These were one of the first pairs of shoes I got when I got back into skating not too long ago and they’re still in my top 3 in terms of skating shoes. I even landed my first kickflip in them because the flick on it was so good! And they were comfy as hell the outsole insole combo is the reason I was able to skate after an Achilles injuries so many good memories with this shoe!
Hey wow, these were my first pair of skate shoes after not skating for 17-18 years. I really liked them too. I also got a pair of Atlantics that were awesome as well. I would definitely buy another pair of those and these.
@@crkrcksteady the Atlantic is Vincent’s pro shoe, right? Always loved his approach to skating. My local had a grip of Lakai, éS, and Emerica drop for the new season. The quality difference of today’s Lakai models versus the Flare era are night and day. Regardless, I landed my first kickflips in Mike Mo’s pro shoe. They were barely around before he left for DC. But god damn, the combo of flick, comfort, impact protection, and boardfeel puts them right up with the DC Mike Mo and Etnies Marana for being tough as nails while feeling perfect for a cupsole model.
@@ianturnbow7011 yeah. I've been skating a lot of vulcs lately but I really liked the Atlantic cupsoles. The lakai tread just doesn't last very long though.
I acquired a pair of these and they just happen to be the Pacifico collab. They look so damn clean, I still haven't rocked em yet and I don't know if I even wanna skate em they look so fresh... I typically end up skating everything tho, so its prob just a matter of time
Same brother, same!!! I really like Christian's reviews but I only watch and care for the reviews of core skate shoe brands, don't give a damn about nike, adidas and the rest of the jock brands.
@@rioterism i agree cause i feel like non skater owned brands dont give a damn about the skaters but just want money, but i have to admit some nike and adidasshoes are actually good
These shoes are seriously some of my favorite shoes I’ve skated. The only problem I had was durability. By the end of the third week I had started to get through the out sole fully and had a blowout on my right shoe. Granted, I go through shoes very quickly, but even something like the Michelin maranas from etnies last me almost two months
I've been skating for 20+ the cambridge is definitely one of my favorite sk8 shoes of all time. Solid, long lasting comfort, with a look that bridges the gap between old school and new. As for the fakie inwardheel; it's just you. I'm a heel flipper and I love this shoe. Never had a problem with any of my heel tricks.
This is one of the best videos you’ve ever produced. Objective facts, personal opinions, extra touches to emphasize the shoe’s strengths and weaknesses, and editing are all stellar. 10/10 review. And, there aren’t any dislikes. Hell yeah, man. I’d love to see a mid version of these puppers. Also, you’re more chilled out and better articulated than other videos. Love the vibe of the entirety of the review. Keep up the amazing work!
One of my favorite skate shoes, but yeah the ankle problem was happening to me too. And pretty bad, my ankle would be bleeding all the time. But still such a great skate shoe
I skate Lakai pretty regularly and it seems that the low ankle protection is a pretty common issue in a lot of their shoes. I’ve even managed to bust my ankle open from my ankle making contact with the nose / grip over and over. It’s annoying, but I still like all the other aspects of their shoes. Next up on my list to buy from them are some high tops 😂.
@@christianflores Speaking of ankle support, after I ran through my pair of Cambridge’s I found some Emerica Pillars on deal and I’m loving them. Mid top design so it gave my scabbed up ankle some time to heal 😂. I think you should give them a try, they are incredibly durable. I’ve got about 5 months on them and they are holding up well. (Just swap out the laces)
Just talked about this with my buddy last night. I will take a brand new shoe and rub the toe of the shoe (where I typically flip the board) across grip tape several times to get that nice transition. It kind of hurts knowing that I'm taking away several skate-sessions away from the longevity of the shoe, but my flip tricks are too grippy and hard to get a consistent flip with thst defined, new edge.
More éS reviews would be awesome! The OG Accel, Silo SC, Quattro, and Evant are all high up there. One question though. I fucked up my ankles and wrists skating for too many years. Why don’t you review more mid and high top shoes?
