Hello, I've got a personal fix for "create new character after doing these steps" problem. I've done everything the same as in the video, yet first I did the steps to make the character a non-local-host (my wife's character). It swapped to her character on dedicated server. Then redid the steps but renamed my host character from 0000...1 to 0000....2 and did it again and it replaced now my wife's character to mine without new character creation on the dedicated server. Hope helps someone else!

I believe that latest patch today broke this. I am forced to make a new character when joining the new server. If I start a new char, and rename the old player file to match the new files name, Next time I load in I can watch as the file size changes back to 4KB as the server is overwriting with a blank character. Not sure what the deal is.
this stuff must be out of date because i get constant errors of stuff not exisiting. first the "fix_host_save.py" file, its looking for "fix-host-save.py". If you fix that, it then gives an error "ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'palworld_save_tools'".
Ok following thing happened: I converted successfully my safe file to the dedicated server and started the game. Then i realized: I don't have access to my bases and all that stuff - not to my pals working in the base: it says it belongs to another guild so i cannot press F. I do have access to the rest of my pals when building a new base but that can't be it. How can i link my char with my belongings and bases again?

I did this, and I retrieved my account, but my friends now need to create a new account to play. While I'm trying to do the same thing to their characters, it just fails.
didn't work. tried like 4 times starting from scratch and every time it results in my world being transferred but my character is not transferred and I have to start again. i even completely uninstalled the palworld server software and deleted all the files for it and still same thing every time even after the scripts are successful. It seems to just overwrite the player file created with the script when you try to join the server. Even doing what you said and moving the modified player file to desktop then joining and leaving and replacing the file doesn't work. It just overwrites it again... edit: changing the source player file to 000....0002 instead of 1 at the end fixed it but now I cant use my stuff at my base because it says i'm not in the right guild...
Thanks for the Video, it fixed my issue. Although, you forgot to mention that you have to save the "fix-host-save.py" in the system32 folder. Plus you have to wait until the script cleans the files which is the final step. Cheers
Absolutely not, you should never have to put anything in system32; ever, if python is installed properly and the option to add it to your PATH is selected during install you should have no issues running python scripts from CMD, Powershell, Etc When doing this myself I created a clean folder to work with, dropped the scripts and uesave.exe together in it along with my folder containing my level and player saves, this makes it easier to type out the paths (and you can use tab completion so you don't have to type each guid in full) As you mentioned though definitely have patience with the script, it hangs at the end and you might think its done; its not, it will tell you otherwise.
Not sure if just me but I turned my local server I was using with invite code to a dedicated server so friends can play when Im not home only problem I noticed not sure if there is a fix is that we lost all our way points
@@RTZ_64 I also followed the steps exactly in the video and still have the same problem. I keep spawning in as the lvl 1 new character, everything else about the world is good but I cant connect as my original character.
@@TheNickdog573 it did merge your two guid files in the server folder? Like the 0000...1 one is gone and just the number one is left? Try moving this new one onto your desktop, join the server create a character then leave and then swap the files over. Might help.
@@TheNickdog573 Make sure the server is offline when you are updating the files and run the server back after the modification. In some case when the server is running it doesn't take the modification

Im trying to get this on a dedicated server that i joined, when I go to palserver----pal----there is no saved games, just saved folder. I did find my save file info for my dedicated server? or i think in my regualr pal----saved games, reason being is because when I log inot that server then leave, i check the time last modified and it matches when i was on that dedicated server. so my question is. would I just copy that folder into the palserver?

It has to mean the file isnt in the path youve wrote just before it, or the number is wrong. Just double check it's all correct and both the files are in the correct folder
Only you have too, they're files can just be copy and pasted because their already using their online Id. They're number doesn't change when joining your local or server.

This works awesome for converting the host player save file over, and I am to log into the dedicated server with my old character and see my base and pals. The only issue I see at the moment is that I've lost all of my fast travel points and the map is not longer explored. Is this expected or did I miss a step in copying files over?
@@Bastienreturn seems alot of people are having this problem, I had it a couple of time and solved it by deleting the file on the server and rejoining to create a fresh new file then merging it. Worked every time for me
You should be able to do this process and then join his server to start a fresh character then just send him the merged file to replace the just created one.

Because it's a server file you should already have it as a online profile number, this means it won't be 0000...1 and you can just copy and paste it to the new server. If you're trying to go back to single player I'm not sure if it will work.

I've tried this method but it doesn't seem to want to load and the palserver application seems to close on its own whenever I try to connect (game sound/sfx seems to work for a few seconds then stop too). @@RTZ_64 to fix the Pals add them as buddy, drop them and then pick them up and place back in the Palbox. Takes a bit of time but it works. Thanks again for your video, the only one I found that worked.
Absolutely but you have to merge the files like this video and then upload the merged character file to the server. The guid (your server name) will be the same from the dedicated server and the rented server. I currently have a rented server with this setup.

Doubt it... The "save" or better nickname for it "Profile", that you have on the official MP server would logically be saved ON the servers PC, which would mean that it's locally saved on the pc running the official server itself :/ Hopefully they make worlds and profiles/characters a seperate thing in the future!

make sure you have the right case on "fix_host_save.py" the above uses "fix-host-save.py" - thats what I had an issue with anyway

Some people have this issue and some don't, I think it's to do with your world data. Did you join the server first before merging the files?

Make sure you turn off the server inbetween changing the files.

I did have that happen once and fixed it by deleting the server character file and starting a new one but not moving, then remerging the 2 files.
Did you move the other players file over?
The other players just copy and paste over no issues.
