to the amount of storage you have remaining. Hope this helps.
I see some g7M or g7H is there a difference between them ?
I believe the camera is the same both UK and Ireland versions but they have different lens options between the two. Hope this answers your question. Thanks for watching.
Great video! However, I tried it and it split the videos into 6 minute chunks with a slight jump in the audio between the clips. Anyway to fix this?
Unfortunately the camera will always record in chunks due to the hardware limitations 😔. However I’ve never had any audio jumps 🤔
Let me know if it works out for you.
@@GlenReed Glen I shall let you know if it does ok. You be safe and spirited and happy and focused ok. PEACE
Oh ok thank you somuch
Have a great holiday🎄🎅😉🎆🎇🥂🗽
Hi glen thanks for this tutorial, I did all of the things. A question about photostyle; It just simply isn't an available option on my G7, running firmware 2.2 and purchased in 2018. I'm late to the party and think that I missed something.
Your very welcome! The Cine D style is only available in the movie mode. Sometimes people mistakenly put the mode dial toward the power switch instead of the marking on the other side of the dial. This may solve your problem. Hope this helps, thanks for watching!
ill sub and like I have this camera I do have questing. Thanks for the tips
Thanks for the support 😎
You and me both! There are a few cameras I’d like to buy but it looks like prices are just going up with each new camera 😔
So question what is the best settings to keep the camera focus on you without it autofocusing off me when I'm doing a video I'm having this issue it's not staying focused on me and more the background I have it on AF mode
Great question! Are you staying mainly in the same spot or are you moving around a lot?
Ok, so I checked out your channel (and subscribed 😉). I see that you are doing a lot of sit-down talking videos like I do. I would suggest to use manual focus and then once you're ready to record use the app to set focus on yourself and then it wont change focus on you. Hope this helps!
any idea how to remove the limit on a g100?
Sorry I do not know 😔
@@GlenReed Found a way to do it, will record a tutorial and ill share it once its done.
Would u use this same settings 4 a music video? If not can u make a video for music video setting ??
I use these setting for just about everything I film with the G7. Also I have plans for a behind the scenes music video shoot. Here is an example of a music video I filmed ruclips.net/video/POU4fJ6FTf4/видео.html
I love these shoots more then other peoples settings ive seen im perfect it n use it on my video ima checm it out thank u so much 💯💯🙏🙏🙏
Your very welcome! Glad I could help 🙂
nice video im looking for a good 4k camera
Thanks! If this camera fits your budget it’s a great camera. The G85 is great too which I also did a review of if you are interested.
@@GlenReed let me check it out I'm needing a good 4k camera people see my camera& say you ant shooting 4K with that Nikon D5600
same applies to the G85 also?
The settings are the same, but the unlock is only for the G7. Thanks for watching!
what about using AVCHD ?
What are the best settings for livestreaming?
I am planning on sending the hdmi feed out into an ATEM mini pro for livestreaming, so there will be no post processing.
If you want more of a live feel I would just use 4K 30p Standard profile with a clean feed out of the HDMI. This would give you the sharpest looking image and the ATEM will handle the down sampling to 1080p.
Does this work for the FZ 300?
The cinematic settings will work with all Panasonic cameras. However I believe the record unlock is different for each camera. If you try and it works please let us know. Thanks for watching!
@Glen Reed do you happen to know if you can unlock the 4k recording limit on the G100?
Unfortunately I don’t know if it’s possible to unlock the G100.
Hi! very good video and thanks for the information.
I bought one of these cameras a week or so ago but mine does not seem to have some of the settings like "CineLike D". Any thoughts?
Make sure you are in movie mode. A lot of people mistake the position of the dial. Thanks for watching!
Yes, that was the problem, but now the picture is too dark unless I select a very high ISO value. There are so many settings that confuse someone like me that is not an expert...
Wow a cheat code for no limit video, where was that written?
Found it written on a scroll in a bottle washed up on the beach on a deserted island 😉
would it change anything if I just let it be without resetting it back to normal?
Nope! You can leave it unlocked as long as you want. I basically just gave instructions on how to reset it just in case people didn’t like the warning ⚠️ symbol. Thanks for watching!
Does that trick work with other Panasonic cameras?
Unfortunately not 😔
Subscribed.
Thanks! I appreciate the support 🙂
Hii nice video! I have a question tho. How do I transfer the 4k videos to my Huawei? It's not working via de Panasonic app..
Thanks! At the moment I don’t think you can transfer large files like 4K using the app. If you need to use your phone I would suggest buying a SD card reader that will fit you phone to transfer, plus it will be much faster than using the app. Hope this helps, thanks for watching!
My lumix g7 having a issue that when Ian recording the screen is showing black ad white but after recording the clip is playing in colour mode. Please help me that I want to see my screen colour while recording. Thank you.
It sounds like you have Monochrome Live View enabled. Go to the menu with the wrench and the C and on menu 5 of 9 change the Monochrome Live View to off. This should fix you problem. Thanks for watching!
