I’ve watched enough Carwow to know the Turbo S is going to humble everything else
Carwow drag races are the best
In what? A 1/4 mile race? Only cuz the launch, after 60 mph it gets destroyed by most of its competitors. Also it sounds awful

.. and you lift your foot of the throttle to let the other car pass you. It was so obvious he did that in the Porsche to let the Ferrari that never won - a Ferrari that loses to the NSX (a 10.0 flat car) in real life too.

That Turbo S JUST MADE ME SMILE THE WHOLE RACE
Love how the GT500 was clearly passing the corvette and then they told him to hit the brakes. I guess they were scared of how it would do against the other cars. That’s just sad.

As a die hard, life long Stang guy, THIS was the most disgusting display of ridiculousness I've seen in a while! The GT5 was clearly passing the Vette! Then it suddenly nose dives???🤔🤨....Why didn't they just line all the cars up, side by side as times before and run them to the half mile???🤔
I was watching this and going “is this dude even revving this thing out?” It looked like he was shifting at like 5k. Then again the gt350 is designed to be a track car not so much a drag racer.

More importantly, they also put the heavier guy in the already heavier Porsche to handicap it further... In spite of that, the difference was a small fraction of a second. 🤔 Doesn't seem "better" by any rational measure.

Recently I saw some russians who ran a 9.5 with bolt ons and on street tires, the 0-60 was like 2.2 and the trap speed was 142. So yeah, serioisly quick car
Well it's not really a stock 911, rather a stock 911 Turbo S, already quite different from the stock 911 Carrera. The 992 Turbo S still comes in at 200k dollar. But yes, still impressive :)

Probably carwow is a main reason why everyone here is disappointed. 10yrs ago, this was a special video. In 2020, we‘ve been watching carwow every week and everyone knew it would be the Porsche to win on the quarter mile and the Ferrari on the half mile. Plus, we all wanted one race with 10 cars, that‘s what it was about

As cars get more HP and electric, I believe the new performance benchmark should be 0-60 -> 0-100 mph and 1/4 -> 1/2 mile. We now have big 4 dr sedans (M5, E63) doing 0-60 in 3 secs; not too long ago 3 secs was the time to 0-30mph.
@@rcauthen324 The results were expected, except the GT500 vs Corvette, atleast what I expected. I think both Ferrari & Porsche fanboys need to understand that between the two cars the Ferrari is the faster car while the Porsche is quick only in the 1/4 mile, in a 1/2 mile it gets beaten by the Ferrari.

Last time GT500 beat C8 on tracks. Shitvrolet feel embarrassed and paid them to make GT500 lose to C8, but real races GT500 will gapped and smoked C8 on Rolled Race and Drag Race, watch Hennessey's YT Channel.
Next year: 30 second video, line all the cars up, say GO, and we watch.
Hennessey performance does this. They get right to crackin when they do their drag races.

I think these types of cars are actually better because it’s more realistic. What I didn’t like is that they changed the rules all of a sudden and did a 1/2 mile instead of a 1/4 mile.

What a joke
Its not a joke. Computers are monitoring the exhaust air pressure from which turbo turbine blades retract and move according to the pressure applied to these blades,give boost as per the rpm.
It happens in variable geometry turbos.

I've watched all 9 previous World's Greatest Drag Races and was impressed sharing the clips with others...but this was a noticeable step back and dissappointing overall.
We kinda had a pandemic that screwed things up I’m sure they’ll try to bring back the old format if they can
