  • In this episode of Sarah's Silver Lining, we'll discover some inexpensive hacks to extend the usage time of your backyard kiddie pool without spending more money on tools or wasting water by dumping it out when it gets dirty too soon. Find things lying around your house to use instead of giving in to more consumerism! A garbage bag to heat up the hose water, a reusable produce bag for a pool skimmer, and a bleach solution to keep it clean.
    I didn't mention in the video because I'm still testing it, but I use a piece of craft fabric to soak up the sunscreen/oil. You could also use a new tennis ball!
    And yes, I'm 37 years old, with no kids, and I have a kiddie pool. You gotta do what you gotta do to stay sane in Covid-times!

    I've had the same pool for 3 years and my kid is a year and a half old so don't feel bad. I got a chlorine float, 1 inch clorox chlorine tablets, and test strips for around $12. I haven't had a lot of issues with algae after I started using it.

    I love how simple not-super-fancy you kept it. It's exactly what I was looking for. I don't wanna go to the shop n stuff so I wanna make do with what I have at home. Loved the chair come trampoline to the right.
    Great video!Thank you!

    Omg I think this video is soo underrated! It has helped me with every problem I had with our pool. Getting it heated, cleaning it, covering it… whew! You are the best! If you changed the title of this video you may be able to reach a lot more people who needs the same help as I had. Plus the video is cute❤️

      How do you inflate the pool? It did not come with any attachments and the entrance hole is large and there’s three layers. Help!

      I have this same exact pool and had to buy a air pump to fill it with air. The one I got was only $10 at Walgreens in the summer section and it had the correct attachment needed for the wide opening of the air valve. It connects to outlet and only took four minutes to inflate all three air compartments. Super fast and easy. The brand I got was the BESTWAY sidewinder ac air pump 110-120 v and comes with three valve adapters and is often used for air mattresses and blow up pools or pool floats. Just google “air pump to fill blow up pool” and similar cheap ones will come up and are sold at Walmart, Walgreens, homedepot etc

    I got this idea in my head just yesterday when I saw what looks like your pool at walmart for $30. I even bought me a floaty, too. I can float and try to tan and cool off too!! I haven't got mine up just yet, though. But I got the idea to look on yt to see if any adult was using a kiddy pool to lounge in!! ❤❤❤❤ Thank you for validation!! I'm showing hubby I'm not so silly after all.

      @@nayadetgonzalez5958 I bought another $30 pool this year and two cheap floaties cuz they don't last long. I accidently left my original pool from last year outside in my gazebo folded up during a freeze and got tears in it. But for $30 it is worth it.

      So, I'm only 11 months late with this reply... LOL. I did use it again last summer, but I forgot to put blood meal around the perimeter to keep the darn Toronto Trash Pandas out, so they got their little claws in the side. I was able to patch it, but not perfectly, so there's a really slooooooow leak. Plus, I now have a baby! So I think this year I'll be switching to a really tiny one I can dump out every time I use it.

    • @Josicat2000
      @Josicat2000 2 года назад +2

      I found the information online saying it's a 1/8 cup per 100 gallons, so you need to make the math according to your pool's size.

      I wish I could remember, but 4 years and a baby later, I don't recall. I don't think I ever kept it for more than a week at a time because I didn't want to completely destroy my grass, and the raccoons were a nuisance. I haven't blown it up for a couple years because of my toddler. Maybe this will be the year...

      I’m not sure what she used but we do three layers underneath ours: tarp, foam tiles and another tarp on top. That way it stays clean and there’s less chance of it getting damaged at the bottom.
