He's literally dancing on the bench. The pedalling is outstanding. I have never seen such great performance, he's genuinely enjoying it.

When it comes to this piece, I guess almost no one can play this as beautifully as he does👏🏻

Dang Bruce! You did that. I love the pedal action - it’s so elastic. The waltz dance is always so amazing. You remind me so much of a middle school classmate name Jimmy Lee, Charlotte NC, 1979 - 1982, so this year, we’re 57 😁😊❤️.

Probably not, this piece is usually played fast. There are many waltz out there.

How to play Chopin like Liszt and dazzle the people with bravura. This Waltz at this tempo lacks poetry & elegance and is un-danceable. Liu has great technical facility, but is that enough for Chopin?

Crazy how you can win chopin competition and be confuse with waltz rythm....he plays it like a muzurka with a little pause between second and third time......wtf
I’ve gone back to rewatch these to learn if I could perceive what the jury preferred in Liu’s playing. I can’t. Fast, loud, and (mostly) accurate are not quite enough for, especially with so much affectation.

The dancing legs in this performance were a bit much, but I had him pegged as the potential winner from the beginning. His performances were consistently dazzling, even if his interpretations weren’t universally loved. Even in a pool of pianists as talented as this one, he truly stood out.
@@orlandocfi I don't think the dancing legs were on purpose. When u feel the music, even your body will move with it on its own.
