Our living room is a very similar colour. It gets no winter sun but stays bright and cheerful through the dullest months until the sun is higher in the sky and bathes it in late afternoon sunshine.

I really need to up lift myself to do some house organizing but I don't have any time at all. Then when I have time I feel I don't have any energy. How fun that you share the kitchen with your kids and are teaching them about food and cooking; as kids, we were not allowed in the kitchen to cook; my mom had to cook to feed the family - not because she enjoyed it = so it stressed her out even more if there were people in the kitchen. I didn't start to cook until I was married at 22.
