In this video I share 7 keyboard shortcuts (plus variations) on how to select cells and ranges on a worksheet. These save time with navigating the worksheet, especially when working with large data sheets.
Here are the main keyboard shortcuts.
1. Select Last Used Cell on the Sheet: Ctrl+End (0:15)
2. Select First Cell on the Sheet: Ctrl+Home (1:33)
3. Select Last Used Cell in a Range: Ctrl+Arrow Keys (2:02)
4. Select Multiple Cells: Shift+Arrow Keys (3:19)
5. Select Range of Used Cells in Row/Column: Ctrl+Shift+Arrow Keys (3:47)
6. Select Entire Range of Used Cells: Ctrl+Shift+Home/End (4:54)
7. Select All Cells in a Used Range: Ctrl+A (5:34)
I also explain variations and how each of these shortcuts works in different situations.

Hey buddy. many thanks for your useful videos. How can we select the previous cells in a column or row? For example, I would like to have: "sum(A2:A1) in B2", "sum(A3:A1) in B3", "sum(A4:A1) in B4" and so on. In the common drag and drop, we will not have the desired format.

Just want to know, If I select full column with Ctrl+Shift+Down Arrow Key, How can I jump back to the first cell in the selected column without losing the selection. Jump with keyboard short cuts not by using mouse please.
Ctrl+Shift +Arrow is the most useful
Awesome! Incredibly helpful! My mouth was agape the whole time I was watching this! One question: Do you know why it might be the case that when I attempt the Ctrl + End function, it takes me to a last used cell that I can't figure out how to delete? You showed how to delete the unused rows, but no matter what I delete (the column or the row), it still selects this same cell as the END. Thanks again for your help!
Awesome
ooooo that was sooo liberated
Excellent
Many thanks. I have had problems with a macro crashing while selecting three columns. By using a combination of your ctl+shift commands - problem solved.
Thanks Elynn! :-)
When I'm working with a large dataset and I want to enter a whole column in a formula, it scrolls my excel all the way down of the page after using the excel shortcut ctrl + shift + down arrow. Is there a way to prevent that or is there a way to scroll all the way back up with a shortcut?
I have learned SO much helpful and valuable tricks and shortcuts from Jon and his videos! Check out Excel Campus!!!!
Thanks so much Kelli! I really appreciate your support and happy to hear you are learning more about Excel. Have a great day! :-)

How do you select two different non-adjacent blocks of cells at the same time? Like a3-a7, then select d3-d7 while a3-a7 remains selected?
Press Ctrl then right click 1 by 1.
@@poyjuarez7670 Thank you. I'll give it a try. Good day to you.

If i have 300x20 in one cell or 300x100 or 300x1111 I want to extract what holds after x how can i do that what is the formula for that. I cant use right function for that so how can i do that
How to save it column and row so next time I open excel open same exact way
You can select full row or collumn if you click on Thr numbers or letters. But how do I do it with the keyboard ?
Ctrl + Spacebar to select column, Shift + Spacebar to select row
Good video here! I’m forever adding and deleting columns and rows in worksheets, so I use ctrl+space and shift+space to select a full column or row, then use ctrl+ ‘+’ to insert a row or ctrl+’-‘ to delete.
Great suggestion John! I use those shortcuts all the time too. Here is an article I have on 5 keyboard shortcuts for rows and columns. (www.excelcampus.com/keyboard-shortcuts/row-and-column-shortcuts/), that includes the Ctrl+'+' and Ctrl+'-'. I will create a video on those in the future as well. Thanks again! :-)
You can also add Column by "alt+i+c" in excel 2010 onwards, to add raw "alt+i+r"
PLZ INFORM HOW TO CHANGE EXCEL SETTING FOR GO TO LINKED CELL DESTINATION BY USING MOUSE SINGLE CLICK INSTEAD OF USING KEY BOARD SHORT CUT CTRL+[ .