I got a hole in the sole of these for 3 weeks of skating and they really feel flimsy and unstructured after a week and a half or so. Otherwise i liked them a lot
this is just my experience but i’m more of a heelflip guy than a kickflip guy. the way i do my heelflips made it so the logo came off in my first session and i wore completely through the synthetic leather in about 3 sessions. i threw some duct tape on and kept skating but i also sprained my ankle on a hardflip about 2 weeks later and retired them. they def have a little life in them but they just weren’t for me. i tried sb dunk highs right after and found that they are almost perfect for my skating. not trying to bash lakai or promote nike but that’s what i found works for me. i enjoyed the review and keep it up!
Yes when I kick flip and he’ll flip like above the tongue I would have like blood spots and my ankle would be like bloody and stuff so yeah you’re not the only one
i just started skating a pair of these and i definitely have also been destroying my ankle on heelflips with these lmao, other than that absolutely love em so far
i love the cambridge shoe, but i agree about the low heel collar area, i also would add one of the loops on the heel to help put on the shoe. I like the way the shoes feel on my feet, and i find them very aesthetically pleasing. I completely agree with literally everything you said in this video XD
Just started inward heels .its reassuring to see others are ripping ankles on their griptape.i thought i was doing sometgung wrong but i see its common
Hey Christian! Maybe a comparison video on the regular nike dunks versus the nike sb dunks? Could be interesting as they are quite different. Then you should deconstruct the non sb nike dunks, and compare them to the Ishod dunks you cut up in the last video. Still waiting for the rain to come…
Awesome vid, as always 👌 Have you seen the new Cambridge mids that were only just released a couple of weeks back? They look 🔥 Can’t seem to get them here in Oz, yet, but they’re definitely already available in the States. Anyway, keep up the good work 👍
I had a pair of thin ass new balance 212’s and I also had my ankle ripped up doing inward heels and variel heels. If you look it up you can see it has like no padding by the collar
so i’m not very good but i do a lot of ollies. for whatever reason, the way that i drag my front foot makes it so my ankle scrapes the grip tape pretty often. i have to wear like thicker crew socks
I am hitting my ankle into the griptape when I’m doing heelflips in Vans slip-ons and that is why I dont like skating them. I thought I do my heelflips wrong or something but maybe the shoes are the problem.
Oh nice you tried the cambridge. I like how they feel overall because I have wide feet? I also wanted to give the Reynolds vans a go, but do the vans run wide?
im currently using these in the erased x lakai white colour way and i totally agree on the stitching part as it ripped quite fast throughout my first week of skating the insole and the outsole it gave me extra confidence when doing any impacts and i hundred agree with this video. :)
I switched to these from the griffin and maybe it's because they're not fully broken in but the soles feel like an army boot (can't feel the shape of my board) and they are a little narrow..time will tell
I really loved these shoes but the two things that I didn't like was the inside heel wore down so quick and so much I started getting blisters and the tread was pretty bad.
I was not good when I had those but I don’t down navy like a two stair or three and they held it down self I still not recommend number impact they were fine
Hi! I've had 2 pairs of cabridges and rolled my ankle twice in it. What do i think? They are kind a cool but not for all. Shoes are very soft and flexible, broken in from the start, but they are narrow and long for narrow feet (not for me), give you no support and no padding from ankle side. I've had similar problems as Christian with his inwards but only when i've tried to master my heelflips, i worn my foot to blood accidentally. Also they have not very durable rubber in their outsole, but anyway almost every vulc skate shoes wearing down fast.
They look amazing but am very worried about the canvas on the side. has anyone who tried them had any problems at all with the canvas ripping? I do a lot of heelflips and usually there is some wearing around that area. Am skating the Telford right now and the logo is almost ripping off but those are made of very durable faux leather on the side so just wondering how these would do. I really wish Lakai would do Telford low cut instead of the Hi cut only
Its a pain to hit your ankle on the griptape thats been happening with the vans slip on pros right after I learned my heelflips, have any recommendations?
hey christian, is there any shoes that you would recommend that have a long outsole duration time, i never rip a hole on the upper or even come close to it, however my soles get holes in no time at all, this is something i dont see any skate shoe targetting and i dont think ill be able to find one that targets this. i dont really mind board feel not being there, aslong as it turns 2 - 3 months on a regular skate shoe to even just a month longer with a better outsole.

I love the way these look, but me heel always slips out no matter how much I tighten the laces. It was a real bummer I couldn’t skate them.
Skated these- loved the board feel and control but the heel tab was too short for me to feel secure.
