I am a long time crocheter. I wanted to tell you thank you for showing the hook placement for an normal stitch and then what and where the front and back loops are. It's very helpful for new crocheters to see this.

The slip stitch has that perfect knit look! Thank you! Another way you can avoid every second row having a "wrong" side, is look up "camel stitch".

A suggestion for anyone who has difficulty with that first stitch after turning.. when you come to the end of the row, chain one and BEFORE you turn you work put your hook in that 1st stitch turn and complete stitch. So much easier than realizing many rows later your work has become one stitch narrower.

I only have one look to go through for that 1st row slip stitch. I've even enlarged my screen. I finally learned to crochet last Jan but haven't gotten very far....still can't get the start of a hat. LOL, you know, I'm just a klutz. Everytime I start recording, all of a sudden, I can't crochet or knit properly and speak properly. The hook is very comfortable and light. I use it all the time. My set up for videos usually causes me to fumble.... and this is a handmade hook (see link in description box). It's not a furls hook. I actually don't own any of those so I can't say if they are good or not.

    • @DesignsbyPhanessa

it's hard to say because it depends on your tension and these ribbings have different stretch. The rule of thumb i use is SL ST: 3 sts for every 4 rows of ribbing SC ST: 1st for every row HDC: 3 sts for every 2 rows.

Sorry to say this...but ALL the videos I’ve seen are with huge hooks and thick yarn ...I’m using 3 acrylic yarn with a 4 hook and I’m finding the first method Reeeeeally difficult....I understand why you make the video so we can see what you’re doing but the slip ribbing is really difficult with finer yarn?...or maybe it’s Meee who’s the problem? I’m going to stick to the 2 method. But thankyou❤ for the helpful video...I’m making a cardigan and it’s given me help on choosing ribbing...I’m a newbie 😂🎉
