    Just doubled the batch and made 8 large buns. BEST GLUTEN FREE BUN EVER. So much flavour and turn out soft with a hard crust. I made black bean burgers and used these as buns. They didn’t fall apart or crumble. Perfect for vegan+gf besties

    Red lentils water olive oil turmeric mint chili powder garlic powder salt baking powder flaxseed. 350 degrees for 25 minutes. I think I would leave out the mint

    Just made these for the second time. They are quite dense so quite filling but so delicious they smell so nice too. I make a mould with foil lined with baking paper and make 4 rolls that are a bit thicker

    Thank you for this recipe without psyllium husk! I am wondering, could I add baking soda and vinegar if I want to make rolls that are a bit puffier?

      Yes, using baking soda and vinegar instead of baking powder will also work!

    Do you absolutely need the oil? Is there something that can be substitute that is not an oil like a banana or apple sauce?

      The lentils might not be soft enough to puree by then. Maybe you could try the "quick soaking" method - put the lentils in a pot with water, bring to a boil and immediately take off the heat. Put a lid on and let stand for an hour or two. That's for _cooking_ legumes, though; I never tried with baking. 🤷

    can they also be made from green lentils?

    • @foodoctor
      @foodoctor  Год назад +3

      I’ve never tried using green lentils for this recipe, but I have used 1/2 green and 1/2 red lentils mix for the buns made with psyllium husk. One person commented that they’ve made the buns using only green lentils after soaking them for four hours and it worked well but that too was the recipe with psyllium husk.
