I apreciate your comments. I get the most enjoyment by sourcing all the rolling stock and ground covers and the like second hand and making all the buildings and trees etc myself. the only thing I buy new are the locos. There are some buildings and bridges that I have 3D printed. Regards Doug
Great layout Doug. I like the Burlington Northern cars there on your layout as well as my most favorite railroad is the BNSF which is made up of two of my most favorite railroads, the Burlington Northern & the Santa Fe. My N scale model railroad is the Pacific West Coast railroad. I have a lot of work that I will be doing in the fall on it as the Arizona desert heat makes it unbearable to run trains in the garage as it isn’t cool like the inside of the house.
Cool! First video I checked out on your channel. I like what you've done with the walls/edges. The only thing that really bugged me was about the video and not the train itself. It has to do with the followthrough. If you've got a camera on a tripod, try not to "clock out" too soon. I hear a click and see a bit of a wobble during the last second of a steady shot before it changes, telling me that you didn't want until the end of the actual shot to basically stop and get ready for the next shot. It's an immersion thing mostly, I'd say. Thank you for sharing and putting it out there!
Great Job Big Dog👍🏿 I’m building my first layout also, I’m on my third attempt🤷🏿♂️ 😁 Each attempt is better then the last one. They are a lot of fun to build,
Very nice train layout. I can see that you put in a lot of detail on your display. Love the close-up shots. I need to make a small layout for my N scale trains. Keep up the good work.
A very nice video and layout. I have plans to expand my own HO scale layout, though as I'll be modeling a steam-era mountain railroad town, I don't think it will look quite as modern as yours.
Love what you have done. Are you using continuous loops with turnouts or do you have reverse loops, i dont see any but they may not be pictured? Can't quite wrap my head around reverse loops and was looking for alternatives. Like how you used elevation, did you worry about 2% inclines or just made it work. Hope you have a chance to respond.
Mark I very much appreciate your comments. No reverse loops(they do my head in too) I have run 2 tracks around the entire layout with the outer one having no turnouts except one to enter and one to leave the inner track. The inner track has several turnouts to service the branch lines supplying the various farms and industries. I must admit I'm a stickler with elevations and never go past 2% gradients
Watched all of your past videos. I saw you had a diagram to your earlier layout, do you have one for your current layout. I was concerned about my benchwork being to wide but you certainly made it work, unless its just a camera illusion. Going to try start layout plans over without the reverse loops, at least to get things going...not ready to give up yet. Need a hobby in retirement! 😁
@@doug9566 No problem. Someday we hope to be fortunate enough to have grandkids. If you don't mind I have one last commit/question. I was curious what track and turnout brands and code you used. I'll leave you with that...enjoy your layout, I look forward to your next video.
Nice work! Not to be critical but there are a few details that stand out…you should not run older box cars with roof walks behind modern equipment since this is not correct. Modern locomotives like yours would never be seen on a wooden trestle bridge either. At one point your upper main line run has some strange “kinks” in it that don’t look very good. However, most of your structures and buildings look excellent! One of the most difficult points in model railroading is to pick an era or timeframe for your railroad and stick to it. Otherwise, while you can run lots of different equipment, the railroad looks more “toy train” like and detracts from your hard work to imagine and build. Kind Regards.
Thanks for your comments which are valid criticisms but this was never meant to be prototype of any era and when I run trains I just put together whatever I think looks OK ( I don't know enough about trains to do other wise.). I do think I will try and fix those kinks as your right they don't look good. Doug
The vast majority of the buildings are handmade by downloading images of wall ,roof, windows, and door images and then sized them to my scale Then mixed and matched to suit a design, Then just glued together. (It entailed far to much patience)When I do an update it will have quite a few buildings which I 3D printed. Doug
Love the farms, orchards and grapevines! … not to mention all the great buildings! Really cool stuff! Love it!
Thanks for sharing!
I really like the agriculture theme here. So many layouts are focused on industrial settings. This is a nice change of pace!
Looking good so far....uncluttered layout and colouruing and texturing looks authentic
Thank you for your comments. There is a link to the finished layout in the description of that video. Doug
I just got into the hobby and am blown away by the talent and creativity of you and a host of other layout artists here on RUclips. Amazing stuff.

I like the peach or apple trees.
Your agricultural areas are amazing.
Love it. I’ve started something similar recently. Plenty of inspiration here.
Great job, Doug! Your layout is very life-like. Congratulations!
Looks very realistic. Had to watch it 3 times to see it all.

I had the same problem during the summer in Australia in my Garage but my kind wife allowed me to build in one of the airconditioned bedrooms. Doug

Amazing detailed layout, thanks for sharing this.
I like the orchard. 👍
Looks pretty darn cool. Nice work.
Thanks Steven I checked out your layout which is impressive.
Nice layout!
Looks real good. really nice back drop.
Great job!
Interesting layout. U.S. trains on a U.K./Aussie layout.
I buy U.S. trains as they are the cheapest and as for the layout it's not meant to be anywhere in particular . After all It's all a bit of fun. Doug

A panoramic view RR. Nicely done though not yet complete.

Why no track ballast? Am I missing something?
No ballast as it wasn't finished when I posted this video.I have posted a video of the finished layout. Doug

I didn't know that Burlington Northern had a European Route ! Why is vehicle traffic on the wrong side of the road?
I'm from Australia and couldn't bring myself to put them on the other side.
Where did you get the buildings from? Other than that great work bro!

Very nice layout, but red letters on a black background hurt the eyes!
thankyou .Your right about the colours and it stays on for too long as well. leason learnt for next time. Doug
😊
Looks cool but why is this obviously American layout left-hand drive?
well spotted. I'm from Adelaide Australia and couldn't bring myself to to have right hand drive.
@@doug9566 Makes for a unique mixture! 🤣
That's N Scale? It looks like HO.
