Ive got 3 woodburners, no liners, but a good Victorian chimney. Swept it from the top,3 that we were using as have 8 total in one stack. Soot falls on to plate, leave it to settle, remove plate and tip into bucket or bag. A real faff but can inspect with torch and check bird wire on pots.
@@zacharysweeps5169 We always wanted to keep the open fire. So when it started leaking into the rooms upstairs we had the chimney lined. Now the chimney is smooth and uniform on the inside the draw is amazing, especially with the log burner 👍🏻
@@zacharysweeps5169 To be honest I didn’t have a clue. My local chimney sweep mentioned the Eldfast lining when I had him round to investigate the leaking. It wasn’t cheap but it should never have to be replaced in my lifetime. The chimney sweep I use now is new to the game and recommends I fit a flexible flue liner every year. 😂
I've had a morso multi fuel stove for 23 years it's still going strong no silly unnecessary liner was installed at the time of fitting. I totally agree with every thing you say the worlds gone crazy this last few years.
@@zacharysweeps5169 But surely there is a high probability of a chimney fire with all the soot dropping straight onto to register plate? It happened to someone iknow.
@@paulfairbairn1066 if you have it swept on a regular basis,it will be fine. Used to work for many years before they started putting liners in, regards Zachary 🎩

Very good information
This is how our stove is fitted. Only difference is we had our chimney ceramic lined before hand when it was an open fire. Works absolutely fine 👍🏻
@@stephencooper6766 that's great Idea. I bet it does. 👍👍

@stephencooper6766 should last forever. Haha, the liner in it will only last a few years. Waste of money 💰

Thank you. Yes it has big time. So much greed and corruption.
Great common sense approach
@@martinlanders1623 it is and a lot cheaper. 🎩🎩
Hi ..can you use cement board as a register plate
@@danielfox3276 yes you can 👍👍👍👍
Ah great, thanks Zachary for your advice and your reply, all the best sir
so when you sweep through the hatch do you tape up a plastic bag to catch the soot?
No it's done just like an open fire. Most of the soot sits on the plate. So not so messy.
