    I haven't gotten to fly sar since 2016. This video just about made me cry. I miss it. I hope you enjoy every moment. Next time you're in the air. Just close your eyes for a few seconds and feel the vibrations. Its the only story you can't watch later.

    Such incredible shots of a beautiful bird, and some of the most brave people in the world. It definitely deserves more likes.

    Great video NAS Whidbey SAR, It's been along time and in a different helicopter (SH-3G), equipment looks very much the same. 1985 and 1992. miss the team work. Thanks keep it moving forward.

    I see you guys flying around all time I live in skagit and work on base. It's cool to get a inside perspective of the operation. Awesome footage we need more of this

    I love seeing my Sierras at work. IMHO, they're the best Hawks we've made.

    You guys still use the SkyGenie, awsome! I only wish I had some footage of rappel and short-haul ops from back in the day.

      We do still use the SkyGenie!! It is a device we have worked with for many generations and is very flexibly suited to our needs as you well know. However the Navy is in the process of changing the rappel device to find something that doesn't twist the rope which can cause sometimes minor issues on long rappels or major issues over the lifespan of the rope. Even though we are super fond of the sky genie and all the missions it has allowed us to do over the years, we think it's finally time to part ways.

      NASWI SAR do you guys get any female SAR? I’m an AD2 at Vp47 and want to crossrate

    • @kblackav8or
      @kblackav8or 2 года назад +1

      @@barkbook1440 You would have to finish air crew school and sar swimmer school and do a fleet tour at an HSC or HSM squadron before you could get assigned to one of the SAR units. It is shore duty and there aren't very many slots. The Navy has cut down the number of SAR units significantly going back to the 1990s. You better be a really strong swimmer comfortable in all sorts of water. Your gender doesn't matter, meeting the standards does and lots of people don't make it.

    Could you guys give any perspective of the rate? I’m an AD2 stationed on Whidbey and want to crossrate to AWS AIRR. Don’t really know much about heloaicrew, I’m in a VP squadron. Thank you!

      Emily,
      You should stop by the SAR hangar when you get the chance. It is located between the fire department and air terminal. There will be plenty of SAR pilots and crewman there to answer your questions. If you showed up on a M-F at 0800, you'll find someone. Also, there are female SAR crewman in the Navy. Currently, there are none at Whidbey SAR but there has been in the past, and will be in the future. Good luck!

      Robert Plant I think it fit pretty well as these people were very likely born with an inherent need to help people so you could argue they were actually born for this
