They don't learn. Exact same thing happened in a number of cases in the last few years. No seatbelts gets slammed around handcuffed and because they are handcuffed can't use their hands to stop or brace themselves against the walls. Why isn't it a law required to seatbelt suspects in the back of these paddy wagons.
It’s absolutely disgusting when humans are treated worse than animals. “Video footage shows that in the course of dragging Sanchez-Mayen out of the van, Thacker moved his head, which caused Sanchez-Mayen to strike his head on the bumper and again on the ground.”
I am so angry because this man did not deserve this kind of treatment, how could these cops be so vindictive. That woman cop should be fired, she believed he should be treated so bay. This makes me wonder, "why ?"
@@nailingit73 Or maybe, and hear me out here, they wanted to make a shorter video that gives you the information quickly, and they simply cut out the part in the middle where he's likely just lying there limp. Use your brain, assuming you even have one. The cold hard reality is that there is no logical reason why he should have been harmed to this degree, you're just trying to grasp at straws to try and defend the abhorrent actions of these cops.
@Useless22 Not one fkin soul in this thread was there. You don't know shit and neither does anyone else here. Again, you're seeing an edited video, that's a fact! This is sad. He was just trying to sleep and in an empty lot, but because it had a don't trespass sign, he's treated like a real hardened criminal. No compassion for someone who has no home of his own. People are not homeless because they choose to be. They could have given him an option besides jail but just getting to the jail had to completely ruin the man's life. I guess he's not homeless anymore. 😕
@writerconsidered thank you.. usually it would be stated "without the use of his legs. " instead of "without his legs." I know a number of folks that have had amputations, so that's where my mind went.
@writerconsidered Quoting the transcript "completely paralyzed WITH NO LEGS. " Attorney Thomas Scolaro's words " The man is a STUMP now." Still sounds like he lost his legs.
Their website mentions they were amputated from the knees down. I was wondering why too. Maybe because he wouldn't have any mobility in them/dead matter? It's weird the spokesperson for the pd is denying the facts/ family's allegations when it's all on camera what happened and what the pd did to that man thereafter
Well apparently now anyone sleeping in public will just be in jail with the new bill…. Hospitals better be prepared to have more patience that they’re going to treat horribly. I don’t know if this is a really nasty nasty cycle.
It’s basically illegal to exist in Pinellas County! I know because I live here, lived in my car for over 2 years and have observed the police and how they harass the unhoused! Majority of those homeless have been through enough trauma during their life’s! Myself included…I pray this man gets millions from this police department. Although it will never be enough for what he went through; at least he’ll have enough to get great medical care 🙏🏽💕🙏🏽
That's an entirely different issue, we don't know what's going on with them. But regardless the policy have no business paralyzing him. He's going to need a lifetime of care.
Yes don't believe your lying eyes with him getting knocked around in the back of the wagon. Believe your own made up story with zero corroborating facts.
There are good cops out there, no there is not, whilst even one stays silent and this is continually allowed to happen, they all become just as bad as the ones doing it
These cops in my opinion are nothing more than trash. They had no reason to shackle that man like that and then the hard stop? How do these pigs sleep at night???
F-ing drunk or not an alcoholic or not nobody deserves this when they aren’t doing anything to nobody. He was sleeping! Although this is horrible and I feel so bad and pissed maybe this is gods way to say stop. And hopefully he doesn’t continue to consume alcohol after this because maybe just maybe God didn’t want our brother to fall to alcohol but either way who knows how life works and I do feel for this man and the aftermath of the police brutality he most definitely faced which is unjust.
Why is the family now wanting to come to his aid, it is sad that something had to happen to him before they wanted to care about him. If my loved one was living on the street, I would have taken them in.
Law enforcement doesn't need to ask why they are getting their asses beat here's a perfect example...not all of them are bad but there's a lot of them that are..
They treated him badly. He seemed like a really nice man. But I’m not sure that that in the back of the van could cause that. I don’t think we know the whole story. They should be punished for being so neglectful. And where was his “ loving family “ when he was homeless??? Strange they’re there now that there might be money. I could be wrong about that. But people nowadays. I feel bad for him nonetheless
This makes me sick and this is why people don’t like cops that guy looks like he wouldn’t even hurt a fly you wanna lock him up for sleeping? This country is crazy.
Crazy!!!! Arrest him for sleeping in a vacant lot? They should pay for what happened to this guy! He will never be the same as before again
So sad and unnecessary. He didnt need to be cuffed like that. He seemed harmless.
From what I observed someone in BIG TROUBLE...
This guy didn't look like a Threat ??????
Agreed
@@SusieQusie I second that motion
It's difficult to 'Back the Blue' when you see things like this.

Have to agree. Was that CHAIN necessary? No seatbelt preventing him from breaking his fall? Sorry, but this lies solely on the PD.
They do it on purpose.
Lady cop and Driver need to be criminally charged.
She is your next cheif
@mikewhitman578 Yeah. They still on the job! 🤷🏽♂️

How can they deny claims when it's all on video tho????
Unfreakinbelievable!
💔😭🛐 unbelievable
They do that stuff on purpose. They drive like nuts to beat you up in the back.
What was the name of that office who took this decision to take him to jail?
Wow , that’s unbelievable- why didn’t they seat belt him in🤔
I am so angry because this man did not deserve this kind of treatment, how could these cops be so vindictive. That woman cop should be fired, she believed he should be treated so bay. This makes me wonder, "why ?"
And i bet the BAD COPS WERE NEVER CHARGED!!😢
Wouldn't surprise me if they got a promotion for it.
Unfortunately, that's likely, if we want to remove police brutality, we need to get good cops recognition and support.
I remember when this man's arrest was shown. 😢
He got a lot more than a misdemeanor
Too close to home! I live less than 10 miles north of St. Petersburg.
You should go protest
Can you imagine when no cameras around?
"We deny any wrong doing." so people just ignore the videos and trust what they say I guess. bullschiff!
Edited videos. Ever wonder why you never see the video in its entirety?

Because the cops are afraid of the real criminals, so they pick on homeless people.
It wasnt just that , the way they dragged his body off the van and the officer allowed his head to slam on the floor.
Why were his legs amputated?
They weren't he is paralyzed.

Protecting the life right out of him, police are going crazy
The rough ride treatment, they wanted to hurt him
Yep, they do it all the time.
I guess the family didn't care enough about him to get him off the streets. But now that there is a payday everybody is involved in his life.
👀👀
Covering ther back as the thin blue line always does
They hunt the homeless for sport
DISGUSTING elimination on law enforcement!!!?

sue the police officers individually and the police department and the city and the county and the state...
Where was his loving family when he was sleeping in a vacant lot?
So that means what they did to him was OK? Got it.
Probably now trying to pay his medical bills. You never know why one ends up sleeping in a parking lot.

I mean…you ain’t wrong 👀👀
Police officers have a saying: "you might beat the rap, but you won't beat the ride". Looks like they gave this man a pretty bad ride! Literally.
Gosh!!!
It happens in the hospital and the facility.
Nah...it looks like the damage was done in the police wagon...

Put the cops in jail for once.
No different between those police and terrorists

@@anythingforselenas806Don’t ever cook again. If anything, the police would probably edit the videos before releasing them.

This is the third video I have seen where a man is bounced around in a police van and comes out paralyzed.
Yo I’m sorry, but we all road in the back of the truck when we were little.
Sounds fishy.....
Private transport. City has no inability.
City isn't exempt from liability there were cases where someone won a lawsuit against a law enforcement agency.
