Been there done that with the hold time and total amount of time getting the run around ,yet with my cable company,a number of times. So I know where you are coming from here. Can't wait,'till I have to call DJI and deal with them,if I ever end up having to. Kudos to you sir for keeping your cool. Now, I only have the Phantom 3 Pro, and yes,I will keep from doing any updates, and hopefully will not have to deal with them.

That's B.S. Ken, the HDMI output on the controller is only 720p so you have to change the signal input on the goggles to 720p.... if possible. Let me know how it works out, good luck and happy flying!

I'm glad I haven't purchased goggles for my P4P yet. I do feel your pain though Ken. I had to call DJI this past Tuesday and was #24 in their que. I waited an hour & twenty minutes on hold before speaking to someone. An hour & 46 minutes later my call was complete. They need some serious help with their customer service!

Hi Ken, love all of your videos. I'm revisiting this video as I discovered a possible solution from another drone forum. This person had a similar scenario of poor connectivity after an update. Their fix was to upgrade their USB cable from 2.0 to 3.0 (to those not familiar, the 3.0 cable is designed to handle more information/bandwidth). Let us know if this works!
That’s pretty cool how they reached out to a video with 10k views. I think they have pretty good customer care and I understand the wait times as I was on hold for an hour while calling Xfinity. Yes they are two different company’s but it shows dji isn’t that bad. They are pretty loyal and polite IMO.
Dear Ken, can you try out this method: Removed the hdmi module, switch on the phantom a while and then, Reinstall the hdmi output module and run it again..

I'll be following this to see what their resolution is. They should know details like this can drive away customers. I almost ordered the HDMI adapter for my Phantom 4 this week, glad I didn't yet. If they intend on making it only work with proprietary equipment, why bother wasting $100? Furthermore, friends and family are very interested in my feedback on my new P4 as several are considering purchasing one too. DJI should concentrate on making their products better than anyone else's rather than upsetting customers that have already spent $1000+. My company no longer buys Makerbot products because of such actions...
That's strange Ken, I'm not having any problems at all using my fatshark HD2 goggles with the dji part 54 module... I upgraded the firmware on the phantom 4 using the assist 2 program on my laptop... then I upgraded the controller through the DJI Go app on my tablet and all is still working fine... hope you sort out your problem soon
My P4pro arrives tomorrow. Bought the HDMI module several weeks ago in anticipation. I'll try to test it before and after the update and let you know how it goes. I should probably video the process so when the update bricks my HDMI I'll have evidence.
I called earlier this week. I was # 28 to start with and waited over an hour to speak to someone. I actually fell asleep on accident and didn't miss anything. :) I also think I spoke with the same guy.

This is exactly why I went to Autel, Their drones are better and their customer service rocks compared to DJI, Whenever I call Autel I get someone right on the line, no problems. DJI has you waiting forever only to get the run around

FYI Some of my background is a computer and network engineer. One of my businesses I fix phones and computers in my own certified shop. So I have a lot of experience dealing with Apple, Android, Microsoft in other electronic companies. this is one of the reasons why I stopped using APPLE phones 4 years ago switching to Flagship Android phones. Apple is a (monopolizing, controlling, manipulative. forcing you to use they're dongles and products trying to suck the life out of your pocket ) type of company. My favorite Android product is a Samsung flagship but I would pick any of the top four Android Flagship phones over any Apple product even though I still Fix Apple products..( THEY DON'T CALL IT APPLE JAIL FOR NOTHING LOL) they give you the least amount they can in their phones and products while trying to charge you the most money... Dji's turning into Apple being a monopolizing ass wipes. There's enough to go around for all the companies. but DJI billion dollar company is not enough they want more of your money!!! Their customer support is absolutely horrible overall!! I'm praying that AUTEL ROBOTICS can get their shit together and give them competition cuz their support is unbelievable and they don't screw with you.. SORRY FOR THE LONG-WINDED STATEMENT I JUST COULDN'T RESIST THE SIMILARITIES BETWEEN DJI AND APPLE..

My son and I watched your episode with the goggles a few months ago and decided to budget for it but after what I just heard it sure sounds like their intentions are to force users into their product like-it-or-not. My suggestion to them would be to continue developing their own product but give customers the opportunity to keep what they already purchased. Maybe even build in some hot feature(s) that 3rd party goggles can't support. Nothing kills a customer base - or dealer base - faster than a company that disregards those who are buying their product.

Autel X-Star Premium has good support. US based support open 7 days a week. That is the reason i went with them. Worth checking into for sure.
And their camera is on par with the Inspire 1. And they have a 1" sensor camera modual coming out soon.
