The RED button on the side of the seat is in fact the seat warmer. I have a 2020 VNL 860. Good Luck with the truck, I'm currently at 220k miles and she is a work horse. I love my 860.
I so badly want to get into long haul trucking but would only do it if I could work for a company that would provide a truck like that. Feel like that’s basically impossible though.
That "project" was doomed from the very beginning. The only logical reason to buy it would've been if you had another one sitting with a blown engine, so you could've gotten it back on the road by swapping it with a low mileage motor at a good price.
@@andrewneil5902 do you have an idea how a frame is checked if it's within tolerances? What do you mean by cosmetic stuff? The cab has to be fully equipped for as far as I have seen.
I have driven a lot of trucks over my 54 years of driving truck. The day I first got to drive a Volvo I fell in love with it I did not want to drive any other truck they handel so nice you have a beautiful truck
If you look on your fith wheel just in front of the handle pull on the plate itself there is a lug that sticks out over the leaver arm with a hole above and one beneath in Europe this is where the safety dog clip goes in when it's in you can not menuly. Pull the handle to unlock the fith wheel lock I myself to stop people pulling my pin at night or when I leave my truck at a truck stop I use a padlock instead of the dog clip just clip the dog clip onto the padlock shackle
I'm not a truck driver and I live in Europe so we don't have these big trucks but to me the Volvos in NA look really nice. Glad that you got this new truck
It's quite funny to see how the new US Volvos are like a mix-match of new and old EU Volvos. Even more fun to see how much you guys over there actually like them
The extra plastic housing on the mirrors is to stop the windshield washer fluid and rain on the windshield to go onto the mirrors when you use your wipers. The mirror does not get dirty, or blurry (with water) this way.
Your truck looks amazing. Seems like Volvo have thought of everything. I'd be very happy to live in that cab for a while. Thanks for the thorough review, really interesting to see inside in detail.
ECO Roll is the feature when you driving down the hill and release acceleration pedal, truck starting to roll in neutral gear. But you need to disengage cruise control and engine brake first.
Great idea, but I believe 1" black foam pipe tube insulation would probably fit better on the rungs. I've only ever sat in a semi once (good Samaritan trucker took me to the next exit when I had a flat in winter...hell of a good guy there), so I could be wrong.
@TheRustyCracker ; You can manually unlock the king-pin, if its jammed, what you do, is first release it by the switch, that releases the air to the locking clamps; from there, you can do it manually. Its done that way, for just in case it does get jammed, as they can some-times do so. We have them in most of our trucks in the yard. (but for us, we have like an flip-switch that covers it, like launching a missile (but they cant be activated when moving, as a safety feature)
I'll be getting this one. 22 or 2023 by the time I'm ready. I'm gonna be living in my newly bought Globetrotter for at least 5 years until they make a better one. I have nothing or anyone holding me down.
RUSTY: Rusty: I love the VOLVO I like everything that is placed inside the cabin as well as what is additionally in the SLEEPER. It helps you as a truck driver I'm one of those guys who is rather "old school" and prefer the CLASSIC XL. Love your videos - it gives good information and also pros and cons of what you drive as well as for the new guys who want to become truck drivers. Do not stop making videos - it's really something to watch
Globetrotter is the high of the cabin , xl is the highest and just globetrotter is a lower cabin. A have a Volvo FH Globetrotter. I think it is a 10-20 centimeter difference
As a Norwegian truck-driver, i kinda feel sorry for you guys. Yeah, the upside is you have a bigger space in the back, with larger fridge and all that, but i don't envy you for the driving experience. Guess the product meets the market requirements, Volvo here provides a different product.
I think she is the most beautifull truck you've driven to this time!! I personally like her way more than the western star and the cascadia!! Now i certainly can't wait to see your own volvo rebuilt!!!
For the rain sensor, leave your windshield wipers on the intermittent settings, the more frequent the intermittent, the more sensitive the sensor. For Volvos, it will wipe once to let you know it’s active.
the house plugs are controlled by the inverter that is below the control panel in the sleeper. Push and hold the green button and it turns on. It's not a heater lol
Volvo trucks are really nice design, next to international LT625 or Kenworth T680 I think Volvo takes the crown, Cascadia 2018 design, those are nice as well, but if we talk about how much technology you get in a tractor I believe Volvo has the upper hand right now. Note: I have not seen a Tesla Semi yet, but I hope their technology is good as Volvo. My only complaint with this Volvo design are the hood latches and for old school drivers the steering wheel seems a bit pack with buttons. (Convenience is nice but not to overwhelm the driver)
I drive a 17 730. Very similar sleeper. When the owner picked up the truck it had a basic sleeper mattress. After 1 night on the cushions I put that mattress on top of them and have slept great since. I can't really utilize the table without difficulty but I haven't missed it either. Also if you put an inverter in put on the 2000/3000 cables even if it is a 1500 watt inverter. My positive cable got hot with the smaller cabless on 4 minute Microwave times. Plus the 1500 cables are a foot shorter.
I have a 2015 780 and love it- this is a great unit, but would be interesting to see how the new electric Volvo trucks will come into play (if it does spark it will put a lot of people out of work).
I saw you pop open the hood however it’s a two-part process you have to do something underneath the hood as well as underneath the steering wheel correct please help
It's interesting that there is so big difference of the interior on the dashboard on an American and an European Volvo. You have a newer Volvo than me but I have so much better frontinterior on my European Volvo. It's more electric gadgets on my and the sun viser is an electric curtain that goes up and down, same on the sides but no electric, love those. Wonder when you Americans will get the electronic handbrake that we have
My honest opinion? Ok first of cheers to solo life, and second im absolutely in love with this truck, and last but definitely not least the more of these videos i watch the more i want to be a trucker
Yeah Man you got that fact, they should launch the VN Range or VNL in Australia 🇦🇺. For the past years or earlier they had N/NL and NH-Series which was Bonneted.
The volvo have worst off road truck and weakest truck with automatic transmission in 2021 But European volvo street trucks are good in comfort, but the interior is uncomfortable compared to Mercedes and Scania as well. What is more wrong with Volvo Trucks especially the newer model from 2013 until today? There are a lot of problems and terrible fuel and adblue consumption. Also (need a better seat) this is my opinion
cuz volvos are shitty trucks. In the us anyways. Cant beat a long nose pete/kenworth. Reguardless it comes with a weak d13 and not the d15. Nicer interior at the cost of a weaker engine.
Great looking truck … awesome features.. especially the ladder for the bunk .. I think it works great.. I’m glad I have one as well!!!😎😎

any problems with sensors and or emissions system so far?
OIC but its not required as your butt gets pretty warm sitting on the seat for 11 hours driving. LOL
I thought it was the ejection seat:))

We are ready for the Volvo semi rebuild to resume. Its been long enough.

finally a truck built for being away from home,
Shes a beauty. I drive a Globetrotter here in UK and a Volvo car so Im Volvo MAD lol..
How much does this rig cost? Of all the comments I have seen only one state "quarter of a million."

great track
ECO Roll is the feature when you driving down the hill and release acceleration pedal, truck starting to roll in neutral gear. But you need to disengage cruise control and engine brake first.
Rusty, get yourself a pool noodle, cut to length, put a slit in them and slip over the ladder bars for comfortably climbing onto top bunk.

Only one thing to say ... It's a Volvo! (Driving the XC90 in private, best car ever)

I've thought about getting an XC90.
