Thanks for sharing. Have you had any cooling issues? (Long/fast/hilly/hot driving) Almost done with my swap. Leaving engine coolant bypass around the back in place. Will try to share on priuschat or a short video later. Have flow diagrams as well.
Good question! If you look at a stock 3rd gen Prius, take notice of the air bleeding hose that goes from the large coolant port right above the transmission up to the Y junction that I noted in the video. The routing and shape of this hose is Uber important to get a proper bleed on the cooling system. I originally shortened it, as was shown in this video, but it needs to run in the stock orientation (around & in front of the air filter box) after leaving the brass T fitting. Hope this helps!
You should just bypass the coolant to the CAT, that was a terrible design that ends up leaking coolant into the exhaust and then uses all the coolant so then the car over heats and we know what happens next.
@@kabbak Wife insisted on bringing the car into the dealer to be fixed, well it's been sitting there 3 months because they can't get the part. I should've just bypassed it and not told her what I was doing. Only plus side is they gave us a new Prius to drive in the meantime, although I don't like it as much as our Prius.
From the UK, this contains 3 different parts originally and their part numbers are 16571-37210 / 16577-37090 / 16573-37020. I'm currently in the process of swapping my engine as well. Just prepped my gen 4 engine today. Goodluck
I am not sure what it is for on the gen 4s. However, it can be blocked off on the gen 3s. Search this on google and you'll see where you can buy it: 16331-37100
@@jafinch78 ah, stretching my memory but I believe the answer is no. I think the casting on the block/heads for water fitting was totally different. I think the gen 3 motor has a pressed in piece and the gen 4’a fitting bolts on
Very good video! Our Shop - Hybridpit in SoCal does this swap as well. Keep up the good work 🏁
Thank you!
Good job buddy all seems perfect. I did same also and it runs great

Perfectly explained
Glad you think so! 👍
you were not having problems with the coolant system
on 3:17 you said change the length, I don't understand , the house was pinch or why air was trap

Good option to do if yours leaks. Helps warm up car faster by using wasted exhaust heat

in 33 s of your video you mention a hose do you know the part number

did you make a diagram of the coolant flow
I did not. Was hoping this video would be clear enough
How did you make the egr and intake port aligned
I bought a jdm and it has that hose that wraps around the back. What is it for? Where did you buy the new coolant fitting?

@@YardDebrisByCole I actually just left the dealer with the part. It was $45
